  1. could not be more excited for this album. paste magazine's review the other day said it's kozelek's best work yet.
  2. on the ateaseweb message board, someone said that the folks over at the mmj forum are gonna try and record the set. i have no knowledge about that sort of stuff so i can't give you any pointers, but at least someone will (hopefully) record it.
  3. k i only listened to Evil Urges because yeah, the sound quality is pretty good for a digital camera, but still not that great. and after getting a taste of the new stuff, i'm gonna save myself for the album. but damn, it sounds incredible. simply cannot wait for this record to drop.
  4. this could quite possibly be Album of the Year material, especially after reading that Billboard description. between this and the new Sun Kil Moon album in April, I am going to be a very, very, very happy boy.
  5. definitely the best lineup i've seen yet (for this summer, and maybe the best sasquatch has had, although that's definitely up for debate). gonna need to start saving money for may long.
  6. i remember when i first started listening to more indie/less mainstream music 5 years ago, and this is one of those "highly recommended, must have" records. i checked it out, and turned it off. don't think i made it through the entire thing. mangum's voice drove me crazy. and despite the fact my musical tastes have changed GREATLY over those five years, to the point that i probably would enjoy it now, that initial reaction still lingers in my mind, and i'm rather reluctant to give this a second chance. i probably should, though.
  7. yeah, i'm listening to Kensington Heights for the first time right now. fuckin rock.
  8. so did hurley actually see jacob's cabin, or what?
  9. really? i was much more aware of those on "Rubies" than I was on this one. It seems like the chorus of every song on "Rubies" was da da da. Maybe they're just better incorporated this time around...and yes, it isn't a huge 180 from the previous record, but as long as the quality of songs is still there, I'm not going to complain about it not being radically different.
  10. speaking of which, what do people think of the new album? wasn't entirely sold at first, but it's grown on me a fair bit since then.
  11. if i get to see REM, Modest Mouse, The National, and Destroyer all in a 10-day span, my head will probably explode. I can't wait.
  12. all over that vancouver date. modest mouse was pretty good, nothing fantastic when i saw them a few years ago, but would love to see them just to see johnny marr. and the national was the best show i saw last year. plus REM? all over it.
  13. saw this last nite. it was great. this movie was everything i wanted the matthew broderick remake of godzilla to be when i was 12. i was totally engrossed by this, and really wanna go see it again. and to be honest, as much as everyone had been talking about the handicam shooting causing motion sickness, i don't get it. i mean, sure, it's jerky, you can't tell what the hell is going on at some points, but i never once felt sick. PLUS, the part at the very end with the autofocus (anyone who's seen it knows what i'm talking about) was a stroke of genius.
  14. hahaha. that's the best article ever. one guy gets hurt jumping 12 feet onto his face, and the other guy hurts himself sweeping. rock and roll, man. it's a hardcore way to live. sweeping. gold. (i still love this CD. and still listen to it on an almost daily basis.)
  15. evil urges? wicked. where's the info coming from?
  16. great album. probably one of the greatest title tracks ever, too.
  17. the whole rabbit and elephant story cracked me up big time. i just gained a whole lotta respect for jerry o'connell.
  18. i might go see this tonight, but i've been sick the past few days and already kinda queasy. it might mean closing my eyes during a lot of it, so i'm not sure if it's worth it. i've heard people have been puking cause of motion sickness...
  19. wait...was ledger gay? or is that just in reference to brokeback? and when i say gay...i guess i mean bisexual, cause i know he has a kid/
  20. ya i went backwards with MMJ too. liked Z enough to pick up It Still Moves, which is one of my top-10 records of this decade. And At Dawn is also wicked, wicked, wicked. Still have yet to listen to Tennessee Fire.
  21. yeah, this lineup is pretty lame. i actually LOLed when i saw jack johnson as a headliner...i mean, i like him as much as the next guy, i've even seen him live, but there's no way the guy should be headlining a fest such as this one.
  22. i come online everyday hoping that this has leaked, despite the fact the release is still 3 months away. it's quite pathetic, really...
  23. with any luck, it leaks really early.
