  1. Should probably be the last time, though. Sorry, Jeff, but there's very few people who could possibly pull off wearing that suit ... like maybe Lyle Lovett?
  2. Howdy back at ya! Maybe someday we'll get a high-speed provider out here in the sticks. Enjoy, lucky!!
  3. Not working on dial-up. (Sigh.) Maybe they'll have it on the site tomorrow and I can download it at work?
  4. I would add (not that I'm an expert after my two trips to Chicago): don't be scared of taking the el or the bus. I'm from a town of 350 and my hubby is from a town of 800- not a bit of public transportation in sight, in other words - and we figured it out just fine. It was cheap, fairly efficient, and much less stressful than trying to drive in Chicago - also less scary than some of the cabbies I've encountered. Just a thought. Enjoy the shows, all y'all!
  5. What they teach you to fix, needs to be broke I say he who laughs first didn't get the joke Luv that song.
  6. If I knew what all of that meant, I guess I wouldn't still be using this archaic technology. I feel scared now. Hold me. BTW, Thanks JHamm. I will send an email your way. B&P is simple enough for my feeble mind to understand.
  7. Can some kind soul hook me up with a B&P of this show? Our local PBS station only showed it on the digital channel, and we're still gettin our waves thru the ole antenna. Thank you!
  8. Two words: Radio play. (And, yes, I love the Shins too and have all their albums. I can tell you that, at least in this area, their previous albums didn't get any radio play but Wincing sure did. Wilco, on the other hand, never plays on mainstream radio in this area, just on NPR---90.9 the bridge----and college radio stations-----90.7 kjhk out of ku).
  9. Well, unfortunately, I did have two young ladies come and stand behind me and TALK almost continuously starting somewhere around California Stars. WHHHHHHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY???????!!!!!!?????????
  10. We celebrated 11 years in August. Whoo!
  11. yup, we're there. columbia is our anniversary trip this year.
  12. No, both Nebraskans and Iowans are too doggoned nice to engage in a flame war. Take it from a Kansan. Have fun, we are going to Columbia instead.
  13. Ditto REM's Automatic (really any REM can make me happy or sad in a bittersweet way, just depends on what I'm in the mood for) Uncle Tupelo: Still Feel Gone (if you've got some pissed off feelings mixed in with your other stuff) Son Volt: Trace and Wide Swing Tremolo (for whatever reason, these albums really helped me when my son was sick) Wilco: YHF ...also alot of the b-sides and rarities really do it for me Jayhawks: Rainy Day Music, Hollywood Town Hall, Tomorrow the Green Grass Grant Lee Buffalo: Songs from the Storm Hymnal Victoria Williams: Loose (if you need a good cry and want to stop
  14. speaking of, can anyone hook me up with mp3s of these songs? (ummm, i meant i'm looking for the thanks i get and let's not get carried away. i already have sbs, but thanks anyway.) thanks much, my sweets! p.s. i was driven to distraction during our treatment team meeting today with endless mental cycles of "walken." something about that bass line....
  15. That site is freakin hilarious. Reminds me of my mom's "Backwards Masking Unmasked" videos that she used to make me watch. Funny, I still love rock n roll...and despite the warnings, I'm not gay, drug-addicted, or suicidal.
  16. I think Wilco will get the cover when and if Jeff is willing to put on a bikini and baby oil. And if the other boys all have tats. Bikinis and tats seem to be the key to an RS cover gig. And in El Brian Fellow's defense, RS is only like 37 cents an issue when you subscribe. My thought is always, why not? It keeps me in touch with the youth culture.
  17. I'm just another rural American on dial-up. (Sigh.) Can someone hook a sister up...a sister who will be forever grateful, I might add?
  18. Let's hear it for Kansas, eh? I promise no one will call our boys "faggots" this time, or there'll be a VC smackdown!
  19. My younger son will be 9 in June. All of his peeps are nature kids, too, so it ought to make a nice trip. SNL was disappointing, IMHO, but looking forward to the 12th!
  20. I totally know the Flint Hills. My sis went to ESU, and my extended fam is in OK, so I have driven through your area many many times. I think it's beautiful out there. In fact, my son wants to take his friends to the Tall Grass Reserve area for his bday. Not at KU. I work and go to school in lovely Johnson County. Hoping to ditch that scene pretty soon, as I graduate in May and greener pastures beckon (literally). I'm sure my prof will find your explanation to be quite satisfactory.
  21. Thanks, Mystik Wishful thinking that it was tonight. Got my tix for 2/12 (also hubby's bday). I'm a grad student and will be skipping my stats class that night to go to the show. Will be looking for a nice, legitimate-sounding excuse. Don't tell the prof that I'll really be doing this -----> Hey Clouds of Fluff, where are you located? I'm a country girl, about 35 miles away from Lawrence. I'll be dragging Tuesday a.m., too. Work at 8:30 a.m., with an hour commute. (Sigh.) Good thing I have that dandy new espresso machine.
  22. Wow! Two Lawrence dates. Love Liberty Hall! Also, if I recall correctly, they're to be on SNL tonight. (Might be next week - memory's shot. )
  23. Dems are taking over in Kansas! (Yes, Kansas!) Woo hoo! Take that creepy Jim Ryun! And you, too, creepy Phill Kline!
