His voice is a breaking point for a lot of people. He said a few months back that his heavy smoking really put a strain on his vocals. He said that his doctors have given him a choice: stop smoking or stop singing. He said that his docs told him that if he didn't quit and quit smoking soon, that he wouldn't be able sing anymore.

Maybe a few years ago, but Nickleback has done the impossible and out-shitted Creed. I think Creed's break-up/hiatus hindered their shit-making abilities and made them into a joke. Nickleback has only grownin their popularity and reach. I am a teacher at an elementary school, and NB played a concert here in town a few weeks ago, and I have at least a dozen or so kids wearing their shirts.

Really, they haven't put out a bad album: they're all solid. And I agree with the see them live comments because they're great live. My favorites in order: That Much further West Tennesse 1372 Overton Park Nobody's Darling Rebels, Rogues and Sworn Brothers Lucero The Attic Tapes

He thought about reuniting GBV for what became Off to Business. He decided against it though.

Sadly, as you would most likely expect: some winners, some duds, good but not great.

I agree with the Dinosaur Jr. and Mission of Burma sentiments. Both have put out albums that are equal toi their previous output. Out of the two, Dinosaur has the edge in my book. As for the Pumpkins, even the tour/residencies right before the release of Zeitgeist, it didn't feel right. He should have just kept the SP name in the first place (see Zwan, which was pretty great).

Dude, has it leaked? All the websites I used to use have all been shut down... Edit - nevermind, just found it.

Great album for the, erm...summer. Hey it's 90 outside that counts in my book.

How do you buy music? (isues, quality, quantity)
brianjeremy replied to Vacant Horizon's topic in Someone Else's Song
I usually buy most of my CDs used and LPs new or used. I will also buy new cds if they're under $10 or the ever so important $7.99. I rarely, if ever, buy digitally. I am fairly cheap and refuse to pay high prices for music. I look for bargains. 99.9% of my digital purchases have been via I-Tunes gift cards I receive because people think that's what a music lover wants. I guess I would much rather have a gift certificate to my favorite record store. -

It would be cool if they did a 10" of those releases or a double LP or something like that. They really should have those in physical form.

I like it quite a bit. I wasn't much for Challengers but this one is so far really good.

Alright, I'll check them out some more, especially their new one. I've had Rubber Factory since it came out but I rarely listen to it. NP:

There are too many good things coming out in May. I'm gonna have to check that Black Keys album out. I haven't listened to one of thier albums since Rubber Factory. I am still trying to get into the BOH's album. Their first two albums have been soundtracks to my life for the past several years. I want this album to be great though...

The Gaslight Anthem always have a familiar tone to me, like I've heard this band/song before and can't seem to place them. I hope that makes sense. They're not the greatest band ever, nor do I think they'll ever be close to that title, they're just a solid rock band. As for Gayngs, dude, I gave it another listen today and I'm sad to report that it's still terrible. Maybe you gotta be in on it but I guess I'm not that hip. NP: Don't care if it's a crap rip, I'm loving this.

It's not very good in my opinion. I've listened to it twice and kept asking myself "why am I listening to this again?"
-
I like it a lot better than their last one which was only okay in my book.

Smashing PumpkinsTeargarden by Kaleidyscope
brianjeremy replied to brianjeremy's topic in Someone Else's Song
The fourth song is out song is out....Astral Planes. A little repetitive for my taste. There is also a fifth song, Teargarden Theme, an instrumental from the secret Record Store Day 7" out there too. If anything, this song series is making me go back and listen to their old stuff more. Gish and Siamese Dream still slay. I also listened to Machina I & II and Melon Collie for the first times in year. Mellon Collie hasn't aged well but I still liked it. Machina actually aged better than I recalled it. I still love Machina II and is on regular rotation around here. -
Listened to this twice today and once yesterday and I'm really liking it. I haven't cared for their past two albums as much I as I did their first two.
-
Seriously!?! Wow. They had tons of copies at one of the stores in town but none at the other one. Same for the DBT 7", one store had about 4 copies and the other had none. I feel pretty lucky now that I got those after hearing people say they couldn't find them. How's the REM? I had it in my hand but put it back on the shelf. I have the original on vinyl, but does this one sound any better?

2 songs, which kinda sucks. I figured there would be at least 4.... Sound pretty good to me, plus it was only $7. The last B-Boy album I bought was Hello Nasty in college... I would like to have some of the 7" I bought today in mp3 or flac format as well. Kinda sucks that all of these RSD releases didn't have digital downloads. Sub Pop is the bomb by the way for doing that.

I couldn't find the Hold Steady LP at either store in town, which sucked. Nobody had it. I don't know why they didn't/refused to print more of those LP's so the love could be spread around more? Now ass-hats are selling it for big $$$ on ebay. For the most part, between both stores in town, they had everything except the Hold Steady LP. I really wanted the Flaming Lips and Sonic Youth LP's but they were all $25 a pop. If I had spent that much money my wife would have divorced me or murdered me. Of the 2 people I saw pick up the Wilco box set, people made comments about them being ric
