  1. Froggie is Australian and has Wilco withdrawal syndrone. He often makes a plea for a tour down under, but has been banging his head against a brick wall for some time. Luckily he has his Ned Kelly helmet on, so there's no harm done. Come to think of it, that news might just make all the difference - Glenn might like the idea of bashing Froggie's helmet ( ). Some strange percussive noises possible from that experiment I'll wager!
  2. I think I saw one of those in that cafe bar scene from Star Wars.
  3. Yes, I was almost wriggling on the floor with froth coming out of my mouth on Sunday. Luckily you also miss the "hilarious" smug presenters (that Irish guy with the semi-beard and Edith - who is sometimes OK). Not that I know of ...
  4. For those who want to read of Keef's reanimation:- http://www.telegraph.co.uk/arts/main.jhtml.../bmstones13.xml More of the same, but has the line "It is said the only two things to survive a nuclear war would be cockroaches and Keith Richards." "Richards, 62, also disclosed this week that his brain injury had not been sustained by falling out of a coconut tree but from a large shrub." Holy herbaceous border Batman! http://enjoyment.independent.co.uk/music/n...icle1174100.ece
  5. This would be the perfect location: http://www.burghisland.com/content_about_us.htm They have filmed lots of Agatha Christie type stuff there.
  6. BBC3 TV coverage from last weekend. http://www.bbc.co.uk/scotland/musicscotlan...hepark/weekend/ Take the More (A-Z) link for many more than listed on that initial page. Even some Jenny Lewis, that I did not see on TV over the weekend. Interviews and other stuff that those who cannot get the streaming clips might be interested in anyway.
  7. 1 is Duran Duran - Rio 5 is Echo And The Bunnymen - Songs To Learn And Sing Any brownie points I earn for the latter (God knows how I remembered that - just the shape of the guys neck reminded me of them) are cancelled out by knowledge of the former. I liked New Moon On Monday, but that was about it. I have never owned either, I was just around at the time. I do really like Echo and the Bunnymen though.
  8. I think so, the mismatch with my expectations threw me a bit. Sort of a country Chrissie Hynde, which is a good thing.
  9. I actually got to hear Lucinda Williams the other day. Alot more gutsy than I had imagined.
  10. Yes. Could be interesting then. Maybe as this is a 'big' event they might go for the full backing choir deal for Grace Under Pressure like at Glastonbury a few years back. I 'll try to remember my camera - if only for the nice walk back over Waterloo Bridge afterwards.
  11. That's a shame. Would be a very nice place to catch him. Several very big names use it for showcase/secret sort of gigs. Elbow tomorrow night for me. Know anything about Liam Frost and The Slowdown Family?
  12. Playing here at Somerset House as support to The Lemonheads on Sunday.
  13. Hey, wanna score a sea snail? http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/5165124.stm
  14. Ditto. I am not a food fascist.
  15. One of my favourite sporting memories is watching Nastase play Connors at Bournemouth in a Wimbledon warm up grass court tournement. This must have been in the late 70s. I must have been ill and home from school or something. They were having a lark most of the time, being good friends, and then it started to bucket down with rain. They kept on playing just for the hell of it, with everything getting funnier and funnier as time went by. http://observer.guardian.co.uk/print/0,,49...-103977,00.html
  16. I had a 'coq sportif' track suit years ago, at an age when it provoked sniggers. I think they still kit out the French team. Certainly the most famous French sports brand.
  17. First time I ever clapped eyes on Wilco. It was shown on the BBC years ago. I had interests in Guthrie and BB. Bingo!
  18. Was it still popular when Sampras was playing? My interest waned before that when power became dominant over artistry. Federer has some fantastic strokes I will admit, but just watching McEnroe (post early brat years) or Nastasie doing subtle things with the head of the racket as the shots were played was sublime. And the heads of the rackets were so much smaller! And people like Connors and Nastiasie seemed to have much more fun on court. That's a general change in most sports I suppose.

  20. "The link between France and cockerels stems back to Roman times when France was known as Gaul - which is similar to gallus, the Latin word for cockerel. This play on words meant that over time France came to be represented by a cockerel. In the Middle Ages French coins were engraved with cockerels and the symbol was adopted by the leaders of the French Revolution in 1789. Napoleon introduced the symbol of an eagle but the masses missed their cock and it was duly reintroduced in the 19th century. During World War I the cockerel became a symbol of French courage and readiness to fight to the de
  21. Martina Navratilova does not seem to remember much Czech. But she said "Hello" to me half an hour ago.
  22. I bought the LA album when it first came out. ANGEL COME HOME, LADY LYNDA, SUMAHAMA - all OK for me. And, Here Comes The Night (bom) is so dodgy as to be almost funny. They should have included a free chest wig and medallion with each album.
