  1. I was thinking about loading up on Pirates and Royals, but OF sounds like a plan. And if you will recall the Colbert/Wilco episode, the chyron during the open was "I Am Trying To Break Your Balls" which inspired the screen name.
  2. Any drafting tips for a first time player? Should I load up on pitching or hitting? All I know is that Joe Nathan is going to be a sleeper this year
  3. Not likely, this is the e-mail that was sent out a few weeks ago (emphasis mine)
  4. I have picked up a guitar. I have never played This Land Is Your Land.
  5. I am ERIC CLAPTON. Now son, get away from that window and go to bed.
  6. I concur. Side 1 of that album (Tunnel of Love, Romeo and Juliet, Skateaway, Expresso Love) is absolute gold-standard songwriting I've loved Dire Straits since I first heard Sultans of Swing back in the late '70s. It was such a different sound to what you would hear on the radio back then. Haven't listened to much of them lately, since everything I have by them is on vinyl and my turntable wen kaput last summer. Maybe this thread will finally get me off my arse and get me to rectify the situation. And to the OP, great topic, to you.
  7. It actually took me a little longer because I tried the VC shorthand - it only worked for AM and YHF, everything else needed to be typed out. I also found the hidden response when I threw in Kicking Television.
  8. The quiz This may have been the easiest Sporcle quiz I have ever done. What does that say about me,
  9. I hear you because Sun is a character that has a lot more to add (as seen by her actions against her father and with Widmore off the island). However, Sun's constant questioning of "Do you know where Jin is?" is the very same question that I have been asking. I'm rather curious as to where Jin is in respect to what side he is on. Just because he was being cared for by Claire (or was he really her captive?) two episodes ago, does that mean he is on the side of MIB? Whether Sun and Jin end up on opposing sides and how it all works out between these two is the storyline I'm most excited to s
  10. I don't know if this qualifies as an underrated film, but I recently watched Death at a Funeral, and it is now on my list of 5 movies that I would want if I was stranded on a desert island. A fine example of absurd British comedy.
  11. I am trying to break your bats is in.
  12. JC Brooks & The Uptown Sound MUST open for Wilco. I don't care where it happens, I'm there.
  13. The U.S. National Curling Championship is coming to Kalamazoo next week. It may not have the same atmosphere as the Olympics, but I'm so there.
  14. You can blame the pre-games hype on NBC. As for her crashing twice, the crash in the slalom during the combined could have happened to anyone, hooking a tip in slalom is very common. The crash in the GS was a bit more suprising, but the course was not set-up to her strengths. Vonn's best events are the DH and Super-G (the speedy alpine disciplines). The GS course, from what I have read, was on the tighter, turnier end of the spectrum. A gold in the DH (the premier Alpine event in my opinion) and a bronze in the Super-G is still a pretty good showing.
  15. What are the matchups in the Semi-finals? Is it US v Finland and Canada v Slovakia?
  16. We probably would have done better if Lloyd was still our coach and our QB hadn't transferred to your school.
  17. Wilco: 2005-02-26 State Theatre, Kalamazoo 2006-10-06 MSU Concert Auditorium, E. Lansing 2009-10-16 Hill Auditorium, Ann Arbor 2010-02-21 Wharton Center, E. Lansing Tweedy/Kotche: 2005-11-10 Calvin College Chapel, GR I'm still looking for a recording of the Calvin College show. That might have been the best evening of music I have ever experienced. As far as full band shows go, I never thought the Kalamazoo show would ever be topped but the Wharton show was absolutely top-notch.
  18. As a fan and alum of U of M, this pisses me off to no end. I have supported Rich Rod up to this point but he better clean up his act AND start winning right away and in the right way. I find it interesting that Brandon was quoted as he has not even officially assumed the AD position. Was Bill Martin at the press conference? And I will beat all those Sparty's and Buckeye's by saying just think how bad we would have been the last two years if we didn't practice over the allowed limits.
  19. If I'm not mistaken, 28 Nothings Sunday night.
  20. Anyone who thinks that you can't rock out while sitting down hasn't seen Nels at the end of Walken. But then again, Nels probably rocks out when he sleeps, so that may not be the best example.
  21. Getting there wasn't the problem, it was getting home that required a team of huskies and a proper sled. Seriously, I have no idea if there is a refund available for someone who exercised wise discretion in not travelling last night, but I doubt that one would be available. Now if the show had been cancelled, that would be another story.
  22. Just got home after driving 2 1/2 hours through the white out and I have to say that the Wilco Boys brought the ROCK tonight!!!! Right from the get go it was a veritable sonic wallop of guitars and keys and drums right to my solar plexus. The last time I saw Wilco was in Ann Arbor last October and that show was a very subdued evening. What a difference 4 months make. Tonight, they held nothing back, playing plenty of tunes from all the albums. The sound mix tonight was fantastic. I'd like to pick one or two highlights, but hell, the entire night was one highlight after another. Nels seem
  23. Well, they sure brought the Rock tonight . . . I hope they saved some for East Lansing tomorrow night.
