  1. Is the Arcade Fire guy really that much taller than John Stewart, or was that a camera trick?
  2. I got to see the Andy Summers and the Jeff Beck replicas at a small guitar store. They were pretty neat, but I would never feel right about playing or owning one of those. Supposedly, Andy Summers had one or two of his on the recent Police tour, but all the footage I saw from it showed him playing a strat.
  3. I probably wouldn't buy a "signature" guitar if it had the "signature" player's name or identifying symbolism on the neck or body (Les Paul being one of the few exceptions). The only thing on the Muddy Waters Tele that identifies it as a Muddy Waters model is his name on the neck plate: The only other identifier is the amp knobs in place of the typical metal tone/volume knobs.
  4. The last arena show I went to was Rush. That was two or three years ago, and their shirts were $35-$40 then. I would assume that's the norm for any big-scale band these days.
  5. America Eats it's Young is another one I don't have. I'm pretty well stocked on Funkadelic albums, but pretty slim on Parliament (although I've heard many of them numerous times). I'll have to get both of those. Thanks for the info. I'm so happy my wife discovered this guy last week.
  6. I own a Muddy Waters Telecaster. I've never played a better stock tele. When I was in the market for a strat, the Jimmy Vaughan model was a strong contender, but I chose the Classic Player '60s model.
  7. That depends how much heroin he was able to buy as a result of the guitar sale.
  8. I wonder if Gibson/Epiphone realizes that, at one time, Dave Navarro owned several Gibson Les Pauls, but sold them all to buy heroin. Then, despite Jane's Addiction becoming the hottest band in the world and making lots of money, he chose to restock his guitar rack with a bunch of Ibanez guitars.
  9. I've never heard of this. Is this a homemade compilation, or something? And speaking of youtube/Wilco tv appearances, why has it been difficult to find Wilco's Jay-era Austin City Limits appearance? Or, for that matter, Sessions at West 54?
  10. Little Dreamer. What a wonderful song. I'll need to pull out some VH when I get home.
  11. I was lucky to see that when it aired. I think I still have it on VHS. I would love to have heard Tony Margerita's conversation with the LA musicians union in which he stipulated that the string section had to be as hot as possible. I wonder if he had to pay extra for them than for whatever schlubs were available.
  12. Last time I saw this one I got caught sleeping and passed on it, and then it sold before I went back for it a few days later. I'll have to order it, I guess. NP: Ty Segall I had never heard of this guy until last week, and I got to see him live on Monday. He and his band put on a joyous and rocking show.
  13. My bike is dark grey, but as a kid in the '80s I did my BMX stunts on a Redline.
  14. During the quiet parts, you can hear the audience running their mouths. Death, taxes, and talking during quiet songs.
  15. I missed seeing them play It's All Too Much by one day. Can you tell me approximately where on that two hour recoding it is? There's no way I'll ever make it through The Dead (and associates) plaing Beatles covers for two hours.
  16. I think I have a couple Mitch Miller records that I inherited from my grandparents. Can't say if I've ever listened to them.
  17. I'm not sure. He definitely replaced the neck pickup. He probably answers all those questions in the links above. He used the Squier as his learning project, but looks like it turned out nice.
  18. Yeah, here's the thread...photos seem to be working now. http://forums.viachicago.org/topic/33229-i-builtrefinished-my-first-guitar/ And here's a thread on a very similar guitar the same guy (A. Miller...does he still post here?) did a few months later using a Warmoth body: http://forums.viachicago.org/topic/35444-i-built-another-guitar/ Fantastic work!
