  1. He is the man. That was freakin' hilarious.
  2. Hell, everyone on the train probably still remembers it too!
  3. Easy, kiddies. Don't make me close this thread on you.
  4. Well, I'm certainly not going to get rid of it, but like TheMaker, I think it will remain safely outside my top ten. Who knows, maybe in 20 years I'll love it from start to finish...
  5. Ouch. May I ask why? Is it more the music or the lyrics?
  6. Okay, I thought I was somewhat of an Anglophile, having obtained an advanced degree in English, but some of this slang escapes even me. ?? Abbreviation for scrotums? What the hell are these? Are they like bangers? Think I heard this in a Monty Python bit somewhere... Help a mate out, here!
  7. Interesting... I will admit right away that I was significantly underwhelmed by it, and will most likely prefer Nashville Skyline when I pick it up (it's next on the list). My first impressions: Title track: Good opener, but I actually prefer Jeff Tweedy's solo cover of it. How's that for sacrilege? As I Went Out One Morning: Slooow. Hard to keep my attention on this one. I Dreamed I Saw St. Augustine: Interesting take on the I Dreamed I Saw Joe Hill theme, but it seems like a step down from his previous "derivative" works. Watc
  8. I know it's just shameful, but this is a disc I never actually heard in its entirety until I recently acquired it. (I have most of the stuff from before it, and a few more from after it.) Now that I've listened to it a couple times, I wonder how others rate this album in the massive Dylan canon. Top 5? Top 20? And why do you rank it that high, or that low, or whatever. I'm really, really curious.
  9. I have to say, give Leroy his props. One of the things that bothered me the most about Jay was how loud his keyboards would be in the mix. Listening to soundboards from the ST days, it's almost enough to make my head explode ... especially on what I think of as "guitar songs," like Always In Love. In live performances, Jay frequently was to Wilco what Donna was to the Grateful Dead. Glad you liked that 7/4/98 show, mountain bed.
  10. No problem, but I'm still going to make fun of the chick who looks like Nick Lachey.
  11. Okay, it took me a week to see this response. So many threads, so little time. I think one of the main reasons I don't like the official releases of YHF and AGIB is that I "ruined" them for myself by listening to a bunch of live versions of the material before it was released. The only exception was "Wishful Thinking," which I really liked in its studio incarnation. Other than that, I couldn't stand these records, and hardly ever listen to the studio versions, preferring live recordings by about 1000%... I'm curious to see if I love the new album if I have few preconceived notions about it...o
  12. At the time I thought it was great, but when I saw the band 3 times in 2002, I realized I liked the sound of those songs much better after he was gone.
  13. She does look sort of like a female Nick Lachey, so there you go.
  14. Heh heh. Speaking of Bowie and Eno and those guys, there's a nice article about Eno's Herefordshire art exhibit at the bottome of this web page under "Editor's Choice": http://www.netscape.com/viewstory/2006/07/...&frame=true
  15. Nope. I can always ignore Bon Jovi, but life would be immeasurably bleaker without Ziggy.
  16. That's awesome. And yes, the Wilsons have become officially annoying, along with Vince "I Get Brad Pitt's Sloppy Seconds" Vaughan.
  17. Dude, here's my solution to that problem. You have chosen to ignore all posts from: Dr. EL Feelgood.
  18. There's the heart of the story right there...emphasis on the phrase stem-cell lines that have been derived in recent years. We're not talking about creating fetus farms here. This country is really moving backwards fast. Scary. By the way, on this question... ...I'm gonna vote $0.00.
  19. Wow, I'm trying to resist the temptation to listen to any more unreleased material, and you guys are killing me with this stuff. I've heard Is That the Thanks I Get (saw it on TV), On & On & On (mp3), The Good Part & Walken (saw both live in person), but I haven't succumbed yet to checking out Either Way, Impossible Germany, What Light?, or Lets Fight. I'm hoping I can make it to album time, but I'm not making any promises...
  20. Yeah, Annie Hall is a classic. So were Take The Money And Run, Manhattan, Sleeper, Hannah and Her Sisters, and Love And Death. I also thought Interiors was really good (though not funny at all...not meant to be).
  21. I only type aboutr 30 words a minute, but usually with no mistakes..except now, of course.
