  1. Soul Asylum at a private show at the Opera club in Atlanta. Cost $0, and I was basically 4 feet from Dan the whole show, and even chatted with him between songs. That night was ruined when some ATL cops hit me on the head with a flashlight and arrested me on BS charges. Cost $1,100, and 12 hours with Atlanta's most polite criminals (honestly, they were cool to me).
  2. I see a lot of great lists, and I am not going to regurgitate the titles already presented, but rather put up some titles that I believe are notably missing from the lists so far. Mission of Burma -- Obliterati ====== Mission of Burma -- The Sound, The Speed, The Light ====== Mission of Burma -- ONoffON (this one is also in SACD) ====== Killing Joke (S/T 2003) ====== Shellac -- 1,000 Hurts (aka 1KHz) ====== Warren Zevon -- Life'll Kill Ya. (someone mentioned "The Wind", which is also on my list) ====== Vic Chesnutt -- North Star Deserter (although the
  3. Here's a Yamaha integrated in excellent shape for $75. http://www.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?intatran&1258577413&/Yamaha-A-500 And here is a pair of older Tannoy 2-ways that appear to be in great shape as well. http://www.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?spkrmoni&1257533078&/Tannoy-proto-j Total cost $165 plus some shipping, no tax.
  4. According to the tech specs on Stanton's site, the outputs are "phono", which means you probably need a phono preamp to re-equalize the output. It's actually a little bit vague. Try a used hi-fi store for a nice little integrated amp w. a phone stage, and a nice pair of used bookshelf speakers. In Chicago, we have Saturday Audio Exchange. www.audiogon.com is a nice online resource for used hi-fi, and you definitely have a better chance of getting a functional unit over eBay.
  5. Those shots are great... I love the little girl who looks like she is doing the Frankenstein dance on her daddy's shoulders.
  6. Title says it all. Mission of Burma LP/CD The Sound, The Speed, The Light. Who bought it? Who is planning to go buy it?
  7. Music Direct has a decent selection of 180g and better vinyl reissues, including a LOT of great albums which I would love to re-buy.
  8. I have found that I have had a similar weak link in any guitar rigs I have assembled. I look at it like a giant stress relief exercise, whether or not I ever play any better is almost irrelevant.
  9. Anyone looking for Vox in the Midwest, I have heard nothing but great stories about North Coast Music in Milwaukee... They check the tubes and burn in each unit before it leaves, which is reassuring to me. The friend who turned me on to this place bought his AC-15 there. http://www.voxshowroom.com/northcoast/why_..._ncm/index.html Having heard that amp on their recordings and during countless hours of practice and numerous gigs, I agree that the AC-15 is a wonderful amp.
  10. We have heard 2 dead, plus the gunman (who shot himself) This is tragic.
  11. It was NIU, Cole Hall, Room 101, Intro to Ocean Science, Professor Peterson.
  12. The local news in Rockford is reporting cell phone towers are way past max capacity, if you are attempting to reach anyone in Dekalb, use a landline, or try IM or email. What could cause these kids to open fire on their classmates??
  13. Bob Mould said that the band rarely got paid any royalties from sales of the records made in their indie days, even after they started getting bigger and the early records were right next to the major label albums in every record store. Maybe Bob could sue for the tapes and rights, and re-release them on Granary. Either way, I am not holding my breath.
  14. I love how Russell calls her a baby, yet he is the one flipping out in a full blown tantrum. I would imagine he didn't treat Ice Cube, Clooney or Wahlberg in this manner, or he might have had some lumps for it. Although I will say I find his movies to be well crafted, Russell is an ace of clubs douchebag. As for the Berman thing, I can absolutely see why he flipped out. I worked with people who liked to screw around like that and they drove me nuts...
  15. 6' 1" tall, and the DL optimistically says 250 for weight.... Male (I'm a man, yes I am... and I can't help but to love you so) Records. My childhood collection is long gone, and I had some pretty cool stuff. In a feeble attempt to settle a debt owed to me my a family member, I recently inherited a metric sh*t ton of vinyl which he picked up from an estate auction... Mostly 70s/80s hard rock, some rare stuff (like the complete "Elf" catalog w/ Ronnie James Dio). The 2-3 picture discs eBayed from this collection paid off that debt.... now I just want the rest out of my house with l
  16. Sorry for the F bombs. I will not apologize for the hot cheerleader/band girl ani-gif. After witnessing that Spiderman thing, my vision went blurry and I blacked out for a moment.... No sane human needs to have that in their visual memory, so I will assume the brain kicked in some sort of self preservation mode. After that, I HAD to cleanse the palate (so to speak) with a pleasant pleated skirt/panty shot like that. I certainly didn't mean to offend. There is no nudity, and it has certainly been around before.... if anyone wants it, hit me with a PM.
  17. I don't know what the f the spiderman thing was about... I hope cartoon rabbits and leprechauns steal your f-ing cereal for that shit. Let's get this back on track... (Note: Image edited out by admin due to inappropriate content) There, much better.
  18. I think she is textbook sexy in the heavily marketed Barbie-esque body/face. I stopped lusting after that aesthetic in Jr. High, but then again boy band stars and football players are still at that level of maturity when the topic is females. The younger sister has more personality, and that has it's merits... the plastic surgery was successful, but I am more of a fan of mother nature's work, than Doc Hollywood. Also, that younger Simpson needs to vow to never step foot in a studio or on stage ever again. As for what IS hot/cute/etc. I have historically been more attracted to slender
  19. Happy birthday. I hope that nobody planned a cheesy Bennigans/Applebees style waitstaff sing-song birthday thing for you. Unless you like that, in which case I hope someone DID plan this for you. Enjoy your birthday.
  20. I know it's incredibly obvious as these lines are from one of their most popular songs, but where I am from nepotism runs rampant.... Bastards of Young, 'Mats, Tim God, what a mess, on the ladder of success, you take one step and miss the whole first rung Dreams unfulfilled, graduate unskilled, beats pickin' cotton and waitin' to be forgotten. Lookin' Out Forever, PW Solo, Suicane Gratifaction This one unfortunately just perfectly fits an ugly period in my life. Ain't nothing else I can say, nothin' left to give her Abandon the wind, I'm a bend in the river Standing by the bank, they
  21. Good bets are that this stuff is headed to St. Louis, Chicago, or Indy... Public notice, keep your eyes (and ears) peeled for anyone trying to sell this equipment. Please note this list of equipment recently stolen from U of I. 22. Hardly.... Some greedy capitalist types who SOLD to A-B ruined a lot of lives in Latrobe. Same thing happened with LaCrosse, WI and Miller Beer's acquisition of Old Style from Heileman's and the move of Old Style across the State to Milwaukee (where the rest of Miller's piss is made). Latrobe needs to fight back, like LaCrosse did. Same recipes and same brewmasters as the original Old Style, in the same brewery.... I never particularly care for Old Style, and I pretty much stopped drinking altogether for health reasons, but many of my Chicago friends do love the Old Style. Each
  23. Thanks for providing this link!! I have donated in the mid-400s so far, and I have been told that my best level is 41!! I have no idea what that means, but I will assume it to be a complement.
  24. I really hope that this doesn't result in an overzealous douchebag distributor somehow pulling a legal move and owning a little brewery with a great potential who decided to stand up against them and break a contract. Stranger things have happened...
