  1. Insane, but I am a little disappointed that he has dropped all but a handfull of songs from MAGIC. The MAGIC songs were very nicely performed and worked well in the setlist at the DALLAS show in April.
  2. Any ONE of the highlighted songs would have been an OMG moment... SETLIST Ricky Wants A Man of Her Own Cynthia, Radio Nowhere, No Surrender, Out In the Street, Hungry Heart, Spirit in the Night, Boys (Max), Cadillac Ranch, Working on a Highway, It's All Over Now, Candy's Room, Gypsy Biker, Youngstown, The Promised Land, Living in the Future, Mary's Place, Devils and Dust, The Rising, Last to Die, Long Walk Home, Badlands. Encore: Fourth of July Asbury Park (Sandy), 10th Avenue Freeze-Out, Born to Run, Rosalita, American Land, Save the Last Dance/Dancing in the Dark, R
  3. Could be interesting... DETROIT (Billboard) -- Texas rock band ZZ Top is gearing up for its next album -- its first with high-profile producer Rick Rubin. "I've known Rick for 20 years and we've waited for this opportunity for a double decade," guitarist Billy F. Gibbons said of the band's new deal with Rubin's Columbia-distributed American Recordings imprint. "I've not sat down with him pointedly to get down to business just yet, but I feel very comfortable working within the framework that he envisions. He's got a good feel on the pulse, and I'm very interested in what he might have i

  5. When you get right down to it, this is the perfect indie record. Alejandro Escovedo backed by Chuck Prophet.
  6. They certainly own their ideology. However, no artist owns their perceived image. No one ones their own legacy. Once the art, record, novel, poem is released, it is owned by the 'consumer'. We all bring our own baggage to the table.
  7. You can imagine the jokes that have come to mind with this trade...We traded our closer for a Hamburger. Arlington, Texas - The Texas Rangers announced today that the club has acquired minor league right-handed pitcher Mark Hamburger from the Minnesota Twins in exchange for left-handed pitcher Eddie Guardado. To take Guardado's spot on the 25- and 40-man rosters, the club has purchased the contract of left-handed pitcher Bill White from Triple-A Oklahoma. White (#56) is expected to arrive and be available in the bullpen for tonight's game in Kansas City. Hamburger, 21, has spent the e
  8. Hmmm...is this an obtuse refernece to a new arrival? Baby? Mucho coolio. details now...name, sex, weight, etc.
  9. I find it hilarious that the Candidate preaching change is chosing the ultimate Washington insider to be his running mate. And you thing McCain is a hothead...Biden is a real handler flyer.
  10. Let's go ahead and be honest about it...the sound and mix of that album is horrible. That would be the point of re-releasing it. Steve has voiced his wish to remaster it and Bruce has shown more amenable to reworking his cataloge than in the past. Maybe...just maybe.
  11. Yeah...the 'Son you may kiss the bride ' verison is pretty nice. The second disc of Tracks is a real revelation. How did he not release Dollhouse, Take 'em as they come, Loose End, I wanna be with you, I wanna be where the Bands are in this time period is a real mystery to me. A lot of people really don't get Springsteen. The Born in the USA period laid some really heavy baggage on him. His depth of vision and artistry has been a cornerstone of the American music scene for over 30 years. As a side note, I am desperately hoping for a 30th anniversary re-release of Darkness on the Edge of
  12. Yeah. I post a heartfelt post baring my emotions and it turns into another wankfest. I can feel the love.
  13. Golden Earring --- Radar Love Meatloaf --- Bat out of Hell Bruce Springsteen --- Further on up the Road Hell, I'm a governmental property appraiser...I don't get pumped up.
  14. Wonderful song from what I refer to as Bruce's bi-polar album. Light hearted, fun rockers and dark, bitter, personal songs. So diverse. So energetic. Has four of his best songs ever (The Ties that Bind, The River, Independence Day, The Price You Pay). Bruce's White Album.
  15. Bruce Springsteen --- Lucky Town The backlash from Bruce dismissing the E Street Band combined with the Over produced LA sound of Human Touch (released on the same day as LT) led to this gem being somewhat dismissed. Guitars galore, Personal and intimate songs and production that doesn't get in the way of the songs. The 92 tour and band were unfairly criticized. This was a very good backing band and a really energetic tour.
  16. Add to that list the Blood on the Tracks is overrated, and one can see the wonder that is the internets.
  17. Used to be you could count of the radio to hip you to new music (those of you rockin' in the 60's and 70;s know what I mean). Then radio station started being run by bean counters and music guys started selling shoes. Luckily, MTV came along in the early 80's, and for a few years you could discover new stuff there. Then the bean counters discovered that they could sell more advertising NOT broadcasting music. (I blame that damn Julie Gentry). Now, it seems like the internet bulletinboard is the new place. I have been hipped to The Drive by Truckers, Ray Lamontagne, My Morning Jacket, Band
  18. Radiohead is dour. Wilco is playful. Radiohead is selfconsciously self-important. Wilco is awkwardly self deprecating Radiohead is a focused band of brothers (so to speak). Wilco is an evershifting vehicle for Jeff Tweedy's vision. Radiohead features British guitar god Jonny Greenwood Wilco features American guitar god Nels Cline Thom Yorke is somebody I would avoid socializing with (shoe gazing gives me the heebiejeebies) Jeff Tweedy is somebody I would like to have a beer with. Phil Selway is a transcendent drummer. Glen Kotche is a transcendent drummer. The debate is silly and
