  1. If it's billed currently by the festival as Wilco, why all the sudden would it change to just Tweedy- it wouldn't make sense.
  2. After an extremely frustrating time getting tickets we ended up with 2 very nice seats at the Ryman. I was ready to throw my computer through the window by the end of it though. It's a bit disappointing to see almost 300 seats on stub hub for that show. That's almost 15% of the venue.
  3. I don't think any of the tunes are autobiographical except for "Longer Than You've Been Alive"- I think it's more these songs are about extremely messed up narrators. The whole genesis for the record happened in Nashville where Rhett was on a co-write with a guy named John McElroy. The dude told Rhett immediately "I looked you up on youtube, and I think you're audience would like it if you just say the word "fuck" a lot". They wrote the song "Nashville" on this new record. I think there's several outstanding tunes on the new record. Murry's contribution is excellent. As a whole it's bett
  4. They really do amp it up with the new tunes live. I got to go to a private party of sorts at the Jack Daniel's Distillery last weekend and the 97's were the band playing. It was quite fun to hear the new tunes in that setting. Interestingly enough, the last couple records have been recorded mostly live with very little overdubbing at all. Especially compared to "Drag It Up" and Rhett's first 2 solo records.
  5. I am extremely tickled so many people are listing "Most Messed Up".
  6. Lucky Maine folks. I would probably camp out all day to see Tweedy if he played any of the free concert series around here.
  7. Yeah- I keep pulling not so good seats now. I don't wanna pay for the last row of the venue. Especially when there's another pre-sale tomorrow and On Sale fri. Better chance to get a good seat.
  8. Shut out of Nashville. trying the TM pre-sale tomorrow and reg. on sale friday. dammit.
  9. Pre-sales are happening the same way Wilco ticket pre-sales happen (through frontgate). There's a bunch of info on that here: http://viachicago.org/topic/39572-general-info-about-front-gate-ticketing/
  10. i 2nd what was said about the avert brothers also the thing about jeff touring the south. starting to feel downright snubbed. also, paul mccartney, why are your tickets so damn expensive?
  11. I just saw yesterday that Paul McCartney is coming to my area this summer! Pretty exciting. Here's the list of tour dates for the summer, and stuff. Looks like a little less than half are already sold out. My husband and I are going to Nashville I am pretty sure- any experiences about past shows you guys wanna share? I never thought I would get to see Paul live in my wildest dreams. Pretty stoked. Here are the rest of the dates: June 14: Lubbock, TX - United Spirit Arena June 16: Dallas, TX - American Airlines Center June 19: New Orleans, LA – Smoothie King Center (SOLD OUT) June 2
  12. The way he was acting about the farm life and stuff, in my mind, felt condescending. Like, asking Jason, "was that real?" like rural communities are some sort of fairy tale, or something. That was what rubbed me the wrong way. I didn't think the comments about "rich red necks" or whatever was condescending. That's very true. like Jason said, the term red neck didn't always conjure a stereotype, it used to refer to a person that worked hard outside all day, thus they have a red neck (and my dad is actually one of those people).
  13. This was funny. Thanks for sharing.
  14. I felt like Mark Maron was a bit condescending about the whole southern thing. It made me feel a little bit mad, honestly. Interesting interview otherwise.
  15. http://www.newyorker.com/online/blogs/culture/2014/03/listen-to-nashville-by-the-old-97s.html New song from "Most Messed Up" up at the new yorker if anybody is interested. This is the one I was tell you guys about. A-man, that kid is awesome!

    Pono

if they were wouldn't they have done it already though?
  18. That's what I was gonna say.
  19. I believe that evolution and God support each other. I identify as a Christian. BUT I also believe that our perception of the "6 days" the Earth was created in is totally wrong, not literal in the slightest, because how the fuck are we to know what God's timeline is? A day to God could be 6 million years on our time table. That's just how I see it- and unfortunately, because of where I live, and the narrow-mindedness of the conservative church, several of my "friends" decided I was going to hell and stopped hanging out. It's tricky business.
  20. First song is up on Entertainment Weekly. http://music-mix.ew.com/2014/02/04/old-97s-new-single-album-tommy-stinson/
  21. turn on- neck kisses turn off- saying words while burping
  22. Hoping this includes the southeast also. It needs to happen.
