  1. I bought a presale copy from the band's site last week. I figured there would be no way copies would end up in Canada. And then, Saturday morning, there it was. I did find a copy. I was disappointed by the RSD cover (not nearly as good as the real cover) and the price ($35). Plus it felt like it must be incredibly thin vinyl. So I'm glad I went the presale route.
  2. Is it just me or has it been that kind of night?
  3. I suspect if you search all Tribute2Johnny's posts, you'll have pretty close to a set list
  4. I have refreshed a number of times - it kept telling me to upgrade from Firefox 2 to 3.... I'm using Explorer.

  6. From the "One Degree of Separation" section of the Blue Rodeo website: http://www.bluerodeo.com/music/associates/oneDegree.aspx?PostID=347661&artist=Wilco Bob Egan (lap pedal and steel guitarist for Blue Rodeo) played with Wilco. He can be heard on various tracks, such as "Dreamer in my Dreams", "Far, Far Away", "The Unwelcome Guest", "She Came Along to Me", "One by One" and many others. Jeff Tweedy and Jay Bennett of Wilco can be heard on Jim Cuddy's solo effort All in Time on "I'll Make Believe It's You". "Being There was definitely one of the inspirations for this album and Je
  7. I think this is exactly right. If you want the dog crate trained, you'll have to put up with a few nights of the noise in the beginning. This won't traumatize the dog. In fact, after a couple of weeks, I suspect the crate will become a "safe place" and the dog will go there if/when it's stressed out. But you have to hang in there now (the ear plugs are a good suggestion).
  8. First North American date I've seen for Arcade Fire. I would have posted to UKK but I am blocked at work. Figured you would see this pretty quickly if no one else did.

  10. http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/music_blog/2010/03/the-alex-chilton-panel-at-sxsw.html#more The Alex Chilton panel at SXSW: "Those whom he touched, were touched immutably" March 21, 2010 If the Big Star show that became a tribute to the late Alex Chilton on Saturday in Austin had the weight and solemnity of church, the panel about the band and its lost leader offered the insight and revelation of the best kind of school. Neither setting might have been sought out by the iconoclastic artist they honored, but each added something to the necessary process of mourning and commemoration fo
  11. They did it in Ottawa a couple of weeks ago and it was sublime.
  12. http://network.nationalpost.com/NP/blogs/theampersand/archive/2010/03/12/cmw-2010-q-amp-a-dan-mangan.aspx The Ampersand's annual Canadian Music Week Q&As are back, featuring a mix of well known and little known acts playing this year's festival. Here, Dan Mangan: Q: If you were going to book a CMW showcase, who, besides you, would be on it? A: Wilco, Radiohead, Bon Iver and M. Ward - they've all got potential and I'd love to help them out if I could.
  13. Frontgate certainly isn't perfect. Their online system is a bit hit and miss and their shipping fees to Canada are outrageous. Plus they don't send your tickets for ages.
  14. All I ever hear on the radio is so-and-so wins the Black Eyed Peas tickets or so-and-so wins the Def Leppard tickets. Still hopping that they somehow end up at the Bluesfest here in Ottawa.
  15. 'Cause they were hot sisters influenced by Led Zeppelin?
  16. I think "I saw them at Convocation Hall when the first record came out and enjoyed that. That guy could really play some guitar. Then I lost interest at the exact time that Money For Nothing was everywhere all the time." Totally unfair that I lost interest when they had a big hit but that's what happened. On the other hand, this thread will probably make me go back to Making Movies.
