Bushnell is kind of a storied venue. Jerry Garcia used to play there back in the 80s.

I'm going to say early 80s?

Score!

I love how this thread periodically devolves into parody and irrelevancy...just like our government!

I can live without seeing much of him. Boy, this audio reminds you of what terrible parents some of these hippies were. "There's a bunch of kids in the Kiddie Tent crying for their parents" or whatever. Jesus.

That's for the backup singers. I'm a songwriter, man.

I'm listening to the show before I watch the movie, as I didn't want to get burned out on the audio. Have seen some of it, and am aware that I will see more than I bargained for of "pole man's," er, pole.

Mr. Heartbreak replied to HighFives's topic in Someone Else's Song
They come out in December so not sure anyone here can answer that yet. -
Velvet Underground bootleg w/ Previously unheard song.

I guess this is the closest thing we have to a Velvet Underground thread around here, so it's is where I'll put this: http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/the-velvet-underground-to-reissue-white-light-white-heat-20131001?utm_source=dailynewsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=newsletter -
I'll fight, I'll fight, I'll fight, I'll fight Against a shutdown, a shutdown, a shutdown... Like that?

I figure I will get a hefty dose (no pun intended) of that in the DVD too. I will skip it every time I play the CDs. But then, I am an impatient bastard. My least favorite Dead shows are the ones with long sections of tuning between the tunes. I love when people chop those into tracks called "Tuning" that I know I can skip.

I finally got my copy of SSDD, and have been listening to it while driving to and from work. Pretty happy with the sound, and it's a really good show, but: is anyone else annoyed at all by how much of the banter/announcements they left in? Damn, the first track is an entire four minutes of that crap. Of course, I could live with that - easy to skip and won't bother uploading it onto iTunes - but there's more! That Playing In The Band which is listed as [19:57] isn't even that long because at the end of it, we get to listen to this schmo talking some more. I just want to hear the music. I

Could have been both, apparently. http://www.ibtimes.com/rush-vs-rush-rock-band-pulls-music-limbaugh-show-sponsors-continue-jump-ship-422504

At this point, the real elephant in the room is gerrymandering. Thanks to the way districts have been divided, it is unlikely that either the Rs or the Ds will have a massive year in 2014. I'd be willing to bet that, if anything, the Rs will pick up a few seats, and we will continue to have sharply divided (and highly ineffective) government. Scroll back through this thread in November 2014 and see if I was right. I hope I'm wrong.

For once, I think Jules might actually be right. In some Machiavellian way, the Dems might be pleased to see it hit the level of shutdown: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/10/01/congress-showdown-_n_4020631.html And, somewhat predictably, the shutdown is proving a bonanza for Democratic fundraising: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/10/01/shutdown-fundraising-dnc_n_4023477.html Don't get me wrong: I think Republicans, in particular the Tea Party jagoffs who will not cut any kind of a deal, are almost entirely responsible for this. Did they really expect the President to defund his s

This is pretty funny. It's about the finale, so, you know, major spoilers abound: http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/tv/showtracker/la-et-st-breaking-bad-finale-top-10-unanswered-questions-20130930,0,6092069.story

I am curious to know what is going to happen. I would really like to see some Roadcase compilation type release from the AmericanaramA tour, but not sure if that will ever come to pass. Failing that, all I can look forward to now, Wilco-wise, is the next release. Hope it is sooner rather than later!

Left Hanging: Netflix/Breaking Bad
Mr. Heartbreak replied to smells like flowers's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
You must have incredible impulse control to avoid reading about this stuff online. Sadly, the spoiler I gave you was only a joke. And an internet meme, thanks to Aaron Paul: http://www.vulture.com/2013/09/breaking-bed-walt-jesse-skyler-get-sexy-in-new-pic.html -
See, I would have hated that. I enjoyed the fact that Walt was able to use that M-60, but basically by remote control. One last chance to see him use that scientific mind to MacGyver his way through a situation. Not sure it really "fell into place" for him. Was he originally planning on killing himself along with the Nazis, and only hit the floor because he wanted to save Jesse, and, therefore, tackled him? Hard to say. My guess is yes, but either way, he ended up miscalculating (I think) and got hit by a bullet. That level of implausibility was fine for me, just as I was cool with him hav

Amazon has it too. Oh, and not to spoil it for you, but at the end, Jesse has sex with Skyler and then when Walt catches them, he kills them both. -
iTunes on random is hitting it out of the park today: Frank Zappa - The Ocean is The Ultimate Solution Rolling Stones - No Expectations Steely Dan - Everything You Did Grateful Dead - Cold Rain & Snow Damn, I don't need radio at all anymore....

So many nice little touches. I laughed out loud at the Skinny Pete/Badger reveal. Never suspected that. I also loved in the recent episode how Todd had some of Stephen Colbert's Americone Dream ice cream for Jesse. Nazis are impervious to irony.

Thoroughly enjoyed it. Walt owning that he did it for himself was a surprising, amazing twist. Had a sense of inevitability about it.

Love the Marty Robbins El Paso reference right up front! Kind of explains "Felina" as the title for the finale. Not just an anagram. Deadheads and Marty Robbins fans alike are digging it.
