I went to see First Man yesterday afternoon. I thought that the first half seemed detached, dull and overlong. And the overuse of shaky cam pissed me off. Ryan Gosling pretty much played the reticent version of himself which didn't work for me. It worked much better for Drive. He was surrounded by a cast of terrific character actors. The second half worked much better, since it focused on the training & mission. The moon landing segment was executed very well and is actually worth seeing on the big screen.

The Dream Syndicate's Facebook page had a post earlier today saying that the next album is coming this April. The post featured Steve Wynn posing with producer John Agnello. The Dream Syndicate starts a co-headlining tour with Matthew Sweet this week out on the West Coast.

U2 is releasing Zooropa on blue vinyl & The Joshua Tree on gold vinyl on Friday November 23. On that same day, they are releasing a Record Store Day exclusive: Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me as sung by Gavin Friday & Arcade Fire's Regine Chassagne. It's the version being used as an intermission on the current tour. The b-side will be a new remastered version of the original song. I have also heard that U2 is going to release The Joshua Tree 30th Anniversary Tour DVD between Thanksgiving & Christmas. It was filmed last October in Mexico City over 2 shows. U2 also filmed t

I've been to that venue before and they have a mirror in the bathroom.

I might get to it this month after I finish Season 2 of Iron Fist. I'm trying to go light on NetFlix this month with the MLB Playoffs going on. I saw A Star Is Born on the holiday and loved it. I went to a DLX theater with an IMAX sized screen and incredible sound & the concert scenes were really exciting. Bradley Cooper has a really good voice & Lady Gaga can really act. The music was fantastic too. I can see this being this generation's Titanic. I don't think much of the target audience is familiar with any of the prior versions. A very emotionally satisfying film.

So I decided to skip out on Elton John this past Saturday in Boston because the Red Sox/Yankees game was on, but I have 2 more chances. I'm kind of stunned that he added a 3rd show in Boston for November 2019. There were plenty of seats on TM (resale of course) & StubHub for this past Saturday and next month's show. I'm a bit content. I was looking at the setlist for the last show that I saw in 2013 and he did Holiday Inn, Grey Seal, All The Girls Love Alice, and Your Sister Can't Twist But She Can Rock N Roll amongst his hits. His current setlist hasn't changed at all for multiple sh

I looked at your list and the one on U2Start and it's the same content: 4 discs. I could have sworn at one point there were 5 discs.

I'm looking forward to hearing this. I'd also love to hear Jeff Tweedy on Comedy Bang! Bang! with Scott Aukerman. I think that would be a lot of fun.

This YouTube link is a playlist of like 50 different videos. http://youtu.be/NmcIweh-KjQ The audio is much better on this guy's playlist.

Yeah, I tried to copy & paste a similar lengthy list with my cell phone & it didn't take it, but that's all of 'em.

Phil Joanou has 9 out takes on his own website. http://philjoanoudirector.com/u2-archives.html Yeah, several years ago I bought a few VHS tapes of R & H Outtakes & when I got home there was no audio at all. When I was watching them at the record show, there was audio. Not sure what kind of sorcery the dude pulled on me. If you're good with downloading video files & burning them to disc, then I'd recommend hitting either U2Start or U2Torrents for all of the Outtakes. They're still out there on YouTube & I watch them though my Apple TV. I think they're going to mis

2nd Brooklyn show added for Sun Nov 11.

It would be more fun if it was Jay Farrar.

One of the moderators announced that he just found out that he would be moderating the St. Louis event: Mike Schrand of St. Louis Public Radio. It was in the comments of yesterday's Wilco FB announcement. I can't find that comment thread today. Edit: I just found the comment over on the Wilco FB group.

Yes, the Tampa Bay pitching shut them down the last weekend of August. And in September they lost their series to the Indians, Astros & Yankees twice which gives me the sentiment that I have for a quick playoff run. The pitching from these teams shut them down. One last thing regarding the Yankees-A's: I wonder if starting Severino will give someone like switch hitter Jed Lowrie a HR by hitting left & the right field of Yankee Stadium in play.
-
Not in the same ballpark, but similar in the moderation sense: I went to a John Cusack Q & A this past June and they had the Boston Globe movie critic moderate it. That wasn't announced until a few days before the actual event. A little bit of silver lining that might not happen for Jeff Tweedy: Photo Op Upgrades were made available at the John Cusack Q & A. This wasn't mentioned at all on TM & was a surprise.

The Cubs should use this choke job to come back stronger than ever next year. Basically, both teams that you faced on Monday & Tuesday punched their card to get into the postseason on your home turf. Cubs hitting just wasn't there. 3 hits on Monday & 6 last night. I'll make this quick, but last night I went over to a friend's place to hang out & they don't have ESPN, so I DVRed the Wild Card game. I didn't listen to the radio on the way home & didn't get home till 1:05 when I turned on my TV and I heard the audio of the announcer saying that the Rockies had won. lol. I still

That would suck to be closer to the stage than you & not get VIP. Lol. I'll look again on TM. All remaining seats say "Special Offers" and not one says anything about VIP. I took "Special Offers" to mean VIP because what else is there? It looks like you're sitting in the section with the tables and your Row 11 in Section B is the same as my Sec C Row 3. I can make a straight line from my seat to yours.
-
Where are your VIP tickets? I'm in Sec C Row 3 Seat 2. I'm in the corner near the front. Were they $72? I selected VIP on the 1st TM screen and then it showed me a long list of tickets available with special code Boston.
-
You're welcome! Let us know what you get! It looks like every seat is associated with the post show Meet & Greet.
-
Presale code is Boston.
-
I just got 3rd row in Boston for $58. Wilbur Theater says that ticket prices go up to $72. I didn't see any $72 seats listed, however the whole middle section was sold out (or unavailable to choose from) with what looks like tables. Small venue that I've only been in once to see Craig Ferguson that was a taping for a DVD comedy special. There is going to be a Meet & Greet post show with the opportunity to personalize books. No photos or memorabilia.
-
^ I'm curious about Boston too. Nothing much on the Wilbur site.
-
Yes! VC won't let me post the pic of book tour dates, but I'm psyched to see Boston. I don't see anything on the Wilbur site for any performance though. Just Q & A.
