  1. I am excited for this record, but more excited for the tour that will follow so my husband can finally see Son Volt.
  2. Made my nana listen to Spiders once. In the noisy section she said, "are they frying a cat?"
  3. I've been into Wilco since 2001, and in all that time have only ever had a short period of a couple of months where I didn't listen to them at all (mostly between SBS and W(TA) where I was focused on seeing other bands live and listening to new records). Wilco has been in constant rotation for me since I first got into them, and especially after I started seeing them live. I was 4 years into being a fan before I got to see a show, and I think that's part of what keeps the magic alive, going to shows, being apart of that experience.
  4. This made my day. I want to hug his daddy's neck.
  5. He knew I was coming to the show because some mutual friends told him the night before in a different town, and then some friends at the show gave me a backstage pass on his behalf. I was lucky. Met Rufus Wainwright this weekend. I think I am even more in love with him now... in that completely platonic way that a person can be in love with a singer... he was genuine and nice and actually seemed interested in what I had to say.
  6. Whoa. This looks very interesting! Thanks for sharing!
  7. I have 2 rap records. Both are by Jay-Z and I downloaded them when I was trying to make my husband be my boyfriend 4 years ago.
  8. D'oh wikipedia! It says 680 feet for downtown Chattanooga, and I live 6 minutes from the center of downtown by car, so that's pretty close.
  9. I haven't the slightest idea. How do you find this information? (Must have skipped this day in science class)
  10. So, I am in love with the Replacements after seeing Color Me Obsessed last winter. Seriously, it was awesome, and I was more a casual fan before I saw that film, and then for a week I couldn't get Answering Machine outta my head. Might have already posted in this thread something similar, but I can't remember, and am too lazy to search before posting.
  11. I have one. I don't really wear it all that much, but don't know if I could really part with it, because I've lost quite a few older wilco shirts too. My worst loss was from being over zealous with good will donations, and when I realized my Summer Teeth era shirt was mistakenly put in the donation bag I'd dropped off, I legitimately cried
  12. Do! I would be interested to see it. When they toured back in 2010 I was able to snag a promo of "Timebomb"/"Just Like California" that had been on Rhett's practice amp for years. It's got Jameson stains on it.
  13. So excited for the vinyl of this to come out. I pre-ordered the day it became available. For those who care, New West recently put out vinyl editions of both Grand Theatre releases, and Drag It Up. All sound really good on the turntable. Also, Rhett's got a new solo record out- "The Dreamer". It's more roots than his previous efforts, and features a hell of a duet with Roseanne Cash. I can't remember if there was a thread about that record or not... oh well. (also, Rhett's vocal efforts are currently running in an Olive Garden commercial... gotta get those kids college funds somehow I gu
  14. *sigh* I have nothing to add to this thread so I am going to back away slowly and go tinker in another part of ELT.
  15. I really want to get the "Wilco House" shirt from the May tour that's in the store, but I don't need another Wilco shirt right now. It's awesome though. Wilco + waffle house.
  16. Can I copy and paste this to facebook to shut my right-winged friends up? Seriously, this is very well said.

  18. Agreed. I will never understand how somebody in the middle class can support a Republican candidate. My family is middle-middle class, I think. I saw during the Clinton years, that my parent's jobs were doing really well, my dad had steady (union) work, and we didn't have to struggle. 2 years into the Bush administration my dad was laid off of his job, and was unemployed for the majority of the year. My family started to struggle. Personally, I've always seen the Democrats to be more supportive of the working person... and they seem to want what's best for the country, and not just the elit
  19. Commence dancing around the room. Also, that story about the Ramones.
  20. That is really cool! Good for you!
  21. this was my last submission. A gentoo penguin with nesting rocks. I get to work with these penguins, and it's the tail end of breeding season. My friend Amy had the idea.
