Music venue recommendations in London?
Albert Tatlock replied to Chez's topic in Someone Else's Song
Favourite is Union Chapel (but the pews are tough on the buttocks). JT has played there solo. Saw Mavis there once too (not the time she recorded her live album there - seem to remember she said it's her favourite place to sing ??), and Jonathan Richman and Aimee Mann amongst others. Great sound and smallish. As for the larger venues, in addition to those mentioned I would add the Brixton Academy (or whatever branded name it has these days) - purely because it has a sloping GA floor that helps give the majority good sight lines. Wilco played there last time they were in the UK if you remem -
Did I just catch a whiff of bacon?

I have requested The Unwelcome Guest on more than one occassion. Obviously to no avail. -
I always read your reviews wearing an open kimono. Ta. Also, I’m sure I was listening to some Wilco track on headphones the other week and definitely heard some bongos and thought that was odd/funny. Will have to narrow that down. Wasn’t immediately obvious - just like the bongos on Day In The Life.

Not to mention a Monkee. My least favourite Monkee who always made me cringe a bit, but still a Monkee.

Also, you may or may not know that the wrought iron fire escape round the back of the Hammersmith Odeon (as I shall always call it) was the one the Beatles burst out onto in Hard Day’s Night - though if I remember rightly the theatre in that film was The Scala and the field they ran out onto was elsewhere too. Interlop away matey!

"Your purchase is complete" No outcry here. Not a whimper. And do keep your hands off our date format. P.S. Standing GA for Hammersmith, which is nice. Last time Wilco were there they had the seats in. There is a slight slope like at Brixton. Suppose I might go for a foreign date later if there are still tickets available and I have enough money and holiday left.

^^^ Interesting ... Was in Twickenham the other day, and yesterday someone in the office said that Macca was seen out and about in central London - possibly something to do with 50 years since the rooftop event? Haven't heard anything today though.

"Guitar, Drum, and Bass" = 3 x 1 hour episodes Stewart Copeland, Tina Weymouth, Lenny Kaye explore the rock/pop history of their instruments. Nicely done. Elvis - Rebirth of the King. Another BBC music doc exploring the comeback special and the first couple of Vegas years before the burgers.

Yesterday I went to Charles Darwin's old house. Today I feel much more in touch with my inner monkey.

There seemed to me to be a bit more of a rasping edge to JTs voice on that Kimmel performance than I’ve noticed for some years. Used to love it from the ciggie days and very glad it’s back.
