New Jeff Tweedy album November 30th (called WARM)
u2roolz replied to Oil Can Boyd's topic in Just A Fan
I'm so relieved that these new songs that Jeff has been playing are going to be on a Jeff Tweedy record and not Wilco. Does anyone else feel this way? Of course, this means that eventually we'll be getting a new Wilco album that is still a mystery. -

^ I was going to tally up the new songs from After The Show to see how many he's played. Pretty sure Some Birds was being called I'd Like To Take You Down & Leave You There in After The Show. -

Well, it's too bad that my FB friend saw them on the only show in my area, so that ship has sailed. Lol I never read or heard about him coming around. I've met Steve Wynn (The Dream Syndicate/The Baseball Project) and he was super cool. Have you met him?

Thanks! Great find! I can't read any Variety links on myiPhone because there's a huge popup that covers most of the article. The 2 articles that I read last week never mentioned that it started out as a series, but I was fairly certain that I read about that sometime last year. Hopefully, we get that version at some point.

One of my FB friends & an old poster on here said that Peter Buck hung around the merch table after the show last night for pics & autographs. Cool beans!!!

Yeah, I'm starting to see more of Eve Hewson. I first saw her in Enough Said and then in Bridge Of Spies. I'm aware of The Knick, but haven't gotten around to it yet. [On a side note, when did Clive Owen all of a sudden start looking like Pete Postlethwaite. I guess it was inevitable.]She was also in the remake of Papillon which was really good and she'll be Maid Marian in the unnecessary remake of Robin Hood. I'm pretty sure most people have no idea who her father is. Most aren't familiar with the name Hewson.

Ozark's 1st season was terrific television. I binged it quicker than I had ever binged any Netflix series. The 2nd season starts off slow, but builds up momentum in the 3rd episode and maintains it for the rest of the season. Honestly, I'm not enjoying it as much because I watched the 1st season last August & forgot a few of the twists, character names, etc. Those of you that are just getting to this series & watching both seasons back to back might feel differently. If you watch Netflix through your Comcast X1 cable box, you get a nice recap of the prior season before the 1st episode

I was lucky enough to see Raising Arizona in the little art house cinema the day before Labor Day. Yes, you're right. It certainly does hold up. It always makes me laugh. I was disappointed to miss Barton Fink. I've never seen that one in a cinema. That little art house cinema is having a Coen Bros. retrospective this month. Fargo & The Big Lebowski are the other selections. I saw The Big Lebowski last month during one of the TCM 20th anniversary screenings and loved watching it with other fans. Speaking of the Coen Bros., their latest, The Ballad Of Buster Scruggs, is coming to Netflix

The setlist for the European show is a bit different. They have cut Love Is All We Have Left as the opener and are now opening with The Blackout. They haven't played Gloria or All Because Of You early in the show, but have instead played Red Flag Day at every show so far. They dropped Desire & replaced it with Even Better Than The Real Thing. Staring At The Sun has been dropped in favor of Summer Of Love. And in no big surprise American Soul has been dropped for European audiences. It has been replaced with a reworked version of New Year's Day that starts with the piano intro & then

Yes. I believe that came from a recent Rolling Stone article. I think they'll take off 2019 & 2020 and come back with an Achtung Baby 30th anniversary tour in 2021. I read somewhere on one of the U2 fan sites that they extended their Live Nation contract this year for another 10 years which would expire in 2028. The tour is back on and Bono's voice has come back. The postponed Berlin show from exactly a week ago will now take place on Nov 13th & will be the last show of this tour.

I figured that I would resurrect this thread, since tonight is the kickoff to the 3 year farewell tour. If you're going to one of these shows, which songs would you like to hear? The hits or album cuts that haven't been performed? Or are you "been there done that?" I just saw him 5 years ago in Boston and got the typical hits with 2 new songs from his then new album and Goodbye Yellow Brick Road's Your Sister Can't Twist, But She Can Rock N Roll which rocked. Excellent show, btw. I'm sort of on the fence for going to this tour. The ticket prices & a seemingly greatest hits show would

There should be a contest where Jeff Tweedy comes to your house and reads the book to you while try to sleep. Or Jeff will read to Stephen Colbert much like he sang him a lullaby a few years ago. I'll be buying the audio version.

Bono lost his voice about 45 minutes ago during the 2nd show of their European Experience & Innocence Tour in Berlin. He sounded worse than he did during the PopMart Sarajevo show 21 years ago where he also had a raspy blown voice, but carried on with the show because it was simulcast on radio. Bono told the band to take a break after the 5th song & someone came out to say that the band will try to come back on. Maybe The Edge will do Bono's vocals? No idea. Not looking good for the rest of the tour. Tons of people left during the break. He did sound amazing last night on the tou

I love the way how Jean Marc Vallee is using the camera & editing the images to tell this story, more so than the actual story itself. I love that it's done from the POV of Camille, so it feels like you're reading a book. To clarify, I'm curious who is killing the girls, but it's been so frustrating getting any traction on that matter that I understand that the focus is obviously on Camille's (Amy Adams) story which is really interesting but being fed to us in tiny bits of info. I have a few issues with the casting & the timeline. I usually love Patricia Clarkson, but I just feel t

Do you care if a band has a lazy setlist?
u2roolz replied to remphish1's topic in Someone Else's Song
Yeah, I did the same thing, but I parked in the Boston Garden garage. The only time that I heard the last song was at Mohegan Sun. And I have a theory on why we never heard Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses. I really think that they've planned so far in advance that they want to save it for their 30th anniversary tour for Achtung Baby. -

u2roolz replied to remphish1's topic in Someone Else's Song
U2 had a lazy setlist this time around, but it didn't really bother me in the moment because I enjoyed the shows so much. I saw them 3 times in 2 different cities and the only deviation I got was All Because Of You and Bono recited a poem, if you count that. Lol! I knew about the static setlist going into these 3 shows, but I decided against selling tickets. There are certain bands that I need to see every show they come around. Wilco would be the other band. Pearl Jam used to be. On the other hand, it had been the third tour in 4 summers for U2, so I probably could have skipped them to -
I recently saw Amoricans (Black Crowes tribute band) in a bar and the lead singer was barefoot. I remember the sound of glass being broken several times and I felt nervous for the guy. But then I thought that his health care provider, GoFund Me, would take care of any mishaps. I've seen the Black Crowes several times, but I've never been close enough to see Chris Robinson's feet. I guess he was always barefoot. Oh, and I was planning on seeing Toad The Wet Sprocket this Sunday, but the show is officially sold out, as of today. The place that they were playing around here is small enough t

I'm fairly certain that Hologram Roy Orbison goes barefoot on his fall tour....

I just got back from Bo Burnham's Eighth Grade which I found to be completely engaging, yet extremely anxiety inducing due to all of the small moments that seem so huge at this age. Elsie Fisher does a great job as the lead and feels natural in the role via her awkwardness in such small moments. I recommend it, but I don't think I can sit through it again. Oh, and Josh Hamilton, who I remember the most from early Noah Baumbach films, really shines here as "the dad".

That's one of my favorite movies of the year. I forgot to mention that in my last post. I wish that I saw it sooner, so I could see it a 2nd time. I recommended it to a friend and he thinks it's the best film of the year. And it also reminded me to check out Robert Downey, Sr.'s Putney Swope.

That's cool & odd that you only got the Pixies. I assumed that they were on tour with Weezer for the whole summer. I'll have to check out their tour schedule to see if they had any similar "solo" shows. I've seen the Pixies twice & feel like I've missed them the last 3 times they've been through Boston. An even stranger tour schedule is The Fixx's Reach The Beach 35th Anniversary Tour. It's a 2 month trek across the U.S. where 6 shows are not considered 35th Anniversary shows! Lol I can't find the logic in that one at all. And it's not festival dates either.

Yes, I agree with what you wrote, although I still haven't seen Calvary. First Reformed should be available to rent digitally later this month, if anyone is curious about this film. I started Castle Rock on the first day of this month with a free trial of Hulu. It's cool to see Orange, MA as most of the fictional town's namesake, but I find something lacking here that I can't place my finger on. Maybe you need to know every Stephen King story to appreciate what I guess are little winks to King fans when they name drop someone or some event. To be fair, it does feel like with the 4 episodes
