i haven't been around these parts as long as many of the folks but I am a "carry over" fan from the uncle tupelo days (i.e. old). it seems like every record jeff has ever put out has been polarizing to the fan base. it took me forever to get into wilco, and i mean years. a.m. was such a rushed, sophmoric effort when it was released (especially when compared to trace). however, it provided a great bassline for me to look back upon when masterpieces like being there, summerteeth and yhf started sinkin' in. to watch tweedy develop as a front man and songwriter has been simply amazing. s

I've spun the record at least 15 times and I still am going to run out on the 15th to buy it. I get to be excited twice!

While Ghost is far from my favorite album, it certainly doesn't suck...at all.

Tips: Wear really, really comfortable shoes. Bring ear plugs. Plan your day ahead of time. Have a back up show ready. Experiment, don't just see shows of bands you're familar... most bands play several showcases and not just the "official" sxsw one. meet people, share info, and you'll get to see the band you're after... I've always done the badge but it seems getting into shows isn't a problem. I went about 90 mins early for arctic monkeys and flaming lips and walked right in... Alligator was my favorite record of 2005. Saw them with Clap Your Hands and they literally stole the show. Great band.

I agree with Halcyon. The album's decent but seems to fail after repeated listens. I really think there's no contest between it and Neko's latest. e
