i've wondered if he's swiping my outbound movies, watching them and then sending them in. it's uncanny how slow the system is. i was hoping to watch the good shepherd tonight.

i'm bummed w/ netflix again. it's too slow. my movies due to arrive today did not, and i sent the old out on weds/thurs of last week. it shouldn't take a week when i live 30 miles from the nearest shipping center.

Internet Radio may be on the way out
anodyne replied to Col. Hapablap's topic in Someone Else's Song
i miss the early-mid 90s when everyone was getting signed trying to find the next big thing. now bands who sell 100k records get dropped regularly. it's a sordid state of affairs. -
i fucking LOVE sockeye. they rule.

technically, you can't be sued for dloading (you can, but they don't do it because it's too difficult to discern what's a legal license and what isn't, etc). your friend got nailed for allowing uploads/sharing copywrited material. the indies do have affiliations, but virtually all indies with any reach to retail work through some sort of RIAA channel. the biggest american indie (epitaph/anti) still uses distributors who are tied to/owned by majors.

he has a very odd cameo in the movie CANNIBAL: THE MUSICAL (trey parker's film). i watched SCHLOCK tonight (a docu on exploitation cinema). i love that junk. i am going to a horror movie convention this weekend and am hoping to get the girls from Faster Pussycat Kill Kill to sign my russ meyer lunch box.

the mom and pop place around me were total dicks who WISHED they could be GC (they opened several stores in the area, most folded once GC moved into this market). the GC goobers are selling crud and crudded up gems, but at least they were NICE. the mom and pop folks acted like total rockstars for selling overpriced strings. i feel like a moron having paid list price in my formative years before the advent of popular use of the internet.

always check out craigslist. you'll find good stuff there.

i'd guess that for every martin guitar center sells, they sell half a dozen (at least) indonesian cheap "starter" guitars. i thought about buying a 000-m at GC once, but the way they have the set up at the two around here is so unfortunate. they sound/play poorly (all of them, across the board) at my local GC. when you make an awesome guitar sound like crap, you need to stop selling guitars.

i don't know who's been covered, but the first 5-10 PMs WITH AN EMAIL will get an invite as long as they have never been banned from the site previously. cheers.

cheers! and thanks. it was a great day. we went to morgantown, wv last night to catch drag the river and rocky votolato (two of my favorite bands). i picked up the criterion dvd of pandora's box and will be watching it all week (spring break). good times. thanks again!

How do i get rid of squeaks when moving my fingers along a string?
anodyne replied to OOO's topic in Solid State Technology
lift your fingers a little bit more. -
absolutely! it's gotten worse as of late, though. it used to be the only time you saw a mac was in a movie or in a school. i wonder what % of the desktops in the world are running os x. it's got to be more than 10% by now.

I put in three teaching applications. gimme vibes!

i went rack a long time ago, so my pedal board is just a midi switcher. boring, i know.

my biggest bitch about apple is they have largely stopped selling computers (and related goods) and have been in the business of marketing a lifestyle. it bugs me when i watch movies and tv shows and see the iconic apple on desks in the background. i've even seen police stations using apple computers on tv. crazy stupid product placements make me really go limp on supporting this company.

flatwound bass strings were so common in the 70s. i had a few old basses i got at garage sales with flatwounds. they last forever, but sound, well, flat.

and another thing -- will the zune work on my mac? nope. my ipod works on my mac and the windows machine i have at work. looking at zune's website - the software won't even work on all the older versions of windows (that LOTS of computers still run on). zune also has an accessibility hurdle to overcome that ipods do not have to deal with nearly as much.

i drank the apple kool-aid a long time ago. my 6 year-old g4 is a hell of a lot more computer than my 4 year-old windows machine of comparable price. like so many things, it really depends on what you use them for. a corvette and a cube truck are both exceptional for what they do. if all you're doing is playing on the internet and writing papers for school, windows is a better value (between the two). if you're doing something requiring several applications at the same time, or ram intensive (audio/video), the mac architecture in allocating ram works better. it's not the processor, but the pro

the time life cd box set MALTSHOP MEMORIES has pretty much everything, so start there.

the GC acoustics often have dead strings and are set up poorly. it's tough to buy from GC (at least around here) because you could have a diamond in your hands and it'll feel like coal.

What does Wilcoworld think of Blueridge J45 copy?
anodyne replied to rosebud's topic in Solid State Technology
if it's that good of a copy, gibson will sue (as they sued all the japanese makers in the late 70s).
