  1. I have seen them 4 times since 2002. Twice at the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center, once at Tampa Theater and once at Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater. So the shortest distance was Ruth Eckerd at 42.1 miles The longest was Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center at 53.8 miles. Actually, the difference between Tampa Theater and the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Centre is only .2 of a mile. But at Tampa Theater I was in the back of the venue near the soundboard, and once at the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center I was at the edge of the stage, so I guess that's the furthest I traveled. The second time at TBAC
  2. This is up on Dime a Dozen as a .ts file and something to see. Only 15 minutes & 3 songs. I'm surprised they actually played as long as they did. You can see the rain all over the guitars.
  3. The combo of We 've Been Had followed by Give Back the Key to My Heart goes back to the Uncle Tupelo days. I wish I had seen that.
  4. Less Than You Think - there are live, short (drone-less) versions of the song performed around 2000 - 03 in which the verses are switched around. The verse switch and the short length make a big difference - at least to me, in the meaning I take away from the song. Secret of the Sea - I love what sounds like a sitar in the mix. It probably isn't, but I have this image in my mind of Jay Bennett sitting cross-legged on the floor playing one. Glad It's Over - My new favorite that I discovered from the Alpha box set. Sounds like it was a really fun song to make.
  5. Lester Holt told me tonight that the average age of the Rolling Stones is greater than the average age of the Supreme Court. Now that's something to get upset about!
  6. "And it's not silly to want to make it better. Right? OK, it's a little silly. But it feels so good. Just give a damn, sometimes." Jeff Tweedy, 2008 Chicago Residency
  7. How much was the question worth? The tougher questions are usually worth more. Did anyone get it right?
  8. I love my wife. She threw a party for my 59th birthday and this is the cake she hade made:
  9. On Kanye's advice, they all turned their Grammy awards over to Beyoncé.
  10. So sad to see him leave earth, but it would be illogical to believe that it wouldn't be inevitable.
  11. "Hoedown" by Emerson, Lake & Palmer - summer of 1974 at the Civic Arena in Pittsburgh, PA. A great opener - they used what they called a "quadrophonic sound system" - additional speakers were set at the back of the venue. Actually, my first concert was John Denver in 1972 at the ISU Mini-dome in Pocatello, Idaho. While I do remember the Boons Farm wine and how I thought it was neat that he did almost all of the concert solo, no song stands out in memory. ELP, however was incredible.
  12. Enjoyed very much - thank you for hunting, gathering and sharing!
  13. Didn't the LP version contain about 5 additional songs?
  14. I hope the "Cars Can't Escape" version here is the slower demo version that only had Jay on the piano. That version was beautiful, but always was cut off at the end as someone said "Beautiful" before the final note finished. I'll pay the 30 bucks for that song alone if they have cleaned it up. I think I have most, if not all of these tracks from the archives, but I really hope they have improved on the sound. I think most hardcore Wilco fans would expect that to be done before they shell out money for tracks that had for years and that were free.
  15. Cold Shoulder Wait Up No Sense In Loving If we're talking about songs that UT covered, then my list would include: Great Atomic Power I Wanna Destroy You Left In The Dark Sin City I do recall that Wilco once did perform No Depression once, even though Jay did the lead vocal when UT recorded it.
  16. MTV rotation. Does that even exist anymore? Watching MTV for music videos is kinda like trying to find out if it's going to rain tomorrow by watching the Weather Channel..
  17. very funny - never thought I'd say this, but they make a good comedic pair.
  18. I love the covers concert - the first nite of the last Solid Sound festival. They all seemed to have so much fun and Marquee Moon was a knockout.
  19. This has got to be one of the best interview of Jeff Tweedy I have ever read - it's so touching!
  20. Yes Jeff did have some surgery, I believe either what's called Septoplasty or Turbinate Reduction (or possibly both). I think it was done for the migranes he was having. I've had it done and it's not a whole lot of fun. Jeff does seem to sing songs in a different key during live performances over the years Usually noticable when you listen to live recordings Wilco did in the early 2000's compared to now. I wonder what songs like No More Poetry or More Like the Moon would sound like if he recorded them now. Of course, I wonder what some of his old UT songs like Train or That Year would song lik
  21. Which Bee Gee would Pat and John be most suited to play? Personally, I think Pat could play Barry based on hair alone.
  22. I have to say that I am honestly surprised at the negative and/or tepid reactions to this. I enjoyed the (don't know if this is the correct term) double-tracking of the vocals, something I don't remember hearing since YHF. I liked the simplicity of both the song and the video. imo, just because the technology used to make the video might be "old" doesn't automatically make it bad or cheap. Wilco makes a lot of music using vintage equipment, why not do the same in making a video? Sorry, don't mean to sound so defensive, I just liked it a lot.
  23. is up on the Wilco home page. Nice relaxing, simple video, beautiful song. "".. afterwards I found my face in the trash." Love that lyric.
