He's another one I have trouble with. I can plainly hear that he's a talented musician, but his wordplay feels cumbersome and overly clever to me. Jandek. Mystery man quietly putting out zillions of albums over the span of decades would seem to be an interesting idea. Unfortunately, his music is atrocious.

These guys, all their songs sound the same (the singer screaming and saying ho-ho-ho all the time), all their songs are way too long and all their albums have way too many songs. It's kind of a bummer that they've become one of my wife's favorite bands. I might have to pull the Zappa card on her. I only play Zappa when she's not around, so she should only play Modest Mouse when I'm not around. I'll throw in Flaming Lips. I admire their ambition, but aside from a small handful of songs, they do nothing for me.

It's no more crass than what you have to do to get on the radio. I would've liked to have heard "Anyone Who Had a Heart." I was in a band years ago that did that one, and it was great fun to play.

If you bonded with someone because you both liked a particular band, would you end the friendship if you thought the band had gone downhill? Or would your friendship have grown beyond the point of just being two people who like the same band?

I'll bet that drummer is glad you can't see him until the end of the video, by which point most people have either stopped watching, or have watched the whole thing and think they are incredible.

I still have a calendar from when I was in high school. I was looking through it just the other day. There was one week in July of 1991 in which I saw Violent Femmes, John Wesley Harding, Primus, Tad and Fishbone.

I think those Hyundai commercials are cute.

This was on PBS the other night. I'd never seen or heard it, and I was only able to watch about 15 minutes of it, but it was good stuff.

I love this kind of stuff. Amazing how terrible the drumming is, but it sounds great in context.

I keep most of my yard tools next to the garage door, so if they busted into my garage, they'd probably block my access to my best weapons (the tamper and steel rake). I'd only have access to a hammer, a couple of hand saws, a bottle of goo-gone and a bunch of half empty paint cans.

The fact that I thought everyone knew that surely means I'm getting old. Wilco coffee. Hmm. What does anyone stand to gain from this?
