  1. That's really cool! Let us know if you are chosen! Those are such amazingly good apples! Good luck! I've got a whole mess of little Bacon Avocados growing this year...this little tree's first crop. And yes, "Bacon" is actually the name of the variety, but it always makes me crave a BLT with avocado.
  2. But I'll bet your driveway looks spectacular!
  3. This new line might make a sweet tattoo: "Wouldn't you rather live on an ocean of guitars?"
  4. With so much love for all of you mothers out there, and everyone who has filled that role for a stepchild, or a neighbor kid, or a relative, or anyone who needed a mother. Every long, hard mothering moment you spent was loved, even if not at the time. We love you, beyond words. Keep making the world a sweeter, saner, more sensible place. You remind us of what matters.
  5. Now I'm not really a tattoo person myself, though I can admire them on other people...just not my particular thing. But I was thinking the other day about tattoos that are expressions or phrases, and I was wondering what bit of Jeff's lyrics I would choose if I were to have a Wilco-inspired tattoo done. So many spring to mind...that boy can really turn a phrase! I haven't decided on my imaginary tattoo yet, though I'm leaning toward "Exactly what do you want me to be?" So my question to you all out there in WilcoLand is this: If you got a tattoo of a phrase from Wilco's lyrics, what phra
  6. I think we need a topic called "Songs You Can't Figure Out Why You Don't Like". Then I would say, "Hell is Chrome". I don't know why. It has wonderful elements but just leaves me unmoved. Please don't all attack at once.
  7. Kraut-rock (album) version, or acoustic version? Or both?
  8. This president is completely braindead and crooked, and is willing to sacrifice the entire planet to protect his narcissistic ego. He will soon have our economy collapsed and wars begun. We need to fight him tooth and nail. I've thought this too.
  9. This is on my short list. I saw them recently, they were great! I'd gone to see Waxahatchee, who opened. (And were amazing) Has anyone here read The Little Stranger? I'm about halfway through and I can hardly put it down. I don't know about the "sleepless nights", but it's a mesmerizing, well-told tale. I'm dying to see how it turns out.
  10. I struggle with this too. Sometimes it can't be done...the artist is infused in their work. Those times I can appreciate the art but I often find I can't get an emotional connection to it. I used to love Woody Allen's early movies...Bananas, Sleeper....and while they are still the same movies, they are different to me now that we know his personality more.
  11. That's as good a rationale as any!
  12. That's a damned fine choice! I would have to say Spiders, but only if we cheat and include both the rock and the acoustic versions.
  13. Well I look good in a bulky jacket. Oh sure, I could get down there, but I probably couldn't get back up without help. This guitar is in its last auction hours. Bid now or forever hold your peace! The link: https://www.ebay.com/itm/RARE-Uncle-Tupelo-Autographed-Oscar-Schmidt-OE40N-Hollow-Body-Electric-Guitar-/253580425417
  14. I need to make more popcorn. We're getting to the good part.
  15. This guitar is even more beautiful in real life. I tried to make a break for it...but those damned velvet ropes had me cornered!
  16. Two days of Chicago energy and line-up friends and thoughtful little unexpected presents and stories that made me laugh until I was crying...and all of that was before we were ever let into the Vic! AND then those sets of Jeff's! The first 30 in line may have chosen the songs, but it took Jeff's talent to turn it into the beautiful waking dream it was. We are such lucky, lucky fans. Thank you, Jeff and Sue, for all the ways you take care of us fans. You are terrific leaders of this crazy tribe! What a great weekend.
  17. You motivated me to investigate further! From Susan Tweedy:Hi Donna! All of the proceeds go to Streetwise Chicago! Jeff did a shirt for them this year. It's such a great organization! http://www.giveashirt.net xo Me again: They have the hat, tons of shirts, coffee mugs, even dog bandanas!
  18. Showed up as the words for each emoticon, right? haha! banana-bounce8-guitar-beer-cheers-wub-dance-hyper-party! It will be all that and more!
  19. I don't know; I'll ask Chris, who lunched with him when he got the guitar signed. I know Mike is still in Belleville. Bidding is nearing $2000. Niiiice.
  20. This sucks. Better luck, soon. I'm sorry you're going through this. It's painful to watch.
  21. I love Trip Shakespeare! I'll have to look into Twilight Hours.
