  1. Also, something I don't get... why does everyone assume "religious" people can't be liberal/will not back the president. I am a Christian, but I keep church and politics separate. The way this country is run should not be dependent upon its leader's religious affiliations. That leader should do what is best for this country, not what's best for the preachers of doctrine, and vice versa. Doctrine should not be intertwined with politics. That being said, I voted for Obama in 08 and plan to vote for him this time.
  2. I wish there was an applause emoticon for this.
  3. I must admit, whether that is factual or not, it made me laugh.
  4. I am in between books at the moment. School fried my brain, so I've been playing more video games lately just to veg for a few days. However, my husband is reading the Harry Potter series for the FIRST TIME EVER. it's fun rediscovering it through his reactions to it.
  5. Found out today that I have lost my grant for school. I have been working on an undergraduate degree since 2006, and have changed my major a total of 4 times. As a result, I have too many credits to qualify for any more aid. Basically, I shot myself in the foot with the school's own gun. I couldn't complete the requirements in any of the majors I tried to be in (i.e.: couldn't make it through their standardized testing, final recitals, etc.). I went from English > Music Education > Education > Communications > English: Writing This past semester I finally switched back to En
  6. THIS made me laugh so hard. thanks for that!
  7. We should do a kickstarter or pledge music campaign for this to happen
  8. I can't decide which guitar would be more awesome, this one, or the SG. Gah, if I win the lottery I would get both. So pretty, and I bet equally a joy to play.
  9. I want to buy one of these guitars so bad.
  10. It practically impacted my back yard about 5-6 years ago. For a while we'd had really shitty neighbors. They practically ignored their kids, and a lot of times the 2 youngest would come over to our house and ask to "borrow" milk/bread/sandwich meats. They had no supervision whatsoever, and one time my mom found one of the kids in the middle of the street laying down. She asked her what was going on, and the little girl said she was hoping to get run over to "meet Jesus and run away from mommy". My mom called the police. My dad had also noticed a lot of in/out traffic over at their place, and
  11. Remember the mad dash to the front in Santa Barbara? That's the only time I've been front row at a Wilco show.
  12. Maybe I am a bit over zealous. I just really, really want to be front row. When did people start lining up for the GA Chicago shows (though I guess it is AL and not IL... so there's probably a big difference) At the Avett Brothers show we saw in December, this drunk floozy got in front of me, and my sister (4 years younger than me, which makes it all the more awesome and slightly embarrassing) threatened to knock her teeth out if she didn't move. The girl moved.
  13. My husband and I will be attending our first GA Wilco show at Sloss Furnace next week. So, I was wondering if any of you guys experienced with GA shows could give us some tips. I have been to 1 GA show before in Berkley back in 2007, but nerfherder (Collin) and I lucked out into a second row spot. How early is early enough to ensure front row? We were thinking 7am. Do we just run like hell to the front of the stage when they open the gate? I emailed Sloss Furnaces to ask them what the procedure was for GA shows, and they didn't really say much, except "get here early" I know i'm p
  14. How does a living room show newbie break into the scene? That's what I am wondering. I'm saving money now in hopes of making a show in 2013...
  15. I bet the first few shows they close with 'the weight' or 'i shall be released' I am so so so so so so pumped for the show in 2 weeks. almost 2 weeks exactly in fact. we are camping out all day at the venue to ensure front row status. :rock :rock :hyper :hyper :D i think those little guys accurately express my emotion. I hope they had a good break, really, because that means they will rock extra hard. Been requesting A Magazine Called Sunset every day for like 2 weeks now with different reasons why I love the band in the comment section. hope it makes whoever reads those comment
  16. I figured I would share this here. I have to turn it in tomorrow and read it aloud in my Creative Writing class. Thought some of you might like to read it. Thanks Sarah “He Almost Killed Me Dead” It was a typical, rainy and grey November day in 1999. I had been summoned to the main office of Soddy-Daisy Middle School for a mysterious early afternoon pick up. As I waited for my mother, I mulled over the reasons for my early departure.I fidgeted in the plastic waiting room chair. It wasn’t the dentist. I ran my tongue over the braces on my top teeth. It wasn’t a doctor’s appointment. I
  17. I remember going to the store and getting it the day it came out. It was one of those rare times my mom took me to the mall on a school night. Can't believe that was 10 years ago... the songs are so timeless.
  18. If anybody wants to tune in, Rosie (TweedyzGirl) is doing a tribute to Levon right now. http://www.wdbx.org/
  19. He doesn't seem too happy to be on Letterman... I love the Beatles.
  20. It depends, also, what seats in the venue you are occupying. I got vulgar slurs yelled at me in the Obstructed View section of the Ryman balcony back in the fall. Sort of ruined the show for me. Hope the crowds are nicer where you see them.
