Nice report! Thanks for filling in some of the details. Sounds like it was a fun night and you definitely got some excellent material for Banter Corner. Seems like it would have been weird to have everyone wearing their coats through the whole show, but I guess it was that chilly. I was at the show at the Moore seven years ago, I think, and it definitely seemed like a pretty good place for a show like this. Sort of like the Vic here in Chicago, if I recall correctly. How was Scott's opening set? He just played solo acoustic, I assume? Or did Tad play with him at all?

Well, since Seattle seems to be slacking (go figure), I figured I would start this thread even though I sadly was not in attendance. Would've been fun to hear God again. I just have to say that I find the comments in the Facebook thread about this show on Wilco's page is kind of hilarious. Are people just super attached to "their" song(s) or do they not realize that these are solo acoustic shows? Or both? I need to go thaw myself out some more, so I guess this will just be a preliminary report. But suffice it to say that Jeff turned in a very solid set with a few nice surprises (Nothing Up My Sleeve!). It was a night of long and short songs. I can't remember ever hearing both Remember The Mountain Bed and One Sunday Morning at a show; Jeff also played several of the shortest songs in his oeuvre (or "oooov-ruh," as he pronounced it) such Please Tell My Brother and Bob D

It really is old-school VCers week on, uh, VC! What's next, the re-emergence of Shiney McShine? And IMHO, the "what white people like" argument with respect to Wilco (and generally speaking, the sub-categorization of musical fandom into racial blocs) is pretty tired. Even if there may be some truth to it -- and fwiw, there were people of color at the above LRS -- who really cares?

And I think I've said it before, but it's just Give Back The Key To My Heart; there only one key! (And also, no "Me.") As for the Peoria thing, of course they knew they were "breaking the pledge" and I think Jeff acknowledged as much. He said basically that maybe it was OK because it was their first time playing in town. They have kept their word at the other shows I've seen since...

Actually they did do it at the AmericanaramA show in Peoria (shhh!), but I think that was because it was the band's first time ever playing there, which is sort of unbelievable in and of itself. But yeah, I think that "bit" is probably mostly done...haha.

I wasn't there, but saw this post on the Austin Chronicle blog. Doesn't provide much in the way of a setlist, but sounds like it probably was a fairly "standard" set... Sounds like the crowd didn't help either.

Gotta think that Farm Aid would've been his largest solo performance, though I wasn't there so I don't know how it would compare to LouFest or other fests. I mean, it can be kind of hard to gauge crowds at events like a fest in terms of how many people he actually played in front of. He also played solo at Hardly Strictly Bluegrass in SF a few years back, but that's such a sprawling event (from what I hear) that who knows how many people actually watched his set? But I do appreciate the adherence (mostly) to thread title style by the Preferred One. And thanks for the reports, you guys! Sounds like it was a fun day! I will say that the setlist "Wilco" posts on their FB/Wilcoworld definitely aren't always accurate. Usually the discrepancy happens when the band audibles on stage or cuts some stuff, but weird that they missed New Madrid right in the middle of the set.

So the Autumn D are gonna play the Wilco show on 10/11 and then race over to wherever Lambert's is and play their gig later that night? Guess it's happened before...

Kudos to Danny for "using" his position as a film critic and his fairly insider-y Wilco status (he's the brother of Mrs. Tweedy, for anyone who might not know) to give us a very nice interview!
