  1. No, I say that because their combined salary is $14.25 Million this season. It sucks that they aren't worth the money...
  2. Oops - yeah, I didn't read your complete statement! And I totally agree that Youkilis is a beast. As for rookie middle infielders, I'll take Tulowinski over Pedroia any day. And for my next controversial statement, I believe Ryan Braun deserves the NL ROY.
  3. How did Papelbon help them win last night? He didn't even pitch. Gagne did. I will admit that Youkilis killed last night. Pedroia had a dong and that was it. It was a solo dong and while it did set the tone for the game, it did not win the game. Ortiz and Ramirez went a combined 6-9 with 4 RBI and 5 runs scored. There was your nail. And I never said that the highest salary team wins. Just that when they lose they should wonder where the money went. I know small market teams can win, and I LOVE when they do.
  4. Pretty much what I would expect from a Red Sox fan. Big market fans always like to say salary is insignificant, but money talks. Beckett made a tad shy of $7Mil this season while Francis made $750K. Very rarely does a team win based on their farm system. Ortiz, Ramirez, Lowell, Lugo, Beckett, Schilling, Gagne - all bought from other teams. Holliday, Helton, Atkins, Hawpe, Francis - all from Colorado's farm system. I am from the midwest - and from a smaller-market farm-based team. I am pulling for the Rockies (although I think the Red Sox will win again).
  5. Rank Team Salary 2 Red Sox $145,151,214 21 Rockies $60,574,000 I'm just saying. If the Red Sox don't win they should get some refunds...
  6. I thought I remembered them playing it too - but then again, I couldn't remember if they actually played it or if i was just imagining it. I have a real problem with memory...I rarely remember things for more than about 3 minutes. On the plus side, my right ear is about back to normal!
  7. I was requesting Letter to an Occupant. I definately would have liked to hear more songs with Neko on lead. Solace - I saw you outside the venue and then inside. I have actually seen you at most of the shows I have been to in the past year. I was going to introduce myself, but I feel stupid going up to someone I have never met and say I am so and so from the Wilco board. Maybe next time.
  8. Went to the show last night - amazing. Dan and Neko were both there! They played 5 Dan songs! Highlights included Mass Romantic, Myriad Harbor, The Slow Descent Into Alcoholism, Electric Version, Jackie, Dressed in Cobras, The Body Says No, and Execution Day. The music was a little loud and I think I have permanant hearing damage to my right ear (constant ringing) - but hopefully that will pass by tomorrow (or at least I will get used to it!). Emma Pollack was really good too. Benjee was just way too loud to hear.
  9. I also thought I read a review of a recent show where they said Dan was extremely drunk, butcame out and sang his tunes. I will try to find that review! Here's crossing my fingers. Edit: He was definately there for both Seattle shows - I read a review on NP forum page (http://www.thenewpornographers.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=845). I realize this is a PAC NW show, but he was also there for th LA show. Here is the youtube of Dan playing . Looks promising!
  10. 1 outta 2 ain't bad!! I am pumped to see this Tuesday night!!1!
  11. It definately was NOT a real CD - it was a burned something. I know that for a fact. It was not Sky Blue Sky that Barney broke. I do agree though that they mentioned Wilco at least a few times in the bar, on the phone, and possibly back at the apartment.
  12. If what you say is true, then a) why didn't they mention the name of the new CD? and why would they play a track off AM? These days TV shows are using music to connect with the fans of the show (watch an episode of Scrubs and listen to all the great tunes), so I don't see why this is such a stretch to say the writers were listening to Wilco and put it in the show. Again, they never mention the name of the CD or the label. On a side note, this is one of my favorite shows on right now and when we saw it last night I mentioned to my wife that it would be great fodder for the Wilco board tomo
  13. I don't see where DMB is considered "Pop Darlings" as one poster put it. I can count the number of "radio hits" they have had on one hand - and htey haven't had one since their second album. I consider myself a fan of DMB, even though I haven't bought an album since "These Crowded Street" and haven't been to a show in several years (2003 maybe?). It seems that people hate the band because of their fans. That seems stupid to me. I bet most of the people who say that have never been to one of their shows. Yes, the crowd can be annoying, but all shows can have annoying fans - it is mainly a
  14. Apparently the download version is only the first 10 songs.
  15. I would love to travel overseas more, but I need to hit more National Parks in the US - they are truely treasures not to miss. As you can tell by my lists, I am a mountain guy and I am not too interested in big cities or beaches. That is not to say i don't enjoy cities and beaches, I just would rather spend my time hiking and taking pictures of landscapes and wildlife. My top 5 national parks so far: 1. Glacier N.P. (Going to the Sun Road is not to be missed) 2. Yosemite N.P. (We hiked to the top of Half Dome!) 3. Mt. Rainier N.P. (Backpacked the Wonderland Trail) 4. Hawaii Volcanos N.P.
  16. I am wearing these right now - and yes, I have a quarter in each pocket!
  17. I lived near the University hospital (my wife went to Pharmacy school there) so I am a fan of the west side. I can vouch for most all of what Yankee said, and i will add a few things to keep you happy in Madison. 18. Thank you, i was just about to mention this - the song is Silver Lining and it is a major George Harrison rip-off.
  19. My favorite local band name has got to be "Gay Witch Abortion."
  20. I peed a bit when i first saw that. I too am looking forward to this movie. I love the kid that played George Michael in Arested Development.
  21. So how is the Simpsons movie? Is it Seasons 3 and 4 funny or just seasons 9 and 10 funny?
