  1. Thanks! Yeah, it plays great! I'm looking into a thicker and padded strap. I think that's the answer to fixing the shoulder. Weight is one of the main reasons I didn't get a Les Paul the last time I bought a guitar. Some of those top out at like 11lbs. too much for me.
  2. i'm drooling. damn what a cool guitar. maybe one day i'll own one if i win the lottery. that thing costs more than my car and my boyfriend's car combined!
  3. That sort of freaks me out. In the future people won't have well trained ears because of things like this. Also, what happens if you break a string?
  4. now that would be sweet! i've always been fascinated by custom guitars, and guitar building in general. i have 3 hand made acoustics that are really more heirlooms than anything. one built by my great grand-dad and 2 built by my great-grand dad. they aren't shiny or glossy or anything, but they're priceless to me. It neat to think about somebody shaping the wood with their hands, and piecing it together, as opposed to a robot machine putting it together. I think my dream guitar would probably be like that red sunburst guitar that Jeff plays on "Walken"... that thing is awesome. I don't ev
  5. Saw the band in September and had 3rd row seats. Stood up the entire time, no question. When I saw the band in October, for the 1st night we were in the balcony of the Ryman in the obstructed view section, and a lot of people around us were bummed by the view (frankly I could be behind the stage behind a curtain and be happy just hearing it). My boyfriend and I stood up from the moment the band took the stage. We let the people behind us know that we were going to stand. That we'd traveled a good bit to be there, and we were excited, so we were going to stand. About 6-7 songs into it, there
  6. Well, I had an interesting couple of days. I took my strat into the local music store to be setup and tweaked. I was having issues keeping it in tune, because it has been outfitted with a floyd rose. It also has been sounding wanky for the last couple months. The low E string always had a weird buzz. It sounded bad. I found out that some parts of the floyd rose system were bent. The owner of the guitar shop asked me about it, and then basically told me that my guitar is a "parts guitar" and wasn't an original 1980's Japan strat like I had been told by a previous store. I told him that I
  7. I know there are a fair number of VC'ers on the board who are married, so I thought I'd take a moment to ask you guys what you think of eloping? My husband-to-be and I have been engaged for just short of a year, and have been in a serious committed relationship for almost 2 years. (We'd been friends before we got together, but that's neither here nor there to this post). Edit- I'm 24 and he's 26 My parents, especially my dad, were very reluctant about the whole engagement thing in the first place (his main complaint is that I'm still trying to get my damn undergrad, and that we're "too you
  8. here is my cover of an Old 97's song- never managed to get any videos of wilco covers. this is from a few years ago.
  9. Hey guys, Currently I have 2 main guitars. A Dean performer series acoustic-electric and a 1980's Japan Fender Stratocaster. I'm starting to get the itch to buy a new guitar (I have been playing those two for the better part of 6 years now), and was hoping to get some opinions on semi-hollowbody guitars. I've always kind of wanted one after I saw Sondre Lerche way back in 2004. I really like the tone of them, and think the sound would lend itself to the sort of music I make. My budget is really no more than $700 What are some good brands/styles? Do any of you guys play them?
  10. has anybody captured the whole performance? i'm having issues streaming and oh my gosh that documentary is amazing. wow.
  11. My dad hated to get there so early when he'd take me to shows, but I bet he did it for the exact same reason you do!
  12. Weird, because W(TA) is only one disc, but the run time on it is something like 55mins and change.... Maybe, too, it has to do with how the record itself is produced.
  13. I wonder if Verlaine made the list. I'm gonna consult professor Google.
  14. Suites was not being a "dbag". He was just giving you the facts. If you've been in the situation before, why even ask the question at all? Good luck trying to find a ticket.
  15. I guess there are people who can though, which is why he still sells them that high. All the retired people! It was good show though, and I do think I got my money's worth from it.
  16. That's awesome! Who was #1? I would put him a little higher than 82, but that's great he made the list!
  17. I don't think that was a lecture at all. That's just fact. The tickets are all gone for those shows. You're response was a bit uncalled for, because all suites did was answer your question. You might have a better time trying in the actual ticket area of the boar, for what's it's worth. If prices for these shows are anything like the fall tour tickets were close to $50 a piece after fees
  18. i just re-read most of this thread. saw neil young last year in atlanta, probably won't go see him again. it was great to get to see him (we were in 2nd balcony), but the prices were too high for me. we pail $121 for 1 ticket after fees. i got 2 tickets to see wilco in the fall for $100... it's not economical
  19. this is really good. i've decided that listening/watching tom waits is like experiencing live theater.
  20. Would being on their own label effect their chances?
  21. Where could a person order this? There are none to be had in my city
  22. I don't think there's anything out yet as far as samples go, but I have it on good authority that this song will be on it...
  23. Now that's it is the day after Thanksgiving, it's officially Christmas season at my house!
  24. I know there are a few fans of Rhett on VC, so I thought I would post about the new PledgeMusic site he launched this morning. Rhett's been working on a new record for about a month, and decided to team up with PledgeMusic to help raise the funds for the rest of the record. This will be his 2nd release on his newly formed record label, Maximum Sunshine, and through PledgeMusic the fans have an opportunity to help make the record, as well as get some really neat exclusives. You can see the PledgeMusic site here: http://www.pledgemusic.com/projects/rhettmiller I donated $150 and got a
