  1. Here was Dylan's set (no huge surprise): Things Have Changed Love Sick High Water (For Charley Patton) Soon After Midnight Early Roman Kings Tangled Up In Blue Duquesne Whistle She Belongs To Me Beyond Here Lies Nothin' A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall Blind Willie McTell Simple Twist Of Fate Summer Days The Weight [The Band] (w/Jeff Tweedy, Jim James and Peter Wolf on acoustic guitar and vocals) All Along The Watchtower ---------------------------------- Ballad of a Thin Man
  2. Great show and a gorgeous night, but the venue was packed (15,000, I heard) and full of people there to drink and talk and socialize. Not enough food and drink vendors. Guess it was OK up close, but could've been sucky in the back.
  3. Jeff and Jim (and Peter Wolf, who's apparently playing tomorrow at Giants Stadium possibly opening for Bon Jovi?) now joining Dylan for The Weight.

  5. I wasn't necessarily suggesting that — given that Dylan has been playing more or less the same setlist every night (with one or two swapouts), I don't think it really matters to him where they are or who shows up — but I do wonder why he decides on any given night to have Jeff and Jim join him. My understanding of it is that Jeff/Jim don't get that much advance notice; at some point, maybe even once the show has already started, I think Dylan's bandleader or someone must communicate that Bob would like them to sit in that night and then they either are told or decide collectively what they'll
  6. Before your question gets completely lost, it kind of depends on the venue and how tight its curfew is. Tonight (and last), it seemed like the show had to be over by 11 so everyone's sets got moved up a bit. So that meant that Ryan Bingham played from about 5:15-5:45, MMJ from 6-7:15, Wilco from 7:40-8:55 and Dylan from 9:20-11. If the curfew isn't as tight, then I would say the show would start as scheduled at 5:30 and you can go from there. The changeovers between sets for this tour have been pretty quick, fwiw. Hope that helps...
  7. Typical Dylan, in some ways -- or maybe I'm unfairly judging -- to save a collaboration that a lot of people would love to see for a mid-week show in the most generic of sheds that didn't even open up its lawn section because too few people showed up (around 4,000, I heard, though I bet it was considerably less by the time Dylan went on). Anyway, unfortunately I missed Ryan Bingham's set tonight but here were the other sets: My Morning Jacket Golden Circuital It Beats 4 U Lowdown Outta My System Slow Slow Tune Wonderful (The Way I Feel) Dondante Off The Record I'm Amazed Gideon Bob Dyl
  8. Jeff and Jim just joined Dylan for The Weight! Bob sang verse 1, Jim verse 2, Jeff verse 3, Bob verse 4 and then all three did verse 5. To hear Dylan sing the Crazy Chester line was fun.
  9. More later, but here was Wilco's complete setlist, as played: Sunken Treasure (Jeff on acoustic, no harmonica; Pat on keyboard) Bob Dylan's 49th Beard One By One Hesitating Beauty Misunderstood Poor Places> Art Of Almost Radio Cure Born Alone> Laminated Cat (aka Not For The Season) (electric arrangement) She's A Jar Impossible Germany Box Full Of Letters I'm Always In Love Dawned On Me Cinnamon Girl [Neil Young] (w/My Morning Jacket)
  10. More to come, and I'm sure it won't be long until others chime in... For now, here was Wilco's complete setlist as played: Ashes Of American Flags ($8.93) Bull Black Nova Blood of the Lamb Christ For President I Am Trying To Break Your Heart> Art Of Almost Jesus, etc. Can't Stand It Born Alone Passenger Side I Got You (At The End of the Century) Heavy Metal Drummer I'm The Man Who Loves You Dawned On Me A Shot in the Arm The Lonely 1
  11. Lucius! Love those ladies. Too bad they didn't do Waterloo; don't know if the Dylan crowd could've handled that... What'd they do on Nothing'sever? Handclaps, I hope.
  12. Toronto also seems to get some of Jeff's biggest flubs, like last night on IATTBYH when he just totally blew a verse (or rather sang the same one twice). All he could do was chuckle about it. I remember at one of the Massey Hall shows right at the start of The Whole Love tour cycle, he had a brain fart during She's A Jar that was one of the worst I can remember. (Off the top of my head, I can think of at least a couple of other pretty major flubs, too, and weirdly they were also in Canada.) I say this not to be critical, but because it's endearing that Jeff and/or Wilco has never gotten to th
  13. I was there, and sorry I never replied to this. Part of it was travel fatigue, part of it was internet going down at my place for a few days and not wanting to bang something out on my phone and part of it was not necessarily having much to add to what had already been reported. Anyway, this show seems like ages ago now (even though it was just last week). And it was my first of this tour, so I didn't have a great frame of reference. But in retrospect, especially now that Richard Thompson's stint is over, this was a darn good show from a Wilco perspective. Give Back The Key... is one of my f

  15. Yeah, I was gonna mention that too. I wasn't super close, but I could tell that wasn't Charlie Sexton up there.
  16. Nice! I was hoping somebody got a shot when Dylan was blowing the harmonica between Jeff and Jim at the end there. Must have a been a thrill for those guys. Bob introduced them by saying something like, "Now we're gonna bring up some people who were here before." And then said "Jeff Tweedy" and "Jim James," which was kind of weird just to hear him say those names. (Then again, given how little Dylan has said during most shows recently, it's a little jarring to hear him say anything.) Truth be told, I don't know how much either Jeff or Jim added to Blowin' In The Wind but they were singing
  17. And now Jeff and Jim are back out for Dylan's encore of Blowin' In The Wind.
  18. Yeah Jeff and Jim just came out for Pete Seeger's Oh What A Beautiful City...

  20. Holy cow, AmericanaramA turned into CanadianaramA for a night... Ms. Leslie Feist came out and she, Richard Thompson and the band ran through Leonard Cohen's Suzanne! Plus a set-closing Cinnamon Girl with MMJ. And Sloth. Complete setlist to follow...

  22. Yeah, Jeff did play harmonica on this! That's all he played, actually, so he was able to hold it in his hands, which doesn't often happen. I thought the band really did a great job on this old rave-up even if it got a bit lost among all the other gems in the course of the show. And count me among the fans of the covers set! I mean, it was certainly one that appealed most to the real music nerds but just the energy inherent in the band pushing themselves beyond their comfort zone was a treat. What an opening trifecta, too, and I think Surrender must have one of the most fun choruses I can thin
