  1. I'll probably be able to get a press pass to this, so I'll be there. It's a very strange lineup, with a lot of bands that I absolutely despise, and a lot that I like a lot. It's very spread out and random. Should draw a very interesting crowd. I'll go to see these: Death Cab For Cutie Snoop Dogg Thievery Corporation Ryan Adams and the Cardinals The Pogues Matisyahu Flogging Molly Broken Social Scene Robert Randolph & The Family Band Cold War Kids Public Enemy Girl Talk Mute Math Bad Brains Against Me! George Clinton & Parliament / Funkadelic Tokyo Police Club The Gaslight Anthem
  2. When healthy, Wagner is still better than KRod. There are a bunch of guys who could be pretty good if given the opportunity, including the guy who set up for him for about 6 years (Scot Shields, who consistently pitched more high leverage innings than KRod). He's probably a top 5 closer, but he might not be a top 20 reliever.
  3. Nice to see our Coach Mario Cristobal had a ranking I can mostly agree with.
  4. It usually is. And yeah, 3 years, 37 million isn't as absurd as I thought it would be, but I still really don't think this is a move that makes the Mets all that much better. A closer isn't what that team needs. And just looking at his season last year makes me really mad. 3rd fucking place in the Cy Young and 6th in the MVP for 68 fucking innings? Less than an inning per appearance? 1.3 whip?
  5. Sorry I missed this one, Scott. Happy birthday!
  6. I like to remember the happy John Lennon.
  7. Sounds like a pretty intentional use of vocoder. I always figured auto-tune was to cover up missed notes, and it sounds like his thing isn't with that in mind at all. Plus there's this from Funny Or Die.
  8. From reading your posts, I'm forced to wonder if you actually like music. Have you ever liked a single band discussed on this board?
  9. But there seems to be an implicit agreement on everyone's part that TT wasn't in the conversation anymore.
  10. Well, if you are going to compare two teams, then the one that won between the two should be considered better. If Ole Miss was in the discussion to go and had a 1 loss season, they would get the nod over Florida.
  11. Wouldn't T-Pain also be an example of a vocoder? Maybe Akon is a better example for autotune.
  12. No, it's actually really, really funny. But not as funny as this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hb7ZVwJ_nlM
  13. For the Reds, right? It's shitty for the Reds because they gave up a 23 year old starting pitcher who is like one shit season removed from being a top prospect for a 35 year old.
  14. Bailey might go all John Danks on the White Sox.
  15. Yeah, Alabama played absolutely nobody this year. Their numbers are inflated. thats kind of awesome.
  16. I've been lobbying for Lupe Fiasco or Against Me! for our spring concert. We have a 100,000 budget, apparently, so I hope they do better than the last two years (Jack's Mannequin, Fabolous, Onerepublic).
  17. Battle of two of the most boring musical entities of their time. Why would anyone want to to be associated with that piece of crap?
  18. Well, he's probably looking at these kinds of numbers for arbitration years 4-5-6 (comps would be Brandon Phillips, Utley, and Ian Kinsler): $4.5m-$6.5m-$9m So basically, they are paying him 20 million for his first two years of free agency. It's probably not a great deal or a terrible deal. Not a steal for either side, so I guess they both win.
  19. Red Sox give Pedroia a 6 year, 40.5 million dollar deal. He had one year left at the minimum, so it's basically a 5 year, 40.1 million dollar deal. Not bad, but they probably didn't save themselves a ton of money with it.
  20. ACC is probably better than the Big 10 this year. NOt as top heavy, but deeper.
  21. Guess this is the HOF ballot this year. I'll bold my picks: Harold Baines Jay Bell Bert Blyleven David Cone Andre Dawson Ron Gant Mark Grace Rickey Henderson Tommy John Don Mattingly Mark McGwire Jack Morris Dale Murphy Jesse Orosco Dave Parker Dan Plesac Tim Raines Jim Rice Lee Smith Alan Trammell Greg Vaughn Mo Vaughn Matt Williams
