A couple of my friends drove from MA to Port Chester, NY for the show last week. They said it was excellent. "As long as you have Chris Robinson singing, you can put any musicians behind him" was what they said about the show. I looked at the setlist and it was primarily all Black Crowes tunes. Yes, that's always been one of my favorites. It was rehearsed in Hershey, PA right before the start of the Outside Broadcast tour (Zoo TV) in 1992. It has never seen the light of day on stage. I hope that it's played on this tour.

Yes. True. I live around the Boston footprint, so I already get NESN to watch the Red Sox. I can't watch those games on MLB Extra Innings or MLB.tv. They get blacked out. I get out of work at 10pm EST on 4 out of the 5 week nights, so I like to come home and catch a West Coast game.

So I'm paying $163 for the MLB Extra Innings HD package which surprisingly includes access to MLB.tv which I can get on my Apple TV. It includes every game in HD on Comcast & access to every broadcast, so I can flip between Rockies & Pirates broadcasts of the same game. MLB.tv is similar except you can also get the radio broadcast from either team. I haven't tried that yet, but I've enjoyed watching games both ways. Funny you should say that. I'm hearing rumors that U2 might not play anything off of The Joshua Tree on this tour, since they played the whole album last year on the stadium tour. I think something like that would happen for the first couple of shows and then they'd feel the need to add a few songs from it. A lot of what I've been hearing has been pointing to a very heavy 90s U2 on this tour. The songs that were worked on last night include The Fly, Until The End Of The World, Lights Of Home and (spoiler text) Acrobat.

A few interesting tidbits regarding U2's next tour which kicks off next month in Oklahoma City: U2 posted a rehearsal video of Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses to their social media page. Extremely cool to see this one possibly dusted off for the tour. Then Rolling Stone had a quote from Willie Williams (creative director of tour) that mentioned that this tour should feature some rarities that U2 will play live for the first time. I just finished the first episode of Altered Carbon which I thought was excellent. The concepts, production design and the story drew me in right away. I had read the synopsis of the book awhile ago, but to see it and experience it as a tv show was exciting. If you like sci-fi and film noir, go ahead and check it out.

Steven Soderbergh's Mosaic - This was an awesome limited series on HBO that originally started out as an App where you control the narrative. I enjoyed the story & characters so much that I want to download the App for a different experience. There were hardly any promos for this show which actually ran Monday through Friday of last week. The App came out sometime in the fall.

I zipped right through Wormwood which I found completely fascinating & engrossing. I had fun with the recent Jumanji. I wonder if the Jack Black character will cause some controversy in some circles. I thought that The Greatest Showman was ok. It had way too much music and not enough plot/dialog. I think if it had a competing vision by someone like Tim Burton without the music I would have found that version more interesting. The "freaks" are just there without any backstory at all.

Regarding Ren/Rey: it depends on if you believe that Kylo Ren is telling the truth to Rey about her parents. We might find out in the next episode. If he IS telling a lie, then he is doing the opposite of Darth Vader telling Luke the truth about his real parents. The timing of Kylo Ren killing Snoke is interesting because it shows that he can potentially be given a lot more power than Vader ever had, since Vader didn't end up killing Emperor Palpatine until he started to attack Luke in Jedi at the very end of the movie. I loved Star Wars. I saw it last night in a hot & packed theater. I thought that Three Billboards was the angriest film of the year and one of the best. I'd definitely see it again over the next few weeks. Last Flag Flying was a pure pleasure to watch. Linklater wrote a great script here & Bryan Cranston was the standout character. I didn't care for the SNL performance either. It seemed strange to do American Soul with the Kendrick Lamar intro & then do Get Out Of Your Own Way with Bono doing the Lamar part on the bullhorn during the outro. Maybe if they had flipped them? The bullhorn worked during Bullet The Blue Sky on the Innocence & Experience Tour. I hope that it doesn't get used in a lot of songs on the next tour. I'm still loving the album. I have high hopes for the Netflix series Altered Carbon. I've never read the book, but the Wiki synopsis sounds amazing. I'll try to track it down and read it soon. I knew that they were producing the show, but I'm stunned that it's coming already on Feb 2nd next year.
