  1. Watching this past Friday's Real Time With Bill Maher & in his New Rules segment he made a joke about drummers throwing out drumsticks into the audience and taking out an eye. I was surprised to see him use a pic of Glenn Kotche.
  2. Driving from the hotel to the parking I caught most of Nels Cline's interview last night on NPR's Fresh Air. http://www.npr.org/2017/06/23/533977877/guitarist-nels-cline-on-lovers-an-album-25-years-in-the-making I also saw John Stirratt & his wife leave the Hunter Center's last comedy set. I gave him a brief "last night was awesome! Thanks so much!". He was very appreciative. 2nd time I've seen him around the fest.
  3. Oops! Yes, you're absolutely right. I should have double checked my list while at Village Pizza up the street. Nice place at 51 Eagle St, if you want to avoid the foot traffic. Open till 3am. How did everyone do with the muggy night? I downed 4 waters. I finally found a cool spot near the "new" restrooms at Courtyard D. Much better than the humid "dungeon" below the cafe. Nice breeze coming off of the river. I could still see the stage.
  4. So Wilco played Being There as the main set & did an encore with Yankee Hotel Foxtrot! Best Solid Sound set yet, in my opinion. I don't think anyone expected this going into tonight.....which is only night 1! 5. Awesome news! This is turning into a sure thing for night one. They broadcast the whole set from 2 years ago.....actually, I think they bleeped out "holy shit" from Company In My Back. Lol! I just realized that this is for night 2!
  6. The Dream Syndicate's new single, How Did I Find Myself Here?, is available on Spotify & iTunes. It clocks in at just a bit over 11 minutes.
  7. Kristofor I'll be making my 4th Solid Sound. I was also at the 2012 benefit show. I need to skip out on Sunday's performances to travel across the state to make it for U2 @ Gillette Stadium on Sunday evening. I'm counting my blessings that I have Monday & Tuesday off to recover. I'm looking forward to the Route 2 drive and running into some familiar faces. I will also be at the Thompson's Point show in Maine next month.
  8. I'm reading that Jeff Tweedy will be doing 2 nights in a row on NBC's Late Night with Seth Meyers' show on Monday June 19 & Tuesday June 20.
  9. It is believed that Winston Legthigh is referring to my gripe that U2 cut A Sort Of Homecoming. I mentioned that I read that they cut it due to getting to the Joshua Tree album quicker in the set.
  10. No. Not at all. That info came from Willie Williams who has done the sound for U2 shows as far as I can remember. It sounded like a lame excuse.
  11. Well, he has been singing New Year's Day in a lower key & the whole band is too. It has a cool moody vibe to it now. My thought was that they dropped it due to having too many album cuts on this tour. I read that they cut it due to trying to get to The Joshua Tree right out of the gate. I almost forgot to mention that I was extremely pleased with U2 for once & their double dipping. I could have sworn that the 2017 "remaster" double disc of The Joshua Tree would have b-sides, "unreleased" tracks & remixes and that you needed to buy the expensive box set to get the Madison Square
  12. I saw a rumor on a U2 fan site over the weekend that said that they were going to come back with dates in September. That turned out to be true. They'll be taking the Joshua Tree tour to Detroit, Buffalo, Indy, Minnie, KC, St. Louis & San Diego. (Edit: the rumor actually had them playing New Orleans & Atlanta. Maybe that will be announced later on.) They also are hitting Mexico City & South America. I can't see a continuation of the Innocence & Experience tour any time soon with all of these dates. Although, word is that they want the new album out this year. We'll see. I

Steve Wynn says that the album title is still under wraps. The album will be released on September 8th (same day as The National's new one). Interesting interview. I wonder what marketing plans they have planned.
  14. http://www.anti.com/news/the-dream-syndicate-curated-playlist/ Members of Wilco, R.E.M., The Black Crowes, Dinosaur Jr. & Yo La Tengo pick out their favorite tracks for a playlist.

  16. U2 started rehearsals a few nights ago in Vancouver and there are quite a few somewhat decent clips. A Sort Of Homecoming, Ultraviolet, & Miss Sarajevo have been rehearsed for "rare" tracks along w Joshua Tree songs & early staples. A new song titled The Little Things That Give You Away has been rehearsed as the set closer. https://www.atu2.com/news/spoilers-day-2-u2s-joshua-tree-2017-tour-rehearsals-in-vancouver-1.html
  17. I voted for Being There naturally.
  18. He still didn't choke as bad as the Falcons...
  19. I really enjoyed Woody Harrelson in Wilson. It would make for a great double feature with Greenberg with Ben Stiller. I remember really loving Ghost World which is another Daniel Clowes' comic. Trainspotting 2 was just an exhilarating experience. I'll admit that Danny Boyle is really hit or miss for me, but he really nailed the themes that made this sequel so damned good. I won't spoil the plot, but if the first film made some impact on you then definitely check it out. Truly surreal to see everyone back 20 years later. I also loved Terrence Malick's Song To Song which I felt was the best
  20. I figured that I'd update this and say that my tickets arrived earlier than the new record which doesn't make any sense. My tickets arrived on Friday March 17th which was the release date for the record. I got the record in the mail on Tuesday March 21. I enjoyed the new record and I was surprised at how short it was. I have no recollection of their last album's name. I remember enjoying it at the time & never playing it again after I saw them in 2013.
  21. Random Name Generator at TGI Friday's right now.
  22. https://www.atu2.com/news/u2-will-issue-red-hill-mining-town-picture-vinyl-for-record-store-day.html U2 is putting out a vinyl picture disc for the new mix of Red Hill Mining Town on Record Store Day. As far as the U2 concert releases, I feel that they've had better shows than what's been released. One big problem probably is that a lot of those concerts that were released were at the end of a very long tour except for Elevation & Vertigo tour. The Zoo TV concert special & other unofficial pro-shot shows are much better than Zoo TV Sydney. Take a look on YouTube. At least Sydney h
  23. Depeche Mode did something for a presale that I hadn't seen before: sign up early & get a place in "line" and increase your spot in "line" when you preorder their new record. I jumped from 3,045 to 305 after I made that purchase and was given a specific presale time of Monday 12:30pm. I spent $99 for a seat at Mohegan Sun. I won't get into DM skipping Boston on almost every tour in the last dozen years....
