And your point is? Very dull last night. Both teams too scared of losing. Lets hope Brazil and Ghana go at it hammer and tongs today.

An Italian dives and wins a penalty. They win with the last kick of the game. Terrible outcome.

The red plague continues. A straight red for a wanton piece of Italian defending (though in truth not that bad). Are Italy going to blow up in a big tournament again?

I am disappointed that a shoulder-barge no longer seems to be allowed. The other player just has to fall over to gain a free kick. As far as I am concerned, side to side upper body contact (i.e. not obvious blocking) when going for a ball should be legitimate and allow the stronger player to gain some advantage.

Australian just booked for swearing at the ref. Old national characteristics die hard The Aussies just need to hang on long enough for Italy to start getting jumpy and self-destruct.

If you're very lucky I'll wear it when I come up to Cambridge.

Wow, needs a good attitude from the artist to even bother to carry on in those circumstances. I don't know if I'd feel more embarassed (on their behalf) than them though.

I am now wearing my 'roo costume in a gesture of support for the men in yellow. I'm finding the pouch comes in very handy for spare change, library books, etc.

Well, I have the Welsh desire for poetry and flair in sporting performance. Better for Wales to loose heroically playing as a free spirit than grind out a dismal win (and therefore as a semi-neutral I can't get behind England when they are so dull to watch).

Van Morrison - Hampton Court, 23/06/06
Albert Tatlock replied to Albert Tatlock's topic in After The Show
He is playing on Friday 15 September at Austin City Limits Music Festival Not that it's near you, but Americans have a different scale of near and far to us, so perhaps you would consider travelling to it? -
In truth the Dutch guy involved should be banned for being such a big girl over the incident. I missed the England game - was on the M4 at the time, though it seems I did not miss much. At this rate, even if they continue to win, it's not a team I feel like celebrating - world cup winners should play inspirational football. The draw has worked out nicely for my Ukrainian boys!

Songs I remember are listed below - Wasn't there from the begining as I was playing tennis. There were a couple of songs with a country flavour that must be from his current album when I arrived. Moondance Down The Road Have I Told You Lately - in a sort of bouncy/rollicking Fats Domino style Bright Side of the Road A couple of others I recognised but can't remember now. A nice mix of styles from the country to lounge jazz to NewOrleans jazz to the soulful. Great backing band and singers. Nice appreciative audience. The overall sound was a bit quiet, but the vocals were to the fore in the

Nice review. Your traffic updates always make me laugh. Are you the sort who freaks out about being late? I still don't think I have ever heard anything by him (I don't intentionally avoid him, honest), but your one woman crusade certainly means I know his name now

A live Boot Donna sent me a while back just so I could hear some of the latest Wilco tunes. If On and On and On is not on the new album I may have to boycott it. Followed by Nebraska - Bruce

Not a penalty - unlucky. Ghana have Essien on 2 yellow cards and he will miss the next game, so if they progress they will have even less chance. Czechs have a man off, so Italy will probably just close things down for the second half.

Italy 1 CR 0 (Good game - I'm watching) Ghana 1 USA 0

More important in topiing the group was the fact that they now avoid Argentina for a bit longer. However, it all looks pretty hopeless for England now. Beckham contributed little. Crouch ditto. Walcott the wunderkind is all that we've got left to hope for up front.

You know about Granny-gate? http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/news/article...04?source=Metro Got to admire his attitude on the pitch though, even though he seems to be a few sandwiches short of a full hamper.

OK, I'll do my best to stave your appetite then. Here's Rooney in a new Nike ad.

Do they serve bangers and mash? Or a more traditionally English curry?

Deutschland uber alles. Meanwhile, here all the cars are running round with England flags on them and everyone is knocking off early to get home in time for this evening's match (not that it's on early enough to justify that, but everything goes to pot during the World Cup). I, of course, have the best of both worlds, in that I do generally get behind England, but if they lose I can enjoy the next day taking the mickey at work.

'fraid not, a little bit muddy and so nothing like the audio quality of the Hammersmith show last year. It was a good show though - I was there too, so that's why I enjoy hearing it from time to time.
