  1. Mission of Burma is another example of righteous bands coming back strong...
  2. Johnny Cash did four of them with Rick Rubin... but they were great.
  3. Neil Young, or Neil Peart?? Each has merit to be considered... (Rush haters, read "Ghost Rider" before you hate on NP)
  4. Cory Chisel and the Wandering Sons... I have a CD from when they were called Breathing Machine that is great. Seek them out, they are all over the midwest. They did a show in Fon Du Lac (or Oshkosh, somewhere up there) where Rick Nielsen and Bun E. Carlos sat in as special guests.
  5. I loved Jeff, and I bought Grace when it came out from a recommendation in Spin or Alt Press or one of those shiny mags I read back then... Kyle, I remember that '95 show at Metro, I had the Metro ad ripped from the IE (Illinois Entertainer for anyone outside Chicagoland), and high-lited that show and posted on my bulletin board at work (for you young'uns, I am referring to an actual cork board, not a BBS...). It was up there for years... Surprisingly, I got comments from the least likely places about the shows I had high-lited on my board. I made some friends and interesting acquaintance
  6. You may notice that I said "donated"... besides, I was hardly calling SA sellouts, just pointing out that the move got their song WAY overplayed. Yes, with "alternative" at the peak of it's popularity, SA were all over radio and MTV at the time, but it seemed like the runaway ads were every few minutes. IMO, Sheryl Crow is the epitome of a sellout... Although I may be in the market soon, I have no idea what models or promotions Subaru may be offering this year. Every time the ad comes on, I have to change the station.
  7. If he didn't before... He does now!!
  8. VW has always had cool ads with fairly hip music... Da, da, da.... Also, the fucking WHO are all over network TV with the god damned CSI. (meet the new boss... same as the... whatever, go sell something.) Some dick sold the Kinks "Tired of Waiting" into a grocery store ad where they promised to open a new register of there were more than 4 people in one line... That was probably a decade ago, but you know how I remember the content of the ad?? I was flipping out that the Kinks music was behind it. "Revolution" sold Nike shoes.... for Christ's sake. (worst endorsement ever, thanks Mi
  9. I was going to help you find your precious shirts... but after that comment, perhaps not.
  10. No pain, no brain. (coming from a reformed 6-day-per-week gym rat)
  11. Soul Asylum were a part of the original unpluggeds... I wish I could find that somewhere... I had the Clapton version on Laserdisc.
  12. There is an interview with OJ in Playboy where he says that the Browns only participated in the civil trial because they wanted to make sure that at least a portion of his fortune stayed in line to go to his kids.... He claims that the Browns didn't want the Goldmans to win the entire estate, and that the Browns actually believe that he was not a part of their daughter's death. The gloves didn't fit, man....
  13. I got flat out shafted in the Smashing Pumkkins TRUE shark jump moment... They thought that they were the best draw on the planet, and they WERE a solid draw... but the time they tried to book Soldier Field (a la Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney) they jumped the shark... I was standing in line at the local department store waiting in line for the ticketmaster counter... I actually the lottery pull, and I was first in line. I got EIGHT tickets in the eighth row, near center, at Soldier Field!! Awesome!! Except.... Yes, there is a shitty side to that story. The stadium was not selling fas

  17. If anyone could help to seed the etree file, I would certainly be appreciated... Thanks in advance, Rick.
  18. Blowing a few lines isn't exactly getting back on the hard drugs when you are Keef. Most people in that culture see dusting off a few rails like the casual drinker would see taking a shot of liquor with your pint of beer. I remember an article in Rolling Stone a few years afo where Keef called himself "polytoxic" and said that his favorite drug was medical grade cocaine.
  19. Thanks to VT for the quick reply, and thanks to Wilco for being such a cool band... I see a lot of low post people asking for PMs... Just remember, this is something that the band does to show respect for their most avid fans who WILL buy the CDs anyway... You WILL still be buying the CDs right?? The best way to pay the band back is to get in on the pre-order (when it is announced) at the band's site, or to buy your copy from the merch table at a show. That way the band gets a greater share of the final price than if the distributors and retailers get their fingers in the pie. Support
  20. A-man, can I get in on the PM please?? TIA. Also, feel free to send along the Dick's Picks as well!!
  21. Me too... but I am fine with this thread... refresh, refresh, refresh...
  22. So far I like everything I have heard... Although I am afraid it's R.I.P. to the AM/BT era rockers...
  23. L&L!!! I love that place!! Cool place to hang when the show you planned to see at the Vic gets sold out... Many varieties of Irish Whisky on a chalkboard menu, and a jukebox full of cool tunes (one of very few places I have found the Replacements in the jukebox) Play "Left of the dial" and try a glass of Connemara or Red Breast. If you are not a drinker and plan to just drink water, bring a bottle with you... Trust me.
  24. 14 bucks at BevMo dot com... http://www.bevmo.com/productinfo.asp?sku=0...mp;area=spirits
