I went Culvers, Baja Fresh, and Jimmy Johns.

Rally's and Hardee's have gone the way of the dodo here in N. IL.... We just got our first Del Tacos scattered about... WTF is the fuss about there, they are about as nasty as can be. I love the Taco Johns 10x better (potato oles and taco bravos RULE), hell even the T. Bell gut rot is a half step above Del Taco. Wendy's is a safe bet, and that was my pick off the choices on the poll... although I am pissed that the chipotle dipping sauce was phased out a year ago or so. It was hands down the best way to enjoy those golden 5 pc nuggets from the 99 cent menu. Jimmy John's is quite good

I am a 58... so if we are intended to win anything, we are choosing from the same shelf. If nobody closer offers you anything, I will share some of the chili and cornbread if you want to stop over...

Keep jamming on the Squier until you find the right pawn shop prize. Buying new on a smaller budget never seems to be the best way to go unless you are willing to completely rebuild the thing over time... Even then, you have a Frankenstein for the price of a custom shop. Look for something WELL played to get that cost down, and don't focus on the condition of the hardware... bridge parts and tuners are easy to come by on ebay, and even a fret job and a new nut are reasonable once you get to know a good luthier. Unless you are planning to put it in a case over your desk, don't sweat th

How about maybe they just met a real contender of a team in Wisconsin, and they were outplayed? The Badgers lost to Illinois, Penn State, and Ohio State this year... all on the road. The significance there is that the #2 RB, Lance Smith was suspended by UW (not by NCAA) and was not allowed to travel with the team after an argument with his girlfriend in the off season where he pushed her to the ground and was charged with battery. I am not condoning this or minimizing what Smith did, but the bottom line is that Barry Alvarez (UW Athletic Director) levied the suspension on his player, not

This cock tease of a thread earns the OP one of those hard Elaine shoves... "get out !!" Hopefully someone in the vicinity can deliver before the eligibility expires.

I'm going back about 18 years, but mine was something along the lines of... be yourself, so nobody else has to.

This is exactly why I stay away from that place, and why you guys should do the same... http://www.news.com/8301-10784_3-9812929-7.html It's like our stupid little industry has it's own uber-geek hardcore, willing to incite the online equivalent of a soccer riot over their favorite HD disc player format. If I were not so completely disgusted with this, I would probably be laughing at it. If anyone has any questions, pose them here and I will do my best.

For any of you in the Whitetail belt, chili is a GREAT use for venison... There is a cold buttermilk soak trick to get rid of any "gamey" taste, and then it really tastes like a lean beef or bison... IMO, the meat in chili should be fairly neutral and not have a strong flavor on it's own, and I would rather have a humanely harvested wild animal from a properly managed wilderness in my area than a cow pumped full of rGBH (and god knows what else) from a slaughterhouse... If you are sending the meat through a grinder.... end of story... If you like cubed meat (a la stew meat) in your ch

They already exist... How's that for instant gratification!! HD-DVD has released several titles in a "combo" format... These are just some of the titles packaged this way. 16 Blocks 300 Army of Darkess Bourne Ultimatum Breach Dazed and Confused Good Night and Good Luck Fast Times at Ridgemont High Hot Fuzz Jet Li's Fearless Music & Lyrics Land of The Dead New Orleans Concert: Knocked Up Oceans' Thirteen Superman Returns TMNT (Teenage Mutant.. heroes in a halfshell) We Are Marshall If you go to Amazon and put "Combo HD DVD" in the search, you will see a lot more...

Pat looks more and more like Beck every time I see a photo of him....

Kat Von D?? C U next tuesday.... But she does have a sexy "rural Arizona truck stop motel encounter" look about her.

You are correct... The entry level HD-DVD players like the HD-A2 or HD-A3 from Toshiba which max at 1080i will be just as good as a model that goes to 1080p when you are setting it at a lower rate for your current HDTV. You want to select the "native" rate of the TV anyway... Not necessarily... The bandwidth is there, but the soundtrack is originally designed for theatrical playback. COUNT on the music to be heavily compressed as a part of the production. The lack of compression in the transfer to the home version is not going to bring the dynamics back to the music. The THX prog

a.miller... Don't think that there was any malice or insult of any type intended!! A friend in the industry coined a perfect a/v geek phrase in regard to AVS... The threads on AVS have a poor signal to noise ratio. In the early days of AVS there were curious newbs, and a LOT of pros and manufacturers there to add value and really help out. In a thread about (pick a topic) there would be 30 replies, 20 of which were solid information that would really add to your general overall knowledge on the subject.... Today, there are 300 (or 3,000) replies, and still only about 20 which will ad

Please don't intentionally direct otherwise intelligent people to the AVS Forum... That entire area is a minefield and a lot of conjecture from armchair quarterbacks. You will rarely see anyone with a real perspective in that area, their views are quickly buried (and many times rudely contradicted) by the masses. This is my industry of 16+ years, and I was a frequent contributor there and still have an HT construction threads turned sticky. An industry reviewer called the pseudo-experts from the internet forums "exuberant monkeys" who simply regurgitate information posted by actual expe

Things I think are right with this country

You can APPLY to go to Cuba... but the State Dept. (or whatever it is called) has to approve it. A friend from another online playground who is a notoriously decent human being went there this Summer. There may have been some altruistic motive, but I am not sure... I remember a thread on our other place where he outlined the process. I believe it took a year or so to get the paperwork in order. He sent a pic of Puerto Padre... Looks nice! -

#1 reason for me is that we can have these types of discussions in the first place w/out fear being persecuted under some oppressive entity. As for Cuba... A friend just got back and said that elements of the gorgeous, tourist-friendly / rich & famous hotspot Cuba of the early 20th Century are still alive, and that the DAY they lift the sanctions it will once again be a roaring tourist hot spot. -
Yeah, sometimes I wish I could still find my Vinnie Vincent Invasion cassette...

I have seen Def Leppard twice... And decided NOT to see them probably about a dozen times even as my friends were all traveling to numerous shows throughout the years whenever they came anywhere near the Midwest.... My shows... Once on the Pyromania tour, and again about 7-8 years ago on some sort of tour that put them on an outdoor stage at Davis Park in Rockford, IL... At the Pyromania tour, I was a jr. high kid who was wide eyed and basically blown away at the sheer power of a band that I thought was just great. Seeing some hot young girls flashing their chests and throwing their panti

This thread has me wanting to buy another razor!! I am lewaning toward the Edwin Jagger "light horn" handled safety razor... (note to vegans and tree huggers, it's FAUX animal horn made from polyester resin) Or should I venture into the World of Fusion or Sensor3 and get a cartridge model??

Why shave?? To remain employable would be the first answer... http://forums.viachicago.org/style_emotico...ault/tongue.gif Second answer is to avoid the inevitable itchy phase of beard growing. Lotions, hair conditioners, I have tried them all... I hate when my face gets all itchy... I have been using the old standby of the Gillette Good News twins... No pivoting, and no BS... just two sharp blades that are easy to rinse clean, and I control the angle and the pressure. I went Mach3 for a while when that was new, but the extra dough is not justified IMO. Also, FWIW, the practi

OK Computer was a little hard to really get into when it was released (IMO), because it was SO different... In today's world, it would probably be nearly immediately accessible for new fans. IMO, OK Computer is their best work, and one of my favorite CDs to pull back out from time to time to relax and get back into my rhythm. Another Brit band called Kent would also be on that list... I believe my fave CD is called Isola... Kid A was bashed on that Blender list, but I like it... Bends is a no-brainer.... Pablo Honey was more radio-friendly and has more of a broad appeal, but it's stil

Nice to see that I am not alone.... I had a faux-ivory handled badger hair brush w/ matching silver stand, and shaving soap holder, that you had to lather up and apply w. the brush. Although I am a huge fan of creams these days, I would say that I found the homemade lather each morning to be FAR superior to any aerosol lather.... As for that set... The Ex broke it, stole it, or gave it to one of her trashy family once when I was on a business trip because she was a C-word... Several hundred of my CDs, and nearly ALL of my DVDs suffered the same fate before the end (and pretty much helpin
