So I finally bought my first iPod - I got the 80gb classic. I realize now that I missed the boat on getting manuals and guides that explain how to use this thing because all it came with was a "quick start manual" that was no help at all. I guess they figure everyone on Earth already has had about 2-3 iPods and they don't need to include these things any longer. So I figured out itunes and I actually have some music on the thing, but now I have quesitons about hearing said music. Here are my initial quesitons: 1. What do I need to buy to hook this thing into my car so I can listen while

Don't know what Marc is up to, but he was standing in the doorway of the Pantages when I arrived last Tuesday in Minneapolis. Gary mentioned his name during the show too - but he never went on stage to play with them. I was kind of hoping he would go up for a few...

I believe the Us3 song was "Cantaloop" Has anyone mentioned The Knack? How about Was Not Was - "Walk the Dinosaur?"

I always thought Panda Bears were in the racoon family, but I did some research and found out that they recently determined they are actually in the bear family. I learn something new everyday...and now i can stop learning today

Saw Gary last night at the Pantages in Minneapolis. Sounded pretty good - they played a very similar setlist as in Denver, but mixed up the order a bit. My personal highlight was Settled Down Like Rain. I also really enjoyed Sound of Lies. Go see him if you get the chance - Vetiver was great too, so get there early. On a side note to anyone who has seen Vetiver, what is up with the lead singers mouth? Very distracting.

This makes no sense.

You can save hundreds of dollars by buying a map. Why do people need these GPS units? They are a BIG waste of money. Learn to read a map - you will find out all the cool shit that is just off you route and get to visit many more state parks, national monuments and historical sites if you would just plan out your route with a good old map.

Maybe Obama thinks for himself. Why must he agree with everything his spiritual advisor says? He is not some soldier in God's Army blindly doing what he is told. He is a free thinking man who has common sense and can think for himself. I find flaw that you think someone should not disagree with an authority figure. How many catholics on this board used condoms or tell their kids to use condoms? Ask your priest what his position is on birth control and then get back to me. People dissagree with their pastors, priests, spiritual advisors, etc. all the time.

Apparently just the west coast - although there has been a venue change in Minneapolis: For those keeping score: From 2150 to 1000 seats. Kind of sad - i wonder where my seat will end up? I had a seat in the loge on the side - now I wonder how far i will be back in the balcony... You can listen to the entire album on his myspace page right now!

So how was the weekend? Where did you guys end up going?

Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward = She & Him

Hear the entire Current set here She & Him from SXSW -
Angelic Brewing Company has always treated me well - good food, good brew, and pretty casual - Linky After dinner I would just hit State Street and do what come naturally. If you want a stiff drink hit "Mondays," if you want a place where the cool kids go hit the bar with the tree inside Paul's Club and if you want a pure dive bar with $1 PBR, hit "Paradise Lounge" near the capital Dive Bar Extrordinaire. Sadly I heard Bennett's closed Smut & Eggs so I have no ideas for breakfast...

The first song at your wedding?
Serak_the_Preparer replied to PopTodd's topic in Someone Else's Song
We went with "Dreaming My Dreams" by the Cranberries. Our second choice was "You Get Me Lost" by Freedy Johnston. It is one of the most beautiful songs out there in my opinion. Hear it here: http://www.freedyjohnston.com/buy.html - it is track #6 on Never Home. -
What's the oldest thing in your house?

I have a 1898 edition of Darwin's "Origin of Species." -
If you like her studio albums, you should really see her live. She is much more passionate live and really projects her wonderful voice. She covers Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" and it may be the best version yet. I first saw her in her first concert after being signed. She blew my wife and I away. We had never heard any songs, but it didn't matter. We bought her CD and were fans from the beginning. Her twin brother backing band do a phenominal job with harmonies. The second time we saw her she was solo opening for Ray Lamontagne. Overall that show was unreal - both Brandi and Ray have

Today's AWD only come on when needed. The car feels the tires slipping and activates the AWD. For 99% of the time the car is riding in front wheel drive mode. People in MN need AWD - and it is nice that it automatically come on when needed. That way we don't have to wonder if it is icey or not - we get the AWD only when it is needed. I had an old Dodge pickup growing up in northern WI and I always realized I needed the 4WD a tad too late - like when I was in the ditch! Of course back then I had to lock in my 4WD and then back up 50 feet (hard to do when your in a ditch).

I am actually kind of suprised that more people here don't have Toyotas and Hondas. I have a 99 Camry which now has 141K miles on it. I bought it used and I did have to replace the clutch at 75K, but I think the previous owner didn't know how to drive a stick. My wife has a 99 Accord. 121K miles and no major problems. I can say that Hondas hold their resale value better, as my wife's Honda is worth about $2000 more than my Camry and I have it loaded with power everything, leather, and a V-6 engine. That being said, we too are in the market. We have decided on a small SUV since we are

How did you come by your VC Handle?
Serak_the_Preparer replied to bigshoulders's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
Your name has always been my favorite. In fact, I named one of my fantasy football teams Atticus Poongoogler. Just so you know, I got 2nd place in that league - Thanks! -

Picture with a chef's hat on. He is from a Tree House of Horror episode that spoofs the Twilight Zone's "To Serve Man" episode. I was a huge Simpsons fan, but i haven't seen them in about 5 years now. I should really change my name. -
Tapes 'n Tapes - Walk It Off
Serak_the_Preparer replied to Modified Bear's topic in Someone Else's Song
I didn't like "Hang Them All" either on the first couple of listens, but now I am really digging it. It is catchy and upon additional listens is the song that sounds the most like their last album. Maybe that is why they chose that one first - to ease the fans into the new album. The chorus is the only part I am not sold on, but the rest of the song is solid.
