  1. I've never really been a fan of the GD, but for some reason I've read a lot of this thread and found it super interesting. How does a person even start to tackle a band's discography such as the GD? My dad played their (I suppose I should say "an") acoustic record (cos they probably have more than 1) a lot when I was a kid.
  2. Yeah, the Tweedy 00-DB is amazing. I bought one back last fall and it's the best guitar I've ever played. The one they had for auction at SS was special just for SS. I got to look at Jeff's model that he uses as a bus practice guitar, and it didn't look any different than the one I have, though the one he uses on stage might be different. It's truly a magnificent instrument. I just wish I was a better finger picker.
  3. Wow y'all are really thinking about this. I guess I'm not as deep, but I felt like TWL was quite a bit different from W(TA). Both sonically and lyrically. And didn't Pat produce several tunes on that record too? Maybe he arranged strings or something? I'll be happy with whatever they put out, honestly.
  4. As an over-singer as well, I concur with your statements. No regrets. I sang so much on Friday I didn't have voice when I woke up Saturday. In my mind that means you're doing it right. I got really tickled that John and Jeff smiled at me when I screamed at the appropriate moment during "we've been had" too. I think TweedyzGirl orchestrated that whole thing a long long time ago, and I've just kept up with the tradition.
  5. Absolutely. have we gotten so bored we gotta complain about how long people clap? I feel like those of us that were down front showed appreciation accordingly. I don't think there's any entitlement if a person doesn't clap. If you want to clap til you bleed, ok, but chastising others for not clapping just seems silly.
  6. Maybe it had to do with how cold/rainy it was, also? I for one was feeling pretty miserable by the time the show was over. I mean I still screamed and howled when they left the stage.... I felt like we were all enthusiastic down front, but whatever. The encore didn't happen cos of weather 100%.
  7. Sunday was worse for me in terms of terrible behavior than the other 2 days, though most of it was the hipster invasion of rail space during the Feliece bros. those folks were just mean. I have a hard time moving through crowds keeping my balance, and I was trying to get back to my husband and this lady said something to the effect of "go around, gimpy bitch" when I said excuse me to try to get by her. It was kinda sad.
  8. Also random, but somebody came up to me at the fest- maybe during the drum thing, and said hey,I know you from the board, and I was totally distracted about something else, and didn't really say a lot, if the guy it was sees this, sorry if I came across as rude! I really wasn't trying to be, I was super distracted about something.
  9. I'm with you on the smoking thing, 100%. It was super obnoxious. Security told these kids during the Feliece Bros. to knock it off, but they didn't give a shit and kept smoking anyway. The drunks were ridiculous.... Cheap beer is not always a good thing. It almost ruined Sunday for me the way some people around me were behaving. i think maybe some of it had to do with those people not really being there 100% for wilco, at least where I was, because most of them left right as soon as Mac demarco and Feliece bros were done. Agree with you also about the weather in the evenings especially i
  10. I heard the Breakfast With Wilco interview Friday morning, and Jeff said there will be a new record by the end of the year. I'm betting late fall. Especially because there was a pause in the interview where Jeff looked over to the PR people to see if he could say something.
  11. Lol. In the photo of the drum orchestra I'm yawning. Jeez. (I only slept maybe 10 hours over Fri, Sat and Sun... our hotel situation was terrible...
  12. I got to drum with Glenn also, and it was such a blast. He is such a nice guy, and man it was fun to work with him! Earlier in the morning on Sunday, my friend and I saw him in Courtyard D, and he stopped for a second and said "hey! how's it going, bandmates!" That piece was so cool too. There's video on youtube too.
  13. That show was incredible. My husband got the set list the next day from a security guard that pulled it out of the garbage, and that second encore, had it happened, would have been the most awesome thing, but alas. I can't remember all the 6-7 songs that were on it- I remember seeing Thirteen, but didn't look too close because as soon as we got it we gave it to this guy that hung out up front with us. He was from Brazil, and it was his first real Wilco show (well, Friday I guess was his first technically, but Sat was the "rock" show). He needed that list more than we did. Anyway, it was am
  14. I'm sorry but I have to disagree with you. My group got there at 8am or before EVERY single day to secure our rail spots for the Wilco/Tweedy shows. We took turns manning camp and it was only left unattended one time because my husband needed a bathroom break while the rest of us were drumming with Glenn or watching the performance. In the 10 minutes he was gone, teenagers actually moved our stuff to try to watch (edit: Feliece Bros, not Mac Demarco) He came back and explained we'd been there for the entire day (in our case 9am because we got authorization to go in before doors to make sure we
  15. I think my word choice was off, I meant something along the lines of approved. TN heat is frying my brain.
  16. after basically 13 years on this website I actually get to go to a "sanctioned" event!!
  17. Watching a doc on netflix called "happy valley" about the penn state scandal, and they use "country disappeared" in the opening credits... logged on just as it started playing and said "what the hell?!" super weird.
  18. I saw it back a few weeks ago At the downtown theatre. Was surprised there were more people there besides me and my sister. I think 10-12 other folks were there. Loved it so much. Can't wait to buy it. I never got the chance to see him live. There's another doc about him that is supposed to be coming out also (I think)...
  19. I wish I was a millionaire so I could go to this. Dang.
  20. I was there! We drove 7 hours for this show because it was on my 28th birthday. Wow. What a show it was! I was really happy that Jeff honored all 3 of my requests! (Nothingsever..., Far Far Away, and Hummingbird). A friend told me that St. Louis Wilco shows were special, and man they were right. Jeff definitely seemed very humbled and simultaneously super proud to be playing where he grew up. Very cool they recorded the show so his dad could listen, also. I hope it makes it into the roadcase too. The band was just as good as the last time I saw them in the fall. All the songs sounded
