Oh man, this is hard, I chose Invincibility, and was assigned Animal Transmogrification... so.... I guess the most logical choice would be to turn myself into a dog and be the Wilco pet on tour. Then when the run ends I would turn back into myself and go about my business. When touring resumes turn back into a dog again and hop back on the bus. Taking turns sleeping at the feet of each one of the guys, and eventually worming my way in to running across the stage to and fro with a cowbell attached to my collar during "Hoodoo Voodoo". Sounds good to me.

Poll: giving money to homeless/panhandlers
SarahC replied to Atticus's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
I hardly carry cash these days, so most of the time I won't give them money. When I was a kid, maybe 6 or so, my dad took us to McDonald's for a birthday party, and there was a lady on the corner with a sign asking for money to feed her kids. Dad went through the drive-thru on our way out and bought her 10 cheeseburgers. He gave them to her and the woman just started crying and said "thank you" over and over again and said we were the first people to stop. I don't think I will ever forget that. A few years ago around this time of year a woman approached me as I was getting on the elevator o -
The only thing that bugs me about my job is that I don't have just one boss. I have a director that's over our entire dept (only see him maybe 4 times a year). and then my supervisor (he basically makes out the month to month schedule for everyone and keeps us all on track with that, and then occasionally works a weekend), THEN i have about 6 or 7 people that are salaried and rotate taking turns assigning me and 2-7 other people (all of us that do what i do are part time) our various assignments/places to be. it sucks big time because not one of the schedulers wants to do it, and there are a

I assume you'd have to get some sort of an adapter. I have a cord that can plug into my guitar and then the iPad, and I bet it would probably work for a keyboard too. I guess it depends on the app. I think I got the cord from Target...

This. Absolutely no doubt in my mind that this is the best live translation of any Wilco song. Those harmonies. I remember the 1st time I saw them it made me cry, and not just a couple tiny tears, but big ol' sobs of joy. I think it was the 1st time that ever happened to me at a concert. Something I will probably remember forever. My dad thought it was ridiculous... he doesn't "get" wilco though... Love- Hell Is Chrome, Standing O (because it was loud as hell the last time I saw them play it), Company In My Back, Ashes (just because of Nels) Like- everything else they play at that partic

You guys, I am so excited! My husband bought me the Epiphone cousin to the Jeff Tweedy SG. It plays amazing and sounds great. I can't compare it to the Gibson, but the color is pretty close and stuff, so yeah. I am super excited about it, because there's no way in hell I would ever be able to afford the real SG. I'll post pics soon.

Favorite band that I can listen to their records and then go see them play, yes, but my #1 of all time (that I can't go see) is the Beatles.

Should've Been In Chicken Instead of banjo there's clucking at the beginning of the song.

Tweedy Nominated for Producer of the Year Grammy

I'm more shocked at the Tame Impala nomination. Didn't realize that they were that "big". Very exciting for JT for sure though! Thank you for sharing. -
Wow, Jesse, thank you for sharing this with all of us! You are such a great guy, and I am so glad that we've known each other for a while now. All because of Wilco! Your video work is awesome, and the DVD project is and was so great. Because of your DVD project I was able to "see" Wilco years before I actually saw them in concert. Your work means a lot to me personally for that reason. So, thank you Jesse, and thank you Wilco!

Record Store Day: Black Friday 2013 Edition

I got the Sondre Lerche 12" Hi-Fi single that came out, and the Uncle Tupelo 7" both very cool. The cover art for the Sondre Lerche is awesome, and I am thinking of framing it. -
The guitar my Papaw made for me. Even though it doesn't have strings on it right now, and I seldom ever play it, it was the 1st really guitar I had, and Papaw built it with his own 2 hands (and several electric saws). He painted a rose near the sound hole and painted my name across the head stock. I played it and played it and played it until it became ragged and unglued at parts. Even though it doesn't look like a Gibson it sounds amazing- it's rosewood mostly I think, and the fact that he made it special for me means a lot. He also made me a fiddle when I was born that I have even though I c

Maybe he keeps it loose to get extra vibration or extra resonance or it distorts the pitch or something?

It's very interesting. I took a beginner percussion class in college and played on the front line ensemble in high school so i know how to read percussion music. I am probably gonna buy this book with money from Christmas just to get some insight into Glenn's chops. I think it's really cool he put out a book like this. it'd be like Jeff putting out a book of why he picked certain lyrics or chords.

I wonder if January and February might be a good time for Jeff Tweedy to come do some solo dates down South? Especially with the Autumn Defense in Europe....

I want the pig tee. And that grounds crew jacket. And a new hoodie. I need to start saving!

I know there are several musicians here on the board, so I thought I would share this. Apparently, Glenn put out a book that's sort of a drum instructional. It goes through how he came up with beats to a bunch of wilco songs as well as the ways he applied classical technique to the drum set. Very neat! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SM68hDQOR24 Link for the book: http://www.alfred.com/Products/A-Beat-a-Week--00-42256.aspx

Fantastic. the Bridge School.

I might buy that for the demos, but it sort of leaves a bad taste in my mouth after shelling out all the dough for the reissues that happened last year (or was it the year before?)

Daily. At least one song. I feel weird if I don't.
