I'm always skeptical of those statistics. Where are these people?

Culture of life is actually a phrase Bush cribbed from the last pope. It made more sense when an anti-war, anti-death-penalty, anti-abortion pontiff was using it.

It's not as simple as all that. Religion was also used to campaign against slavery, against child labor, for womens' suffrage, for civil rights, etc. All these things involved telling some people how to live (forbiding people from enslaving others, forbiding parties and local governments from denying women the ballot, forbiding businesses from segregating as well as many other things). My guess is that you don't have a problem with religion informing the debate on these issues. I certainly don't. It's true that religion informed both sides of those arguments, but the more persuasive case won o

I don't remember being asked who the other driver was in giving my side of an accident report. It might not come up.

How long can you imagine, ikol?

This is getting pretty silly.

That's certainly not true. The Twins scored more (than 30) in a double header earlier this year and even that didn't beat the record.

I've got some invites to myspleen. It's quasi-legal in that none of the stuff they have there is commercially available. At least that's the idea. They've got TV/VHS-sourced Mystery Science Theater 3000 Episodes Adult Swim stuff Comedy Central Stuff Various comedy things Old Nickolodeon stuff Pretty geeky/kitchy for the most part. PM me your email address if you're interested. VCers who are less established should provide some sort of evidence that they have a handle on torrents (a screenshot of good oink ratio or something like that). I normally wouldn't care about that stuff, but I lost

I'm completely dumbstruck.

I have no idea why anyone would prefer the college game to the NBA. The fundamentals are worse, the players are worse, etc. Note: I am a college basketball fan.

Frankly, if it were just a matter of paying hundreds of dollars in fees then there wouldn't be much of an issue. El Presidente tried to make it so that undocumented workers could buy into the immigration process, but that was seen as unacceptable amnesty. There are millions of people who would LOVE to go through the same excruciating process and have all the benefits of full citizenship. -

I'm curious what people make of Bobby Jenks' retired batters streak. The record doesn't have a large footprint in the baseball world. Here's part of a local write-up from Saturday (he's since retired three more batters). Anectdotally--it seems like he's induced a crazy amount of weak groundouts during the streak.
