  1. i had one back in the early 90s. the tuners were bent, so they didn't turn much at all without pliers. it slipped from my hand and the headstock broke off. that was the end of the proverbial puppet show. i liked the guitar pretty much.
  2. i don't like buying new instruments. i also don't like sweatshops. given that, there's really no reason to shop GC.
  3. gold on gibsons doesn't stay gold long at all, and even moreso with the lower end hardware often slapped on epiphones.
  4. gotta keep an eye on those micks. they're likely to burn chicago down again unless you keep them in check!
  5. i listen to AM talk and NPR when i am driving. i don't care for the radio, which is why an ipod was a good idea for me. i don't like talking on my cell phone at all, so the idea of bundling a phone to an ipod seems as dumb (FOR ME) as bundling a radio tuner to the mp3 device.
  6. i meant jake of jake's bar in rhode island.
  7. jake is a rad dude. ever see his cock? (he has a really great rooster tattoo, i just had to say it)
  8. this thread would be a lot longer if we counted coming late as to skip lame openers. it'd also have more volume if we counted the times we wanted to leave, but were with people who were waaay into it. i've walked out on A LOT of shows in the mid-90s (when i went to at least a show a week because there were tons of bands signed to majors for a record and quickly dropped). the only one i remember being sad to go was tilt. the hall was a 350 capacity and there were at least 500 people in there -- and it was a rainy, muggy evening in the summer in cleveland heights. i don't think i walked out a
  9. drag the river - closed. works great for soothing and making hangovers.
  10. it's crazy how rare their ohio shows are.
  11. i like their first album a lot. the second one -- eh. i look forward to the new one.
  12. for what it's worth - i was drunk when i read this the first time and had no idea what a "handle" of whiskey was. now i'm stone sober and still don't know.
  13. man, i've had a hard night and i hate the fuckin eagles!
  14. my son has re-watched that trailer enough to equal the runtime of the film.
  15. kiss was the shit. they were my first favorite band. i had a kiss bookbag in third grade. the obituary on ace's career is sorely overdue, however.
  16. cheers! i also check out truthout.org for leftist commentary and the progressive for leftist "under the radar" news. the nation is a great newsmag from the left perspective.
  17. if you're in the us stealing beatles records from a torrent hosted in denmark, leeching from a fan in hong kong, where does the crime actually happen? which laws apply?
  18. in the NHL, isn't it still the case that almost everyone makes the playoffs?
  19. columbus should not have a team. the blue joke-ettes are terrible. i've been pulling for the third place sault st marie greyhounds in the ontario hockey league. they're behind the saginaw spirit, but i'd like to see them trounce them if only for the colbert report mentioning my team.
  20. the holocaust museum is excellent and well thought out. it's kid safe in that the really horrific images are placed behind barriers you have to look over to see. it's very appropriate and powerful. i'd highly suggest it. when we head to DC sometime in the spring, we're going to hit the main monuments and the air and space museum, the national gallery and the museum of american history. also - drag the river and rocky votolato are playing in dc on march 25th.
  21. i was sad to see that this was a NEWS story. this isn't news. that said, i don't get why people get so bent over shaved heads. i kept mine that way for several years and my wife shaved hers bald at least twice in the time we've been together. it's not a big anything at all.
