  1. I have no idea if this is a good record or not, I wanna be surprised on Tuesday. But I do know that you should start with You're Living All Over Me, Bug or Green Mind. All of those are good starting places for some Dino Jr. Or you could get Ear Bleeding Country, a compilation of Dinosaur's pre-reunion stuff with two J Masics and the Fog track attached.
  2. I can only think of two right now... Grandaddy - Sumday Some record store in Boone, NC. I had a compilation cd w/ one of the songs that was playing in the store on it and they were playing the record...ended up buying it (it was a used copy they were playing). Preston School of Industry - Monsoon Eventhough I was familiar with them and had their first record, I did not want to get their new one (really hated the Wilco song, and still do). But I walked into the records store and they were playing it. Loved what I heard and bought it.
  3. I got this with the Hardcore U.F.O.'s box set a few years back but haven't watched it since then.
  4. Dude, I got this the other day and I really am digging it. I heard them on Last.FM and was blown away. Sucks that the LP isn't released until August though.
  5. Yeah, I saw it on the web. I've seen quite a few of those (Apples in Stereo/Robert Bobert, Bon Iver, etc.). But really, if something gets hyped around here or mentioned a lot, I'll give it a listen at least. The record has been getting a lot of heat on the board, so I saw it used for a $7 and I didn't ask any questions. I've wasted $7 a whole lot worse than trying out something new. Some stuff that the VC boards have turned me on to are now some of my favorite albums (Bon Iver, Fleet Foxes, etc.). I'll have to check out the Dirty Projectors other stuff eventually. NP:
  6. It shouldn't be too surprising that they are not getting some attention. With a stellar pitchfork review, ABC coverage and the massive stroking it has gotten around here, it's should be no surprise that more attention is being paid to these guys. I never gave them a look until I saw the ABC report and all the hype around here. My opinion, so far it's nothing spectacular. I've listened to it twice and I'm kinda "meh" feeling on the whole album. Of course I'll have to give it some more time... NP:
  7. I was so over Blink 182 by my sophomore year of college. I think you grow past songs about jacking off, not getting any and such around the age of 19 or so (at least you should, right?). I pulled their albums out of a box in my closet about a year ago and gave them a spin and I was embarrassed at how insipid and dumb the lyrics were. I'm 29 and it just didn't click with me. I outgrew them quick. The cd's were moved back to the box in the closet again, probably to make an appearance in another 10 years. Another band I pulled out at the same time: 311. I cannot believe how stupid their m
  8. It was an entertaining video. I did like what he said about people not saying why they like a band and the absence of dialogue about why we like or dislike something. I don't twitter or anything, so I guess I'm not hip to some things he's talking about. All I have is woefully out of date myspace page and my musical taste seem to be in line with what the man is talking about: insular. I guess that's okay for me. I love music but I won't ever listen to things like rap or whatever - that sort of music doesn't matter to me. I don't know about you guys but I don't listen to music critics t
  9. Found a used copy of this today at the record store. I figured I would give it a try since it's being hyped like crazy.
  10. Heck yeah, the Dirty South made mine.
  11. Dude, it's like #2 or #3 on my all-time list.
  12. I have gift Certificate to the record store, I may see if I see some Rosebuds in the used section...Been hunting for something new.

  14. I got mine in the mail on Saturday and am proudly wearing today.
  15. Other than the first two songs on the new album, I prefer It's Never Been like that much, much more than this new one. I find it hard to believe that a lot of people don't like that one more.
  16. They're pretty good but I honestly haven't listened to them in 2+ years. I bought one of their albums, Make Out (I'm not sure but there is a horse on the cover), a few years ago but I haven't bought any of their other albums since. What's another album I could possibly get?
  17. I've seen OCMS 3-4 times and every time they got better. Also, every time, their audience became more glutted with frat-tards and sororstitutes. The last show, the band even commented about not being able to hardly hear themselves play because it was so loud. I saw them with David Rawlings playing with them once - It was amazing! I really want to catch this tour though.
  18. I dunno, but I really wish that they would cut a DRM album. One of my all-time favorite concerts.
