  1. Time to refresh the RA archive every hour until the recording gets posted
  2. WOW is basically all I can say after this show. Ryan and the Cards ripped it up for more than 2 and a half hours, 2 encores. The show was pretty massive. I don't know if it was because of Jon Graboff's birthday, the full moon or what, but they just kept playing and playing. Great to see Ryan playing guitar again, he played the entire show. Ok, time to go pick up my jaw after the floor, still recovering from tonight.
  3. The 4:20 thing seems like tongue-in-cheek Ryan humor.
  4. Last time they came by I was out of town, but by all accounts they are excellent live. If you love OR, you'll love Shearwater. Meiburg did a terrific job with Palo Santo, definitely one of the best albums of 2006. I have assorted track from Winged Life, Everybody Makes Mistakes, and Thieves, and they are all good as well.
  5. Have a dream about NMH tonight, maybe we'll get some good news tomorrow.
  6. That one might be permanently retired, Jeff's feelings on the song echo the title.
  7. Yeah but Easy Tiger doesn't seem to be getting much critical praise. I could see how this record could grate on some fans, but I'm genetically predisposed to love his output.
  8. Thanks for those pics Walken, nicely done
  9. Haha, Jeff got a kick out of you, that was pretty funny. I had a good time and it was a fun show, very light-hearted atmosphere. I liked when Jeff tried to catch the twizzlers in his mouth "What are you guys throwing? Sizzlers? Twizzlers? Actually throw sizzlers at me, I'm hungry" Some of the crowd was not so cool though. There were drunk idiots behind me who yelled California Stars at the top of their lungs every .5 seconds, including when Wilco left the stage for encores. They also sang together as a chorus, butchering most of the songs lyrics Pretty lame peeps. Also, after last ye
  10. After reading the indie media roundup of Easy Tiger reviews today, I feel like RA got shafted. It seems like most of his fans consider this a strong release (at least 7 or 8/10 area), but the reviews tended to be around the 5 or 6 out of 10 area with not much to enthuse about. Seems like a review I would have written if I had only listened to the record about 2 or 3 times and then wrote about it instead of letting myself wrap my mind around it over repeated listens. I feel like a lot of the reviews got it all wrong, Easy Tiger ain't Ryan Adams-lite, it's just quality songwriting. I think many
  11. I'm so happy they are still playing the Iron Horse, stick to the small clubs boys!
  12. Why couldn't they have played the songs they soundchecked I had a bit higher expectations for the set list, was twas a good show.
  13. Starts at 7, I don't know how long Low's sets have been, but I guestimate Wilco will come on around 8:30.
  14. The weather forecast has changed to just partly clouded
  15. First listen impressions: Doesn't have the same atmosphere as BSB, but it seems like the songwriting is still there. A lot of big guitars John Allyn Smith Sails is a pretty cool song...wait, what did they just do there in the second half? haha that came out of nowhere (i won't ruin it for those who haven't listened yet). Time to listen again
  16. Dah ooops, I just meant his regular old acoustic show.
  17. The near universal panning of 29 has made me put off listening to it for so long, I've only listened to it twice. Now I find myself brushing up on it in anticipation of his solo show.
  18. Isolated thundestorms for tomorrow. Better not fucking rain!
  19. I can't ever see myself living below the Mason-Dixon line
  20. As other people have pointed, many other record labels have done this, to single out any one band is absurd. Pitchfork's whiny, bitchy rant focuses on the Pumpkins because Billy Corgan/SP is an easy target. Even if Corgan strongly objected, there probably isn't much he could do to sway the label. Artists have surprisingly little say in matters like these. Corgan's track record indicates he is pretty fan friendly (giving away Adore proceeds to charity, releasing last SP album online along with countless unreleased songs and demos, etc). Although Pitchfork would like to make a sensationalist sto
  21. Anyone else at the show last night at the Middle East? It was rockin'!
  22. Have you heard Apostle of Hustle - National Anthem of Nowhere? Underrated album this year.
