Going to Chicago....what to do, see, stay, etc.

Thanks. I found a good deal on a hotel in the area, but it's about four blocks or so the red line, so I just wanted to check. -

Is Chicago Avenue (between State Street and Michigan Avenue) OK for walking alone at night? -

How do you buy music? (isues, quality, quantity)

I mostly stick with CDs just because I like to have the physical product. With all of the streaming going on on various sites, I can be pretty sure that I'm not wasting my money buying something I'm going to listen to only once. Plus, amazon.com has some great deals if you pre-order or buy CDs pretty close to the release date (I just bought New Pornographers, The Hold Steady, Free Energy and The National for about $32). But I've been laid off twice over the last year and taken huge pay cuts at my new jobs, so I join eMusic whenever they have an irresistible deal. I realize there's tons of gr -
I'm on the verge of becoming obsessed with this CD.

So, so happy for Braden. I had the bad fortune of being at work during the game, but I was listening on my iPhone. Let's just say that my level of productivity over the last few innings was inversely proportional to Braden's awesomeness.

Those last few minutes of work before your weekend starts.

This is what bothered me most about the whole situation. I'm not saying Braden didn't overreact, but just because a guy has "a handful of wins," he shouldn't say anything if he thinks he has been disrespected just because the other guy is a superstar? (And in case A-Rod didn't notice, one of those wins had just come against his team. ) Also, while it's obviously not as well-known as not lollygagging around the bases after hitting a home run, I wouldn't say nobody has heard of this rule. From all the stuff I read, it seemed a fair number of people had heard of it.

I always thought Kevin Kennedy looked like a law man from the Old West. This only reinforces that thought.

Mine is approaching two minutes (yes, I'm a dork and actually timed it once). Obviously in the grand scheme of a whole day that's insignificant. But in stoplight terms that's ridiculous, and when I'm running late it seems like an eternity.

Not getting stuck at the looong light that leads out of my neighborhood and onto the main road.

Wilcoworld has Aug. 21. I hope this and the St. Louis thing turn out to be part of a solo tour. (I know: greedy, greedy.)

Can't wait for tomorrow's show!

You're right. There is absolutely no reason for that to bother me, but it does. But as you can probably tell from my list of pet peeves, I'm a little off.
