  1. Any other Twins fans out there wondering why the hell we would trade for these guys instead of Phil Hughs or Jacoby Elsburry? I am at a loss for words after this trade. We could have had either a bonifide star centerfielder or a TOP pitching prospect that would most likely be #1 or #2 starter this year. Instead we get a undisiplined hitter of an outfielder, a good pitching prospect who is not ready for the bigs yet and 2 mid-level pitching prospects. Unbelievable.
  2. Aside from the fake dreads, what is wrong with his quote in Rolling Stone or the fact that he wanted to lead with a different song? The quote sounds like a good goal, why would a band want their music to be forgotten in a year? And the SNL story sounds like sound advice - you never lead with your most popular song, or you risk losing half the people who may actually enjoy your other songs but only listen to top 40 radio. I never see bands opening a concert with their main hit - it is always just before the encore or in the encore. Seems to me you are looking for reasons to hate them...
  3. Your baby has quite the potty mouth!! Our first child is on the way, so I am soaking this in and making mental notes on what to try and when to try it.
  4. I like Couting Crows live. I have seen them 4 times and my wife and I dig them every time. Yes, some of their songs go on way too long and he turns some songs into a spoken word marathon, but it is only on a few tunes and i can live with that. What bugs me is that they are afraid to go on a headlining tour. They usually tour with other co-headlining bands I really don't want to see (John Mayer, Collective Soul, Live, etc.).
  5. Of course, Wilco ended up not showing up, but still... That is the only year I went to - they don't have it on the official line-up, but I also saw Beck, Kool Keith, and MF Doom on Saturday. Beck played an impromptu show at a small stage at 2pm and Kool Keith and MF Doom played after Radiohead on a nearby stage. I am pissed I missed The Black Keys...oh well - I plan on catching them at First Ave this spring. Great lineup indeed!!
  6. When I was in grad school, the department had a white elephant party and my buddy didn't have a gift - so on the way over we found a molted cicada body and put it in a box and wrapped it up. A new professor ended up with it at the end of the night and he was totally pissed off because he had brought a nice bottle of wine from Napa Valley. Sucker. My roommate ended up with the wine and we laughed about it for years after.
  7. Thanks - i have been listening to this album for the past 2 days, very catchy and I am really digging it! Thanks for sharing!!
  8. Then offer something more than Melky - he sucks. New York would HAVE to give up Hughs. But i hope we get Lester and Ellsbury - screw the Yankees. If Santana goes for Lester and Crisp I will be pissed as will every other Twins fan. Crisp is an average hitter and outfielder.
  9. Yes and no. Yes because she had the best photos, but no because she can't read a script/act to save her life and she had 6 hours and only went to ONE go see. Come on, I realize she has a condition, but if she can't book jobs she'll never be ANTM. My prediction: Bianca will win.
  10. Now if we can just get Boston to give up Ellsbury and Lester The Twins would be set for next 5 years (or until arbitration). Think of how good the outfield could be with Young in left, Ellsbury in center and Cuddyer in right. All we would need is a shortstop or third baseman. and with the money saved from Santana and Hunter we could actually afford a good one! Come on BoSox!!
  11. The Twins are trading for Delmon Young from the Devil Rays in a six-player deal. Twins are giving up Matt Garza, Jason Bartlett and Juan Rincon. Along with Young, the Twins will get Brendan Harris and Jason Pridie. I am fine with trading away Rincon and Bartlett, but I am not sold on letting Garza go - he has a really good arm and tons of potential. I would have rather seen Scott Baker or Boof Bonser go...oh well, Young is going to be a super star and Harris is better than Bartlett. Strib link
  12. I also saw them during that tour and they blew me away too. I love them as a band and as a backing band. Neko Case's The Tigers Have Spoken is a wonderful album. I have yet to get the new one, but I am looking forward to it.
  13. I didn't see it in the theater, but I turned off the DVD of "Southpark the Movie." I love the show, but the movie was so low brow that I was physically angry. My 5 year old nephew could have thought up the Sadaam getting butt-plowed by Satan skit.

  16. I'm afraid you would win that one - I am a lefthanded middle reliever for the D-Rays. I hate to admit it, but I actually like Papelbon. He seems like a fun guy. I think we should hang out.
  17. Just to wipe the slate clean - I love baseball and don't care all that much about salaries. I think it gives fans something to argue about and be jealous of (I wish the Twins would spend some cash and keep Hunter, Santana, and Nathan). I do want the Rockies to win, but that is mostly because I have no vested interest in either team and i love an underdog, I love their story on how they got the to series, and I love the purity of the NL (no DH to inflate offenses). I am just excited the Series is finally here (I actually prefer the old 4 division system with no wild card) which used to be ov
  18. I know it is not everything, but to discount it is not being honest. It is like having a Dvision 1A team in NCAA football playing a D-1 school. Sure, ND can beat Minnesota and Appilacian St. can beat Michigan, but the majority of the time the school with more money wins. Sorry for the facts. I know you can always find exceptions, but the rule of thumb is money=wins in sports. I bolded the important part of my statement.
  19. I wish - I would love to play for the Crew!!
