The truncated single piano note at the end of Cheese and Onions is one of the greatest comedy bits in music history. RIP Neil.

My niece sent me a text yesterday, saying she was planning a party for her son who turns two in a couple of weeks. He is obsessed with trains and she is making trains the theme of the party. She asked me if I could help her come up with a playlist of train songs for the party. I came here and reeled off about 40! She thinks I am the all-time god of music knowledge. Thanks everyone!

Jason Isbell last night. It was as outstanding as you would expect. I was told it was a solo show when I bought the tickets so I was thrilled when the 400 unit and Amanda Shires were there. My wife knew none of his songs but loved the show. She cried during Elephant and Cover Me Up. Seriously.

Shiny Beast is really good (and appropriately weird). Same for Doc at the Radar Station. I pretty much like what the OP likes plus Safe as Milk. Not a fan of Blue Jeans or Strictly Personal, in which the record companies tried to mainstream him.

I didn't realise you wrote such bloody awful poetry, Mr Shankly

"Bulbous Salutations" would be a good name for a band, or maybe one of my fantasy baseball teams. I am going to use that someday. -
I enjoyed that interview, it's kind of a shame all the publicity is about Keith slagging Sgt. Pepper. Big deal. I loved this line: "I force the thing to do as it's told." I chuckled out loud.

I still love Neil, but yeah he is reaching parody status in many ways. Pono was a great idea, but the idea of people buying mp3s and storing them on a device is now ancient technology. It's so 2009! It doesn't matter if it sounds great, streaming has made Pono as irrelevant as the cd. Soon, streaming will offer much better sound quality and the issue is mostly resolved.

Nice article. Very interested in hearing the album. Thanks for posting. -
https://youtu.be/-trSFkXTleY Digging up an old thread to post a shameless plug for my niece's band Ghost Medicine. They are releasing their debut album independently, called Discontinuance. My niece sings on most of the tracks and her (now ex) boyfriend is the creative genius/songwriter and guitarist. They are prog rockers heavily influenced by Opeth and Porcupine Tree as well as the classic prog bands of the 70s.. They have been working on the album for about three years through college. Jared (the now ex) boyfriend had the chutzpah to contact Colin Edwin of Porcupine Tree to see if

Captain Beefheart -Ice Cream for Crow Levon Helm- Electric Dirt Tough category. Most bands break up because they start to suck (CCR, Ramones, etc) . Few final albums are good.
