  1. These both sound like conversations at my house. The calmer it seems, the more jittery I get. Don't trust any of these lunatics.
  2. You're more generous than I am. I'm giving him until Saturday.
  3. This lineup is simply amazing and I couldn't be happier! Any of you unfamiliar with Kevin Morby may want to spend some time now getting familiar. You are in for a real treat. Try "Singing Saw"! Mesmerizing music.
  4. Exactly my thinking! I don't know how he could have made himself more repulsive over the years.
  5. I'm sure it won't be long now. Then we can start geeking out over the choices!
  6. Uh oh. I'd guess it's the beginning. But I think (as usual) he has really miscalculated. This will be such a hornets nest!
  7. This is exactly what my husband and I do every day now. It feels like fiction.
  8. I feel like all my language skills have lately been reduced to an outraged, sputtering, WHAT. THE. FUCK. A third grader could have written a more meaningful speech. He turns every single thing into an opportunity to praise himself. My hatred knows no bounds.
  9. Good advice. The video helps.
  10. Yours may be too young for this discussion. That's not a good kid, that's a GREAT kid! How horrifying this must be for your Jewish friends. I don't think having an exit plan is an overreaction in the least! I've gotten my own passport updated just in case. By 4th grade kids are really waking up to the larger world, though they will still usually parrot their parents' views, mixed in with a lot of questions about how it all works. Of course you have to be careful while on the job. How old are your older boys? I wonder if they will have more to say as this stretches on.
  11. Thanks Mt. Bed. That was beautiful and that's excellent advice. Steady as we go.
  12. Thanks. We Americans are watching with horror too.
  13. Amid the nationwide protests at airports and elsewhere across the country (and world), a personal note: Jeff and Sue Tweedy spent part of the past couple of days joining in the protests at O'Hare. Yesterday they were verbally attacked by a small group of haters who suggested they would be happy to kill them. It was completely unprovoked; Jeff and Sue were simply passing by this group. At their comments, Jeff protested that "You don't even know me!" but this made no difference to the group. Thankfully Jeff had the good sense to involve the police, and passengers in the area confirmed that the v
  14. This comes up from a conversation elsewhere...I find myself wondering what you all are hearing from your children? I know we have many parents here. What kind of reaction are your kids having to the news of the day? Their thinking, after all, predicts our future to some extent. What kind of conversations are you having about things like the airport protests, the women's march, etc? Genuinely curious.
  15. Sounds like incredible nights. This place needs a Like button.
  16. Sad to see Ben go, but I wish him bright new horizons! I guess his replacement will have some pretty big shoes to fill.
  17. Not much strikes me funny right now, but this made me chortle!
  18. I was impressed in L.A. with how caring and careful everyone was towards children, strollers, and wheelchairs. Everyone made extra space and made sure all felt comfortable and uncrowded....despite the massive crowd! We took care of each other. Which is a lot more than can be said of our government right now.
  19. It couldn't be more awesome! GO Jeff & Sue!
  20. Home. So exhausted but so encouraged and inspired! ABC News is saying that instead of the projected 70,000 people, we had instead a crowd of something like 750,000. Somebody needs to work on their estimating skills! Despite the MASSIVE crowd, I saw absolutely NO instances of violence, anger, or even peevishness! It was an energized, motivated, and festive atmosphere and damned if everyone wasn't terrifically kind to each other! People carefully parted when the fire engines needed to crawl through slowly, and many cheered for the firefighters and thanked them for their service. The fire engi
  21. What a great experience for the young ones...democracy in action, and they get to see their parents as involved citizens! Hey everyone, march safe and strong and passionate, and remember to "go high". Like one of my march signs says, "We'll go high but we won't go away". I think we have to be in this for the long haul. Have a good day tomorrow. Take care of each other.
  22. As a native of the OC (Fullerton), I salute you!
  23. I'm going to the L.A. March. 70,000 expected. Yikes. But I'm excited to be going.
