now that's awesome. see, that's the band & venue being really cool instead of just allowing there to be empty space. knowing that it was a band-sanctioned idea should let the folks who are steamed about it feel better? maybe? having obstructed view seats can be a bit of a bummer (had them for Nashville night 1), but if you just resign yourself to the fact that you can still hear everything just fine, it's okay. guess it depends on viewpoint. though, when i came across that tumblr post from that kid, it was really sweet because they were so excited about being upgraded. as long as i -

For what it's worth, sometimes I look up Wilco on tumblr, and found a post from someone who got moved up to the front: a man who worked there came up to us and was like “Are you two pretty big Wilco fans?” and we were like “Uhm, YES!” and he was like “Well Would it be okay if I moved you up to the first row as long as you guys are excited and help get the band pumped up so they play an amazing show for us?!” and we were like “YES!” annnnnd so we ended up in THE FRONT F****NG ROW FOR THE WHOLE SHOW. -
At one point I had a really really old wilco shirt that was autographed, and I was a dumb young kid in love, and gave it to the guy I was dating. Biggest gift related mistake I ever made.

I have a hard time believing it was the band's doing. They don't do thing like that. I do believe they upgraded the people when the projector was taking up their seats. That I believe. I don't believe they're taking $5 extra for early admit. No way. -
I also have one that a VC'er made me, and a hoodie too.

That's awesome. Does anyone know where you can hear his opera? Did he release recordings of it?

I saw them a couple weeks ago, and it was an excellent show. My 3rd time seeing them, and it was by far the best. Really dug the couple new tunes they played. -
Getting Hitched! (elope or no?) What was your wedding like?
SarahC replied to SarahC's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
Wow guys, thanks so much for all your wedding stories! It's really neat to read about how you guys celebrated your big days. I think we are going to go with the church down the road. It seems like it's just the right size, and in the right place. It's funny, because I do still work at the aquarium, and we have thought about having the reception in one of the buildings on the campus of the aquarium (there are 3 different buildings if you include the imax along with ocean and river journey), but have thought better of it, because it is expensive, and a lot of our co-workers might be put -
I just finished the book "Room". Whoa. What an interesting, somewhat scary, read. Wow.

I love the Avett Brothers. They blend old style instruments with excellent lyrics that speak to my generation, but are sensible enough for my 79-year-old grandfather to tap his toe to.

The black ramones style tee The blue radiator ring tee The brown kicking TV tour 2006 tee The red sky blue sky release shoes tee The black road trip 2007 tour tee A purple shirt with cursive that says Wilco The Wiilco tee with their faces as cartoons The evening with Wilco tour tee The Wilco (the album) release tee The Whole Love album release tee The Whole Love tour tee A couple of these don't fit. I want to do this, but don't know how in the world we could afford it. Might try to talk Matt into waiting to take a honeymoon and make it Solid Sound!

thanks ya'll for sharing your stories. i think we might just do something really small at a community church by my house. it's a super small town. Matthew (my future husband) talked with a pastor at the church, and he said he could marry us for $150 which includes use of the church, their sound system (not sure what we'd use it for) and dressing rooms. sounds like a fair price. i am worried that my dad will beat up his dad. they've never met, and matt's dad really isn't the best of people... it's probably too personal of a topic to get into on VC. i know it's cliche, but i knew i was go -
awesome! i love ted leo's voice.

Thanks! Yeah, it plays great! I'm looking into a thicker and padded strap. I think that's the answer to fixing the shoulder. Weight is one of the main reasons I didn't get a Les Paul the last time I bought a guitar. Some of those top out at like 11lbs. too much for me.
-
i'm drooling. damn what a cool guitar. maybe one day i'll own one if i win the lottery. that thing costs more than my car and my boyfriend's car combined!
-
That sort of freaks me out. In the future people won't have well trained ears because of things like this. Also, what happens if you break a string?
-
now that would be sweet! i've always been fascinated by custom guitars, and guitar building in general. i have 3 hand made acoustics that are really more heirlooms than anything. one built by my great grand-dad and 2 built by my great-grand dad. they aren't shiny or glossy or anything, but they're priceless to me. It neat to think about somebody shaping the wood with their hands, and piecing it together, as opposed to a robot machine putting it together. I think my dream guitar would probably be like that red sunburst guitar that Jeff plays on "Walken"... that thing is awesome. I don't ev

Saw the band in September and had 3rd row seats. Stood up the entire time, no question. When I saw the band in October, for the 1st night we were in the balcony of the Ryman in the obstructed view section, and a lot of people around us were bummed by the view (frankly I could be behind the stage behind a curtain and be happy just hearing it). My boyfriend and I stood up from the moment the band took the stage. We let the people behind us know that we were going to stand. That we'd traveled a good bit to be there, and we were excited, so we were going to stand. About 6-7 songs into it, there
