  1. Rae is her middle name (i.e., srmt=Susan Rae Miller Tweedy). Sukie is a nickname, I guess you could say. And I think it's pronounced pretty much as it looks...SUE-key-ray.
  2. He also "upped the ante" by asking for crowd participation on Slow Love. I liked the effect of the crowd singing the "cultish mantra" of "Slow Love Is The Only Love" to start the song and "No Love Is The Only Love" to close it out. People embraced that singalong pretty well, I thought. Of course, Jeff's banter about how he always wanted to be a cult leader was hilarious.
  3. To answer some immediate questions, the main Tweedy portion of the set lasted almost exactly one hour (from 9-10 p.m.) and then Jeff played about 35-40 minutes by himself before the encores. They were NOT selling the new album but there was a special vinyl-only 10" of parts 1 and 2 of Diamond Light that Jeff said would only be available at this show (and has a locked groove)! I think they probably pressed 500 of them. To me, it seems likely that Diamond Light will not be on the actual album. It sounded more like a Loose Fur-esque track to me, with bass and drums really emphasized, and didn't
  4. Well, Night One of TWEEDY is in the books....will write more in a bit, but for now, here was the complete setlist as played (new song titles taken from printed setlist): Down From Above* Flowering* Summer Noon* World Away* New Moon* Where My Love* Slow Love* Nobody Dies Anymore* Honey Combed# Desert Bell* High As Hello* Wait For Love* Low Key* Spiders (Kidsmoke)^ Passenger Side^ You Are Not Alone^ The Ruling Class^ New Madrid^ Kicking Television^ I Am Trying To Break Your Heart^ Jesus, etc.^ Misunderstood^ ------------------------ Diamond Light* ------------------------ I'm The Man Who Loves
  5. Usually when the principal songwriter of a band puts out a record on his/her own apart from the band, that's called a solo record and when he/she is involved with a project in which he/she is *one of* the songwriters (i.e. Golden Smog, Loose Fur), then it's a side project. At least that's how I would distinguish the two. It's probably splitting hairs, at any rate. I would expect the record to probably come out under "Jeff Tweedy," but who knows...maybe it will be "TWEEDY." Does it really matter one way or the other?
  6. Cool about the second chance thing. As far as seating, this is the city of Chicago we're talking about. There will probably be like 200-300 seats roped off up front for presale buyers, but I virtually guarantee they won't assign seating if they haven't already done it by this point. So it's a good bet there will still be some jostling for position within that presale section.
  7. Glad you won the lottery, Alison! I didn't think about how they would set it up, but this makes sense to me. It's way easier for them to just rope off 200-300 seats near the front and then just let people "fight it out" in that space than try to actually ticket individual reserved seats for everyone. Knowing how the city of Chicago works, can you imagine them trying to organize all that? It's kind of like how they rope off a few rows for the free shows at Pritzker until just before the show. I mean, I'm sure it'll be a total clusterf*ck anyway, but hopefully they'll give you guys priority seat
  8. Fwiw, I heard that Ken Coomer will also be playing at the Big Star Third show in Memphis.
  9. This could be the debut of the Jeff solo band? Not sure if they'll be joining him for the June dates, but I guess we'll find out June 5th in Detroit...
  10. Something to that effect, I suppose. Though it falls far short of the superhero persona you make it out to be. Setlist Schlub is more like it...;-)
  11. Yeah, come on by Chicago people (or anyone else in town)! Sorry I've been too busy pricing records to chime in on this before now. See the esteemed LouieB in his native habitat...;-)
  12. Yeah, Wilco's Facebook page. Some of the comments on various show threads can be pretty hilarious.
  13. Jack White basically saved the Masonic from foreclosure last year by paying the back taxes that it owed, almost 150k. Hadn't realized they'd renamed a theater after him, but it's probably the least they could've done...
  14. Oh, didn't realize that had been cut but probably for the same royalty reason other WtA songs have been cut from Roadcase releases...
  15. Apparently both Vic shows are now available for purchase in the Roadcase, fwiw.

  18. You may as well add the whole week of Pat solo dates opening for the Zombies. Wish I could get to one of those gigs...
  19. Just by way of adding something else to the comments about Night One, I meant to say that I especially dug the version of Misunderstood to close the show. It seemed a little slower to me and just different in tone somehow, a bit laconic and not as "in-your-face," if that makes any sense. Jeff almost deferred to the crowd to sing the verses, and the "nothings" sort of faded the song out gently. At least that's my memory of it. Would be interesting to hear that one again.
  20. Well, thanks for the compliment (and sorry to let you down). It does take some time to sit down and write something reasonably coherent and worthwhile, and it's been kind of a busy few days. And the thing about these shows is a lot of the banter and such is hard to recap precisely because it's largely of the "you had to be there" variety. And that's not to make anyone feel badly for not being there, but just that a healthy portion of what Jeff says involves interactions with folks in the crowd or reactions to weird things that happen during the show(s), like the guy who yelled out early on in
  21. Fwiw, I think he was talking about the Vic's basement (which is where the dressing rooms are) with regard to that comment before Pink Moon. But I did want to express my gratitude that he took even a little time to work on my request; even though it's pretty short, he mentioned beforehand that it's "not the easiest song to play" and that he had practiced it for "like five hours," which I think (hope) was a bit of an exaggeration. He seemed to not totally like the way it sounded through the monitors on stage, which I think precipitated that comment about it sounding "awesome" in the basement. It
