  1. That'll buy a lot of oxy contin.
  2. Why do they show Machu Picchu, an Inca ruin, in a trailer for a dog that claims to be descended from the Aztecs? Morons.
  3. I don't know. I think if Wall-E and Eve had been given human voices, the movie would have been really goofy.
  4. The main characters in Pixar films are almost never human, yet the viewer winds up caring for them.
  5. Anyone else catch the multitudes of similarities between Wall-E and Idiocracy?
  6. My team won trivia the other night. A guy on one of the losing teams was wearing a Wilco shirt. He congratulated us on our victory as we were leaving. I thought that was very nice of him.
  7. I did. It was greeted with responses along the lines of "REALLY?!?!?!?!?!?!?! That movie F-ING SUCKED!" Heh, I still like it. As far as I'm concerned, once you put Ringo in a Zappa costume it really doesn't matter what happens for the rest of the movie.
  8. Looks like he has a Boss DS-1 distortion.....the orange 3-knobbed pedal.
  9. Diskfaktory.com has been recommended over at the Tape Op Forum. http://www.diskfaktory.com/ Looks like Kunaki is a bit cheaper, though.
  10. The Little Willies record is worth hearing just for Jim Campilongo's amazing guitar playing.
  11. Tom Petty - Lonesome Sundown Nels Cline Singers - Slipped Away (This melody is so sad it was painful to listen to last time one of my cats died.)
  12. I doubt that. He seems too sincere to waste his time taking pot shots at anyone. It was probably just a throwaway line that sounds kind of goofy, but reveals his admiration for Tweedy's work. Maybe he feels his group is easier to describe by saying with it isn't rather than what it is. Anyway, thanks for the article. I always enjoy reading his interview.
  13. I haven't seen that one, but I think I've seen all of the other Zappa films that have been released officially (except for the claymation one). Probably the best documentary I've seen on him is the Classic Albums dvd covering Apostrophe and Overnight Sensation. If you watch that and the Dub Room Special you get a lot of coverage of that particular era. I don't know of any Zappa dvds that cover his entire career. Maybe someday. In the meantime, there's tons of Zappa stuff on Youtube.
  14. I've seen it. It played at a college theater 10 years ago, give or take. I thought it was entertaining and interesting. Kinda creepy. Too bad it's out of print. I'd like to see it again.
  15. There seems to be lots of love for Festival Express. Another rock doc/railroad tour is the unreleased Eric Clapton film "Eric Clapton's Rolling Hotel". I just found out about this move, and have only seen a few minutes of it on Youtube. I think Youtube has the whole film. Apparently, Clapton was at the height of his alcoholism and comes off pretty bad, but it might appeal to completists and/or EC haters.
  16. I LOVE that movie. I didn't know about those other ones. I'll look into those.
  17. I almost bought that yesterday, but I didn't have any cash. I might get it today. I don't care about the lists, but the interviews with all the guitarists on the cover is probably worth $4.50 to me.
  18. I have an SX copy of a Fender Jazz bass. For the money, it's a nice instrument and I don't regret buying it one bit. This is the one I have: Rondo Music is the direct dealer for SX guitars (same prices as Amazon): http://www.rondomusic.com/electricguitar.html Seems like the seller could come down a bit since a brand new one is only $10 more than the one he's selling.
  19. I'm kind of surprised nobody metioned the Isle of Wight movie. I thought it was great. Better than Woodstock. It's been many years, but I remember enjoying Metallica's "Cliff 'Em All" video.
  20. Thanks to Netflix, I found this obscure gem: Driver 23/The Atlas Moth http://www.greencine.com/webCatalog?id=29152 Fascinating! A lot of great ones have been named. Here are a few I that I don't think have been listed yet: Zappa: "200 Motels" (and "The True Story of 200 Motels") Zappa: "Dub Room Special"....the '70s portion of this is the best Zappa live footage ever released, imo. Urgh! A Music War Neil Young and Crazy Horse "Year of the Horse" Pink Floyd "Live at Pompeii" Everything from the "Classic Albums" series that I've seen has been great.
  21. My wife and I have enjoyed the recipes we've tried from this book: Volumetrics Eating Plan: http://www.volumetricseatingplan.com/ The basic idea is that certain meals with very low calories will make you feel as full as a large feast. The recipes we've tried have been delicious and they aren't of the bland baked chicken breast and steamed carrots variety. These recipes are like something you'd get in a restaurant and they don't require a high level of cooking skills. Obviously, you'll see results MUCH faster if you not only improve your diet but increase the amount of exercise you get.
