everybody gets Replacements for their birthday this year, apparently. Another friend is seeing them in OH for his b-day.
-
What an awesome birthday present for you, Lou!
-
Totally. I bug the hell out of the 1,800 person venue we have here in Chattanooga to book Wilco. They book bands that play the same size venues that wilco plays all the time. It would be a sell out for sure. I'm holding hope it will happen one day.

it was nowhere near his pedalboard. he did it to be a dick.
-
it was for 2 seconds while i took my jacket off. he was being an asshole. AND the woman to my left had like 3-4 emtpy cans sitting there. He didn't kick her shit. Only mine.

I rested a cup of water on the lip of the stage once at a 97's gig, and Ken Bethea kicked it into my face. I don't go to Old 97's shows anymore. Yeah, it used to be, for sure.
-
Gotcha, see, when somebody posted 1:10 I read it as time of day, not time of set length. Very bizarre for sure.Though, for people going, it's neat I guess to see them on a smaller stage.

Unsure if this has been discussed before, but I noticed a striking melodic symmetry between "Where My Love" from Tweedy, and the tune "All The Same To Me" from Golden Smog... has anybody else heard it? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vgw-Hzy11bM https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OC4hZ4J-CD8

I sort of regret it, because I bet RA will have it at the shows we're seeing next week at the Ryman. On topic- the hold steady re-issue of Boys and Girls In America sounds awesome. I'm so glad this record was a grower, because I HAAAATED it at first.
-
Also, I feel like the $12 I paid for the Ryan Adams single was a complete rip off. The store I go to gouges the hell out of the stuff they get, but they're the only store in town that gets stuff. Double edge sword I guess. Really looking forward to checking out the records at Vintage Vinyl in St. Louis in a couple weeks.

If I get back to my record store on Friday- I'll see if they've got any left. If they do I will snag you one.

I've been front row a couple times for Tweedy/Wilco, but the one show that is going to be forever in my mind as the best show I have ever seen/been at, and had amazing seat was Paul McCartney in Nashville this past fall. 3 rows from the stage. I made eye contact with a Beatle. Pretty much never gonna top that unless I one day end up somehow singing with Jeff...
-
I'm not going for much this year. Really just the Ryan Adams 7" I wish I had more money. If I did I would be all over the replacements 10" and the reissue of the hold steady.
-
Kinda glad we are going to solid sound instead of shakey knees. Although there are other bands on that line up I would love to see. So weird wilco would be on in the middle of the afternoon, after they basically opened for Paul McCartney at bonnaroo a few years ago. Maybe the ATL area doesn't dig wilco much anymore, or maybe they've had an issue with a promoter? The last non-festival show they've done there was in 2011... Kinda bizarre.

Oh my gosh yes! This one. Yes. When they started to play it at the Ryman I very audibly said, "oh my god, holy shit" I got some funny looks from people beside me and a person on stage... Should've Been In Love is up there for me. Only heard it once. What's The World Got In Store, maybe I've heard Wishful Thinking probably 4 times at shows (but mostly probably because I stuff the hell out the request thingy on the website...)

I am trying to break your heart one sunday morning, i must be high! i know i didn't really combine them, but I made a sentence! Box full of sunken treasure How to fight Walken. Muzzle of Theologians Heavy Metal Jesus (...etc) It's Just That Hummingbird Trying to Break Your Heart

Yeah. That's probably what we were gonna do. I'm not really sure of where a good place to stop would be along the route, but we're going to take 2 days to get up there for sure
-
We're all set with a room now, thanks to a person on this very forum.
-
Oh yeah, we would definitely drive, though it would be about 14 hours- it'd still be cheaper than plane tickets. We talked about camping, but I don't know that I could physically do it. I saw some pretty cool places on AirBnB. The geography of the NE is really strange to me- it's hard to figure how far things are from the festival- is it very important to be close? When does the music start and stuff?
-
Okay, so tentatively we're going to solid sound. HELP I have no idea what I am doing as far as booking a place to stay/anything about the area (or the NE in general!)

saw Of Montreal this past Saturday. it was a fun drunk time.

Tweedy doing another U.S. leg; Santa Fe, NM in late March

Hoping that means they come back through Tennessee in July... I really hate festivals. -
I get to cross one off my list in April! Ryan Adams is playing the Ryman in Nashville! Whoo-hoo! Also, so on board with seeing Radiohead. I'd love to also see a Jeff Tweedy Living Room show Television The Replacements Loose Fur Arcade Fire Ben Kweller That's about all I can think off... really. At least with bands that are still together. Bands not together anymore would be: Uncle Tupelo The Beatles (if only time travel was a real thing) That's it for me. 2014 saw a bunch crossed off my MUST SEE list. So grateful my husband helped me get there to see McCartney... that's a once in a

Your favorite things that ever happened at a concert you attended
SarahC replied to PopTodd's topic in Someone Else's Song
Nothing is ever gonna top my very first Wilco show which was in NC. It was a complete surprise until the tickets showed up a couple weeks before the show (I was 18 at the time, fresh outta high school, had no job, and my dad surprised me with the tickets, he got them from a fellow VC'erBrianne and I had no idea). Anyway, tix came in the mail and I was already excited beyond all belief then I got an email from another VC'er jhammwho told me if I wanted to get anything signed I should bring something. I figured maybe we'd wait by the bus our something. So, we roll into town and meet this jhamm -
I think I saw more music in 2014 than the last 2 years combined. High points: paul mccartney from the 3rd row. made eye contact with him a couple times. heard every damn song i wanted to hear. between show and soundcheck by the end of the night heard 50 songs. gonna be very hard to top it. wilco 3 night run in my home state was also amazing. nashville (x2) and knoxville. jeff is the best. tweedy on my husband's birthday was also awesome saw some good punk shows, and almost died at one by way of trampling. survived, obviously. rufus wainwright in the atlanta symphony hall low points:
