Safe travels Bbop, and if you can get in front of a TV tonight you can watch Wales v Portugal. I'm sure Wilco will delay starting until it's over. -

Been listening to this series for a while. A half hour format of an artist chatting about a seminal album they produced and performing a couple of tracks live. There has been a spin off extra half hour of audience Q&A. A wide variety of subjects. JT should do one (if you pardon the expression). Worth trying to hear from the US if possible. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-36357574 All the news this week is about a Macca special. Seems to be deviating from the one album format for him, but who cares. In this case they have also filmed the whole thing and its 45 minutes. Ca

Nice reportage. Wouldn't have had JT down as an apple watch kind of guy (I'm not). Suppose it could be useful for those secret mid-performance messages from the crew - "Your flies are undone!". That kind of thing. I'd guess it was a Grammy goody bag present :-) Enjoy tonight. Another new song? Nice to see So Much Wine there. Love that song as JT performs it. Seems churlish to request a cover at a JT solo show, but I would ...

Series three of Peaky Blinders just started. Stylish as ever, but so far needs to convince me it has the story to match.

Heh - I am Welsh. It's funny that I like all the Scandi-noir but have never got into Hinterland, though to be fair I have only seen a couple and it's one of those shows that that always seems to be on an an inconvenient time and is low down in the list for iPlayer reruns. Now watching: Mary Beard's Ultimate Rome - Empire Without Limit. The wonderful Mary does more of a social history rather than the usual emperors and dates. Agreed. That sly dog Dick Cavett eh?

You And I as the background track to a bit of a graduation montage during the last ever episode of Fresh Meat. The last 2 series have been a pale shadow of the first two.

What's the deal with Wilco (The Album)?
Albert Tatlock replied to WilcoTheologian's topic in Just A Fan
I love what many consider the throwaway Wilco The Song for it's self deprecating humour, and a couple of others. What I remember from my initial listenings was what I perceived as a preponderance of moon/June type rhyming that did not seem to flow and grated with me a bit. "Deeper still than we can go, Further out than triremes row" comes to mind, though I do like triremes in general. Now and then something causes a reconsideration - like the great version of Country Disappeared on the Take Away Show below, but since then there always seem to be things I want to listen to more, and less and le -

Remember it well. What seemed like a VERY long burst of the noise at the end of Less Than You Think. Final song was Be Not So Fearful with Bill Fay actually in the audience. Nice.

Bigger Bowie fans here than I may be aware of this but I found it interesting. Heard it on the Beeb but it's also available here https://soundcloud.com/hot-spot-2/ziggy-stardust-came-from-isleworth-r4-aug-2010

Three weeks driving/training around from Ibusuki to Nikko about 18 months ago. Want to go back for Hokkaido sometime. Top Kyoto temple tips:- Kiyomizu-dera Ginkakuji Kinkakuji Ryoanji Fushimi Inari Tofukuji But there are literally hundreds and most will be enjoyable for their own reasons. The food market in the arcades parallel to the main east-west street is colourful too (Tokyo fish market early morning is the best of market experiences if you can). Try to enter a big department store first thing at opening times - all the staff line up to bow and greet the first customers. You will fe -

Great that you made it out there Bbop! Hope you get some time outside the two mega-metropolises - metropilli? Nara is close to Osaka, Kyoto about an hour away by train. Ideally Koyasan but bit trickier to get to. Nikko from Tokyo is a doable day trip. Enjoy! -
It's great - dry humour very well done.
