Happy Birthday to one of the only true VC icons.

Damn, look at all those dates! They need to come back to Florida.

Yeah, it was pretty cool seeing Uncle Frankie's work get some screen time. Not to be confused with School of Rock, which totally ripped off this guy's ideas and work.

Is this the best song ever?
Mr. Heartbreak replied to Duck-Billed Catechist's topic in Someone Else's Song
It's not even in the Top 100. -
Stuff like that is pretty harmless. What shocked me was the people who wrote things like "Party it up, stoner," and "Well, you're another druggie in the crowd." Didn't anybody think Mom and Dad might read these things?

One of my wonderful high school "friends," knowing I was a big Dead and Zappa fan, signed my senior yearbook, Mike, you dead-headed iron sausage ... I was glad I didn't have to try to explain that one to my parents.

For my money, that is the best Jerry album. I've never heard better versions of Might As Well, Mission In The Rain, Catfish John or Must Have Been The Roses. Sublime.

Breaking news: http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/01...-endorse-obama/ Kiss of death? Maybe ... Boy, a picture really is worth a thousand words. Check out Obama's face. Hello, President McCain.

I have never understood the lack of love for Steal Your Face (at least on vinyl ... I've read that some people didn't like the CD transfer, and for whatever reason, the band didn't like the album in general). I don't know, I think the versions of Promised Land, Cold Rain & Snow and Mississippi Half Step are all killer!

I have most of the 2nd set of that show on an old cassette, and it is good indeed. Of course, we can all listen to many of these shows on archive.org any time. Great stuff.

I just wish it was November 5th already, so they could start the next recount.

Dang, you guys have some harrowing stories of what you went through to see Jerry and the boys! Floods? Injuries? About the worst thing I ever suffered was getting separated from the people I was with at Saratoga in '84. We were all dancing around (probably due to some chemical enjoyment as well as the great music...) and I guess I drifted too far from shore. Before I knew it, I was alone. I didn't care until after the show, when I couldn't find anybody, and I was NOT the driver. Eventually, I stood at the exit and put out my thumb. All was well, as some kind soul gave me a ride right to th

In that case, may I recommend Frost Ampitheatre, 10/9/82? Very loose, but Jerry is on fire most of the night (at least, to my ears). Some of my favorite versions of songs, including Alabama and the Throwin>Touch combo. http://www.archive.org/details/gd82-10-09....5800.sbeok.shnf

Unfortunately, I only got to the 9/13/91 show ... still pretty good, though.

Add me to the vast pile of people who say "The roommate should pay half per their original agreement, no matter how often they stay there." If an owner of a house agrees to let someone else move in and be their roommate - and the owner, after all, pays the mortgage - then said owner cannot, by definition, be a "freeloader." The roommate should make other arrangements that make more financial sense, such as living somewhere where they will actually pay half the rent or mortgage. This is all kind of a no-brainer, for an objective outsider, anyway.

Yeah, the scene got totally ruined by idiots who only knew Touch of Grey from the radio and showed up expecting to hear it. Then they'd be pissed if the band didn't play it. My shows were all between 82 & 84, except for one "last gasp" at MSG in 91 ... which was pretty good, but still a little too out there for me.

Where to start with The Grateful Dead?
Mr. Heartbreak replied to reverandgroove's topic in Someone Else's Song
