Thanks for all of the info! I don’t think I could plan on a NYC trip last minute like that where you find out 3 days before the taping. Mmm! Sophie Turner!
-
RIP Bill Buckner I hope that the Red Sox & fans give him a nice send off on this short 3 day homestand.

Synchronized armpit farts after the 3rd song?

I’m curious how that works. Are you guaranteed to at least see the dress rehearsal from 8-10, if you don’t get the live show? How long were you waiting outside? SNL is definitely a bucket list item for me.

I just got an email from R.E.M. HQ and it looks like we’ll be getting a 25th anniversary edition of Monster. I watched the brilliant Under The Silver Lake last night and it featured 2 songs from Monster. It also looks like Michael Stipe opened for Patti Smith in NYC. He performed new material. I’m guessing a solo record is inevitable.

Outtasite (Outta Mind) at Unos in Nashua, NH. 2 songs out and about in one day!

Jeff Tweedy’s I Know What It’s Like at T-Bones restaurant in Hudson, NH.

It looks like you make your own flight reservations. I was checking out things quickly on my iPhone & thought that flights were included. Things are easier to understand on the full website. For instance, shows are taking place from January 18th-21st.

What happens in the event of a potential blizzard? Can you make your own flight to the event a day earlier than the package deal? The lodging doesn't bother me, but including flights makes me feel like you'd lose some freedom in getting there. Also a bit odd that the event begins on a Saturday.

Agganis is like a Mine Me of the Boston Garden. There's no balcony section. Just loge. I've enjoyed every concert that I've seen there: Muse, Interpol, The White Stripes, The Cure etc. Not a bad seat really. I'll be at the show in Portland. And I'm headed to Bull Moose later tonight to pick up the record.

The National will be on Colbert tonight. I watched the short film that Mike Mills (no not the REM guy) directed last night. I found it on YouTube. I think going into this record I assumed that it would be an album of mostly ballads. The 6 songs featured in the short film definitely fit the bill, but they all sounded amazing. This one should really split the fans, but I think it'll go down as a landmark album.

My latest prediction is new album on Friday June 7. The 2 Knoxville shows will lead up to that. Entirely possible that they've had something in the can for a long time.

Blink & you'll miss it, but The National just added a Boston date at the Agganis Arena on October 24. Tickets onsale this Friday. Any of my fellow Boston peeps see this today? I only found out by hitting up their website after their 3rd single/video premiered today. Hairpin Turns is the 3rd single, btw.

Yes. It's been a typical shit show from U2.com. They promised a song download per month. They released 2 at the end of January and no one heard anything from them until just this past weekend for 2 more songs. The physical double disc is due sometime this spring. It seems like it's going to be live tracks of songs from the last 2 albums. They put out a great release in 2012: U22 - a 22 song collection of live songs from the 360 tour in 2009-2011. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/U22_(album) Then The Edge picked some extra songs for another live fan club exclusive release the following yea

It looks like U2 is going to do a stadium tour later this year (Nov/Dec) in Australia, New Zealand & Asia. An announcement is expected in early May. Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds are rumored to open all of the dates. It's unknown if U2 plans to bring their Joshua Tree Anniversary tour to this part of the world or if it'll be a completely new show. Reported by U2Songs website.

Twice? I know they were there in December 2017. I was at that show. I was just giving an update that they now have a new gig penciled in on the same date as the cancelled ONCE show. I don't think that they rescheduled that date and canceled it. As far as I know, Steve Wynn said that they want to come back this fall. There are plenty of Boston venues with similar capacities for them to book. It's entirely possible that I missed a new date.

^ It looks like The Dream Syndicate are opening up for The Hold Steady on May 18 at Space Ballroom in Hamden, CT. Their now cancelled ONCE Ballroom show in Somerville, MA was scheduled on the same date. It looks like they ditched the Somerville show to open for The Hold Steady. A bit strange considering the cancelled show was a headlining gig.

Yeah, I've found about 4 songs from that show and Not In Kansas name drops not only R.E.M., but also Begin The Begin. All 4 were ballads, but really nice.
-
Should be an interesting experience based off of you not seeing them for so long & them playing the majority of their forthcoming album. I think they played only like 4 older songs on the 1st 2 shows on this lil tour.

The National did a show today in Paris that's being billed as "A Special Evening With..." It looks like they did 13 new songs. https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/the-national/2019/lolympia-bruno-coquatrix-paris-france-b93113e.html This mini-tour hits 4 more cities.

That was too short of a stint. I think the Boston show was the last or 2nd to last gig on Mott The Hoople's tour. I pondered going and even looked into Uber, but I passed on it assuming that their show in May was still on at ONCE Ballroom. The day after I checked and it disappeared on their website & the venue website. I found an old venue post from mid March that said "due to unforeseen circumstances" this show has been cancelled. I wonder if it was because they were doing the Mott shows a month before their next potential Boston show. If that's the case, it might be a foolish idea since

https://www.bullmoose.com/p/29219026/jeff-tweedy-warmer-rsd-exclusive-2019-ltd-to-5000 RSD releases will be on sale online starting this Monday @ 7am. Right now Sanford, Maine is the only Bull Moose location that has Warmer. I've seen past RSD titles in their stores. The Bull Moose that I go to all the time still has one copy of Live At The Troubador. I'd check the website on Monday to see if it shows up. It's possible that they put out so many and have maybe 1 left out back for a possible online sale. Good luck!

It sucks reading about all of these lousy stories. I had an extremely pleasant experience except for waking up earlier than normal for me. In fact, I just woke up from a nap. I'm not a nap person, but I woke up at 5:50 to use the bathroom and I decided to suck it up and stay up. Watched both late night NHL playoff games on the DVR. A sudden panic hit me as I pulled into Bull Moose Records in Salem, NH. The line wrapped through the parking lot where people were leaning on cars in the rain. The lines get worse each year. However, the staff at Bull Moose had a surprise plan that they implement

Someone was telling me that they were going to see Mott The Hoople tonight in Boston. I checked out the FB Event page and I was shocked to see The Dream Syndicate opening the show. I think this was a recent change. Either another band was supposed to open or they just made the announcement last week.

I read somewhere amidst all of this madness that Warmer will be available to purchase at Solid Sound. I'm not sure where that originated from. Maybe someone asked the person selling merch at the solo Tweedy shows...
