  1. i don't blame you at all. in fact, i hated them back in high school, well, for the majority of it. i was actually going through a Nirvana/ Sex Pistols/ Clash phase at the time until i met this beautiful girl who liked the early Blink. needless to say, they came along at the right time and that's why i like the earlier/ obscure Blink as opposed to the later/ mainstream Blink. regarding that Herzog bet, if the new album sucks, the mods can close this thread and we'll all forget it happened. i will say that this thread has resurrected some found memories of old music. Limp Bizkit, 311 and Da
  2. he hacked Mandy Moore's Twitter again the other day. http://twitter.com/TheMandyMoore.
  3. i'm interested to see how their new album will sound. their self-titled showed some maturity so it'll be cool to see how much they've really grown these past 4 years. i still listen to Dude Ranch and Buddha often and consider those albums to be very, very solid. by the time they got to Enema of the State, they were huge amongst the younger crowd so i think they tried a little too hard to cater to them and alienated a portion of their fan base by doing so. maybe this 4 year hiatus will have wiped their slate clean and will give them a fair chance at starting over. when their new record comes
  4. awesome news. just goes to show you how powerful music (still) is. its one of only a few things that can stand-up against time. Woody Guthrie would, no doubt, be proud.
  5. haha, i knew i'd ruffle some feathers with that statement. i meant it sort of tongue in cheek. they said the same thing in the latest issue of AP and i thought it was funny. and yes, as i wrote that initial post i thought about Panter, no joke. but come on, some of you have to be excited about seeing them? i wasn't a huge fan of their last album, maybe i grew up, yet i'm still holding out for this new one.
  6. Blink-182 Reunion so, this news is like 4 months old but I just found out about it yesterday. I'm sure many of you could care less about Blink but this news excites me to no end. this was my band in high school. I went out on my first date with my first g/f while 'First Date' was playing. I got drunk at my first college party when I was 17 as 'Dammit' played. I watched TV as a girl... well, you know the words to 'What's My Age Again.' granted, some of their songs are geared towards younger kids, I've found that I can still listen to the bulk of their catalog without feeling funny. IMO, the
  7. wow, that's a pretty heavy setlist. my boss was there and had never listened to Wilco before, yet he's a huge Deadhead/ Phish fan, so hopefully he's been converted.
  8. i think i read that the stream was going to run for a day. if that's the case then there's 11.5 hours left before it disappears... like this country.
  9. that Eddie Murphy interview was great. i laughed so hard during the Batman/ Egghead conversation and i'm not sure why. "EGG-cellent!"
  10. this is a band that i've always wanted to check out but haven't. at the Barnes and Noble in Cary, they have a section for local artists and The Rosebuds are up there, close to Elizabeth Cotten. Ryan Adams used to be part of that group as well but he's been removed. it just occurred to me that NC ain't so bad after all.
  11. i discovered this guy thanks to a video playing in American Eagle, don't ask why i was there, and have been doing my best to track down each of his solo albums. i've acquired the bulk of them with my newest acquisition being his latest, The Empyrean. its amazing how many different genres he can successfully pull off. for those of you who haven't listened to this guy yet, rush out to your local CD shop and stock up. you'll be glad you did. btw, i've also been reevaluating the RHCP catalog with a fresh perspective. i've always shunned them off as Top 40 phonies but they've got it as well.
  12. i forgot all about the drawing. thanks for the reminder...even tho i didn't win, yet.
  13. cool wife! just noticed my play count on itunes for W(TA) is 20! that's not including how many times i've listened to it on my ipod. my average album play count is prolly like 5-6, so i guess i like this album more than i've admitted. still can't wait for the vinyl.
  14. i watched this last night and really enjoyed it. i will admit that i'm not a big Neil fan but after watching Don't Be Denied last night, i walked away from the tv with a new found appreciation for him. he reminds me of Bob Dylan in the sense that he does what he wants/ has to do and never listens to the critics. interesting how these guys are legends now and the people who do release music to please certain groups fade back into nothingness. btw, i liked how Young was boo'd in London for playing Tonight's the Night in its entirety before it was released. "Ok, we're gonna play a song you've all
  15. unfortunately, my web-design skills are quite limited. however, i would def. love to help out to the best of my abilities to see a project like this through. if Jay's family/ estate could offer up some high quality scans of his art, i'm sure i could find someone who could create a rockin' site. thanks for the Derek Phillips suggestion. i'll e-mail him and see if he'd be willing to help. have you checked out Joseph Arthur's art site? Museum of Modern Arthur i was thinking of something similar to that. as for the LP funding, it would only take 160 of us on here to donate $25 to see Jay's last
  16. this is an idea that i've been thinking about for a while now and wanted to throw it out there and see what you all think about it. when Jay and i first started talking to one another, i mentioned his artwork on his myspace page and how cool it looked. he seemed kinda reserved about it until we mentioned him pursuing it further, maybe releasing an art book with an accompanying music CD (like Joseph Arthur) and it was then that he got really excited about the prospect. he told me that he had wanted to do something like that for years but didn't know how. it was an unexpected treat to see his ar
  17. thank you for sharing that on here, it was a nice read.
  18. just listened to You Never Know again after putting it down for a while and i'm liking it a lot better than i initially had. i listened to Bull Black Nova on the way home from work tonight and it was raining/ lightning like crazy with a wild wind blowing. that really gave the song a new meaning to me, not that i was tired of it or anything, just made me see it a different way.
  19. you can't go wrong with John Frusciante. check out Shadows Collide with People or Curtains.
  20. i've been feeling the exact same way regarding listening to Bennett-less Wilco. i've listened to a handful of tracks from W(TA) in the past couple of weeks but think its best to hold off listening to it again until 6/30. however, I'll Fight and Deeper Down will be playing regularly until then.
  21. just saw this movie last night and really enjoyed it. Bones, Chekov and Scottie were hilarious. i couldn't help from grinning ear to ear when i'd catch little references to past Star Trek shows or foreshadowing to later events in the movie. i really like what they did with the storyline and am anxiously awaiting a new Star Trek flick. did i hear somewhere that William Shatner wanted to star in another movie?
  22. call me old fashioned but i enjoy making fun of everybody. i have no problem with the hipsters, i just find them silly. saw a guy the other day at the mall with super tight pants, black rimmed glasses, scarf (it was hot out?) and smoking a cigarette which he was holding in the most pompous way, i died laughing. with that being said, i bought my first pair of levi's skinny jeans the other day. i have chicken legs so they don't look that skinny on me. anyways, its good to see people expressing themselves be it through clothes, music, art, whatever. if everyone looked the same, that's when we sho
  23. that's the coolest Wilco tee i've seen!
  24. get them all! The Beloved Enemy has been one of only 10 or so albums that i have listened to on a constant basis for the past 5 years. i hope Jay's passing doesn't make it impossible to find these albums. he told me a few months ago that they were working on getting them back out there again. i guess its all up to Undertow now.
  25. oh, i noticed every user on here has a rating bar. maybe the votes go towards that? i don't blame you for wanting to disable it. it might be a turn off for new users who get bombarded with negative votes on their first posts. however, it is quite amusing. seeing this get a negative vote made me lol:
