  1. Shut out of Nashville. trying the TM pre-sale tomorrow and reg. on sale friday. dammit.
  2. Pre-sales are happening the same way Wilco ticket pre-sales happen (through frontgate). There's a bunch of info on that here: http://viachicago.org/topic/39572-general-info-about-front-gate-ticketing/
  3. i 2nd what was said about the avert brothers also the thing about jeff touring the south. starting to feel downright snubbed. also, paul mccartney, why are your tickets so damn expensive?
  4. I just saw yesterday that Paul McCartney is coming to my area this summer! Pretty exciting. Here's the list of tour dates for the summer, and stuff. Looks like a little less than half are already sold out. My husband and I are going to Nashville I am pretty sure- any experiences about past shows you guys wanna share? I never thought I would get to see Paul live in my wildest dreams. Pretty stoked. Here are the rest of the dates: June 14: Lubbock, TX - United Spirit Arena June 16: Dallas, TX - American Airlines Center June 19: New Orleans, LA – Smoothie King Center (SOLD OUT) June 2
  5. The way he was acting about the farm life and stuff, in my mind, felt condescending. Like, asking Jason, "was that real?" like rural communities are some sort of fairy tale, or something. That was what rubbed me the wrong way. I didn't think the comments about "rich red necks" or whatever was condescending. That's very true. like Jason said, the term red neck didn't always conjure a stereotype, it used to refer to a person that worked hard outside all day, thus they have a red neck (and my dad is actually one of those people).
  6. This was funny. Thanks for sharing.
  7. I felt like Mark Maron was a bit condescending about the whole southern thing. It made me feel a little bit mad, honestly. Interesting interview otherwise.
  8. http://www.newyorker.com/online/blogs/culture/2014/03/listen-to-nashville-by-the-old-97s.html New song from "Most Messed Up" up at the new yorker if anybody is interested. This is the one I was tell you guys about. A-man, that kid is awesome!

if they were wouldn't they have done it already though?
  11. That's what I was gonna say.
  12. I believe that evolution and God support each other. I identify as a Christian. BUT I also believe that our perception of the "6 days" the Earth was created in is totally wrong, not literal in the slightest, because how the fuck are we to know what God's timeline is? A day to God could be 6 million years on our time table. That's just how I see it- and unfortunately, because of where I live, and the narrow-mindedness of the conservative church, several of my "friends" decided I was going to hell and stopped hanging out. It's tricky business.
  13. First song is up on Entertainment Weekly. http://music-mix.ew.com/2014/02/04/old-97s-new-single-album-tommy-stinson/
  14. turn on- neck kisses turn off- saying words while burping
  15. Hoping this includes the southeast also. It needs to happen.
  16. I love that part. I saw a tribute band this past weekend that played the entire Abbey Road record, and this part was really fun to hear live. The MOOG solo in Maxwell's Silver Hammer always blew my mind as a kid... I had no idea what was making that noise but I liked it
  17. I like some of those anthology outtakes better just for that reason... also the solo John piano demo thing of Strawberry Fields I never noticed that- listening now.
  18. Yeah, it is indeed an Epi Sort of a knock-off of the Tweedy guitar. Contemplating getting a white pick guard and a truss rod cover that says "tweedy" to make it a true knock off. It plays well. My husband got a great deal on it too.
  19. finally getting around to posting a picture of the guitar my husband bought me for christmas.
  20. Can the rest of us post gig pics we're proud of too? Love all the photos you post!
  21. I can hear similarities in the chord changes for sure. I mean how many times has a D chord been used in pop music with that rhythm in that time signature. probably too many to count. Definitely hear how somebody could make that assumption comparing the two. Hell, if I had heard that song without clicking this thread I would say most likely, "wow that sounds like Sunken Treasure"... rip off, not really, because if you wanna be technical about it everything is a rip off of something in some way or another. I think it's a nice song, and I think it's not right to write it off completely as "not go
